is the s2k the best car in terms of adjustability and raw performance?

it has a 2l 4cylinder making 240hp that uses an aluminum block and carbon fiber lining, double wishbone suspension on the front and rear, two seats, manual gear box with carbon fiber synchros, limited slip differential, lightweight flywheel, 50:50 weight distribution with the engine pushed back, and it's rear wheel drive.

I think the main flaw is that it isn't lighter. at around 2900lbs it's a fairly heavy car when you consider its power output. had it been perhaps stiffened with steel but left with an aluminum chassis, i think this car would be the ultimate ride. convertibles might not be for everyone, but i don't think there are many cars i could name off hand with similar specs to this. if there is i will gladly look into them as well. i'm in no way trying to shill i just go for specs.

now before someone points out that wishbone is not an inherent plus for performance, bear in mind that one of its primary benefits is the increase of negative chamber as a result of the vertical suspension movement of the upper and lower arms. This translates to better stability properties for the car as the tires on the outside maintain more contact with the road surface. Handling performance also increases. The double suspension system is much more rigid and stable than other suspension systems, thus you would realize that your steering and wheel alignments are constant even when undergoing high amounts of stress.

I'm just baffled that someone thinks a tiny honda 4banger is the last word in "raw performance"

Let alone any relevance to any piece of media that uses the phrase "raw performance"

it's pretty good in my eyes. it can even be turbo'd reliably without modifying the internals as they're forged out of the factory. most motors can't even be turbo'd without a full bottom end workout.

Anything with mechanical fuel injection. If you're looking for a shtf vehicle diesel is good because some old diesels will run on other fuels more readily. Old diesel vws, Mercedes, military diesel gm trucks and blazers

So I had a thought. In the early 00's, we had that retro trend where we got cars styled after 30's/40's cars. Not too long ago, we were experiencing that Boomer nostalgia trend. with stuff like modern musclecars looking like the 60's/70's models and all of that.

When does the 80's Gen X nostalgia trend in cars start?

I'm a fucking retard so forgive me.

I have a 2001 oldsmobile, I am about to change the oil, I live in Canada (colder climate)

What type of oil should I use?

Full Synthetic 5/30 right?
Also how much in litres please...
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I'm not sure if Oldsmobile had 3800's in them but if they do you want 5w30. To be honest a lot of GM cars from that era took 5w30 and I don't think any of them took synthetic.

Go with what GM recommends. Don't put in synthetic if it's not required, you could create oil leaks by doing that
>>
>>14717520
Also if you do have a 3800 it takes exactly 4.3 quarts of oil. I'm not sure what that is in metric, just Google it
>>
I would do high milage oil which is synthetic blend. Uses 5 quarts.

Sup, /o/,
looking for an advice from german drivers.

I am going to Stuttgart in a couple of days and I am going to be there for ca. 6 months. Is there any way to bypass the Umweltzone in the city. I've seen green stickers online for a couple of bucks, but don't know how the control is happening over there. My car is far from environmentally friendly and the equipment costs more than the car itself ...
Any advice is a good one.
Cheers and good luck!

Nigger since you're only going to be there during the summer, buy yourself a Fünfzigerle and abuse all the bicycle lanes that Die Grünen installed everywhere. Parking is hell if you don't have a Smart too. A usable used scooter with insurance (doesn't cost taxes) is 500 bucks. Get an old Honda two stroke, they're piss easy and cheap to maintain and almost indestructible.
>>
>>14717442
Am I allowed to drive a moped on the bike lanes ?!
>>
>>14717489
Only if it is limited to 25kmh, but if you manage to find a cop that checks for that as long as you don't blaze down the bike lanes at full speed I'll gladly pay the fines for you.

Hey /o/, I am going to be getting a mid-sized truck soon and have been really leaning towards the 2002-older toyotas. And I was just wondering just how under powered are the 4-cylinders? Are the v6's any good? Any other problems with them that i should be looking out for?

I have a '01 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I don't do anything with it since I got a new car. A buddy of mine is parting out his GTP of the same year because he got rear ended. He kept it mostly garage kept and it only had 35,000 miles on it. Would a swap to the GTP engine be real difficult? or would it fit with relative ease? Also what transmission would go well with it to make the car a manual? I know the manual swap would be a lot more difficult, but I also have another friend who works in a transmission shop. Pic semi related to my car.

>>
>>14717301
Obviously it can be doen since the GTP is just a variant of the Grand Prix. The questions I'd be asking myself is what exactly will I have when I get done and will it be worth the effort over something else?
>>
>>14717354
I already have another car that is my DD. For me this would just be a project. But I didn't know if there were any huge gaps between the SE and GTP for whatever reason.I already put money into having a nice DD, so I don't mind putting a little money in this car to have fun with it. I feel like it'd be a pretty rewarding experience, too.
>>
>How do I make it a manual?
I don't think that can be done. I don't know if there are any manuals that will be able to bolt up and fit.
Even if there are, what's the point? It's still going to be an outdated FWD boat.

Hey /o/,
I've got a toyota corolla 2002 that i wanted to enter into a beginner friendly rally, but it's a long one (+500k) on primarily gravel roads. Which components should I upgrade to make sure I don't destroy my car mid-race? It's the most awesome car and I don't want to completely fuck it.. Budget about 1k. Entering novice class. Any input before I take it over to the shop? Was thinking of getting some better ball joints in there primarily.

If you don't want to destroy your car, don't rally it

Dont rally your dd, ive done it and i cracked my windsheld, chipped the fuck out of the paint, and the car looks like fucking shit after a rally.

To be fair it is a novice friendly rally. I mostly want to scope it out for next year for an intro to competing.

Also has anyone had any experience with trail of the gnu?

How much do you have to spend?

I saw a silver SW20 drive past me today, holy shit, they look so much better than they do on pictures!

I had my mind set on an AW11, but now I'm starting to change my mind.
Plus the SW20 would be cheaper, faster, more comfortable, better for highway driving etc.

Has anyone here had both cars and could offer some input?
9 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
The NA SW20s are lackluster while the turbo SW20s are great but expensive.
The NA AW11 is slow car fast and very fun to drive. The supercharges version even more so although you will pay almost twice as much vs an NA AW11.

The SW20 will be faster, more expensive, and more reliable (if NA, turbo? Forget it) and will be a better highway cruiser.
The AW11 will make you giggle endlessly and be cheaper.

The only car I would say us DDable unless you're very experienced with working on cars, is the NA SW20.

I'm in the UK, so most MR2s here are NA 3SGE SW20s since we never officially got the turbo version.
There's so many SW20s that it would actually be cheaper to buy one as opposed to a decent AW11.

>>14716464
>The only car I would say us DDable unless you're very experienced with working on cars, is the NA SW20.

Take it the AW11 is just too old to be a reliable daily?
