Hi /o/, I'm restoring a motorcycle for a school project and want some good savage/nochill/nofucksgiven.jpeg jokes during the presentation. They can be about the motorcycle or just machines in general. The bike is a 1975 Honda cb400f ss if that helps. Pic is unrelated

Hi /o/, i don't know anything about cars, so im hoping you guys can help.
My grandmother had low oil light on her dash, so she put a quart in. I read the bottle and it said SAE 10w40, but her oil cap says SAE 5w30.

Will this be a problem? Will her engine fuck up?

>>14799276
Nah its fine. If you had 4 quarts of 5w30 and a quart of higher viscosity, it'd blend and not be a big deal.

Sup /o/

Having some trouble with my Infiniti and was trying to see if you guys could give me an idea of what's going on.

Last week, I had a problem where the car started jerking on me really hard around 3-4 rpms. Would idle at 0 and when accelerating to 1 it would putter a lot. My VDC off, RAS, and slip lights came on. It also really struggled to start. Let it rest, came back in the morning and it drove fine the next day and for a few days and no lights were on.

Today, as I was positioning myself to pull into my garage, the car just shut down. VDC and slip came back on, as well as my battery and oil light.

I was driving pretty hard on it, so this might have triggered it the second time.

I have a check engine as well, my bottom o2 sensors are out. Which could also mean my cats are bad. Could this be an exhaust issue?

It's a 2007 Infiniti m45s

I own a small used car dealership. I have a mechanic I use for my vehicles but he's out of town due to a family member passing. I'm trying to see if anyone has a ball park idea of the issue.
It's confusing how if I let it sit for night it performs okay the next day.

I love how the early foresters styling. I love how a subi sounds when its tastfully modified. I like the idea of having AWD. The extra storage space in the forester over the impreza seems desirable.

Im not a fan of the engine reliability, nor the stock power in non turbo models. The fuel economy is a bit underwhelming as well.

Based on the above, would I be crazy to buy a 98 forester L (which ive read has a notoriously bad engine) to daily until the engine blows? Id love to use a 98 as a build platform for a faster daily.

Id be interested to hear opinions on whats the max milage I should consider an engine swap?

Current owner of a 98 L here, try to find one that's not too heavily beat up, keep an eye on your fluids cause it start drinking heavily as it ages, and you'll be fine with one.

The engine thing is gonna be a gamble, I got lucky and mine never had the headgasket issue everyone dreads with these cars (according to the two previous owners) and had it's engine rebuilt before I got her, so I can probably get to 300K easily if I take care of it. (I got it with 181K already on it)

If you're gonna put yourself through the pain that's owning a 15 year old Volkswagen that was the equivalent of $50-60,000 today, at least get a S4 2.7T 6spd

And get a garage/good aftermarket alarm. S4s don't have immobilizers while 1999 2.0 Jettas/Golf's (MSRP of $15-18k) did. About as easy to steal as a Civic.

Hey /o/

The wife is car shopping. And she is considering slightly used from a dealership but I feel it's just not worth it.

First of all the price difference is practically negligible between new and under 10k from what I am seeing.

Second I don't want some fucking test/demo car where people just hammered the gas and brakes and basically rough handled it.

Third, if your already spending that much then just get new already and have peace of mind that you are the ONLY driver and you got full warranty and all that shit.

Would appreciate any feedback from dealership bros here.

For what it's worth she is leaning towards a 2016 Altima but she likes the 3.5 instead of the 2.5. There is like a 5 grand difference between the two which I find hard to swallow. A little better engine with the same or lower mpg ain't worth it to me.

I am trying to push her to the Mazda CX5 touring, she said she didn't like it's looks and feels it's pricey but will test drive one.

Begin your negotiations with "How much trade in would I get for this car if I brought it in?" but in all reality the only thing you should ever consider buying at a dealership is off-lease cars with full warranties or "way-in-the" back lot ugly trades that they're trying to get rid of even though their mechanics have checked them over as not necessarily going to die immediately tier.

>>
>>14798089

Why do you suggest sticking to off lease cars?

She currently drives a Altima (early 2kish), hence the love for it and wanting to buy another. The one she has is aging badly now and starting to fall apart so trade in value I would be stunned if she got 2k for it. All said she would have about 8k as a down payment.

So, to keep a long story short, the other night while I was driving a couple of shit head kids egged my car. I turned around and looked for the kids, called the cops etc

Cops found the kids and eventually parents showed up. I got all their information and went home to wash my car.

I didn't see anything too bad except for damage like pic related. There's some paint that's cracked and what not.

Today I went around auto body shops to get quotes and information and the average is looking like it'll be around 900. I drive a 2014 mustang if that helps.

Anyway, how should I go about contacting the parents? 900 bucks isn't an easy pill to swallow.

Good luck squeezing blood out of a turnip.

But seriously, if you have a police report that states the parent's name and kid's name on it then perhaps tell the parents of the situation and that you want them to pay for it. Offer to let them make good. If they're shitheads about it, sue them in small claims court. A police report will likely give you instant judgement against them. Good luck collecting.

I'm super new to this board in particular (4 weeks ish) and have mostly lurked. I have a car that's been fucking up and have gotten really into working on it but I just don't know a fucking thing about cars.
Is there any suggested reading materials I should look into? Magazines, books?

>*Tips*
Seriously, though, just look at this goofy thing. And normally I hate SUVs.

Hi /o/, I come to you with a few questions.

So, long story short - I'm hunting down my dad's 1968 GMC 4x4 SWB. He bought it when he was 15, and had to sell it in 2012 to buy a house. He died last year of cancer, and I'm trying to find this silly thing to hopefully buy it back.

What avenues are open to me searching for it? I have the VIN, and I contacted who we sold it to, and they said the person who bought it is in Texas (that's all they can tell me, other than it sold in 2014). We sold it to Classic Car Liquidators in Sherman, Texas. They said they passed my info to the buyer of the truck, but who knows if they're telling the truth or not.

The VIN is KE10DPB37803. Would a private investigator be able to access more information than I can? My "police friend" said she can't search it without filling out paperwork, which implies there needs to be more of a valid reason other than "hurr hurr it's my dad's old truck"
