Hello

Was going to go camping. But then realized there was autox and I need to take the miata to try to sell it.
>>
>>14807880
Well well! I need to mount my 350 chevy and th350 cross member into my rat rod frame this weekend. That, and clean the garage again, oh boy.
>>
>>14807885
Funds going towards a project, or just getting rid of it to make space?

>pic
35 years and 204,000 miles of grease and dirt caked on, cross member had over half an inch of shit caked onto it, glad to finally start cleaning up this thing.

I know you're all sick of the "Is the 944 a gud first car" meme so I'll hit you with this instead: Are the 986's and 914's good first cars?
12 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>14806996
Best first porsche for anything would be a 356/912
914's arent bad
944's are actually not a bad first car, unless you dont do the work yourself, in which case you cant afford any porsche.
>>
914s are pretty rough to drive, if you've driven a Beetle or VW bus it's not far off. The shifting is possibly the worst of any sports car, feels like an oar in a barrel of jello. I would look into a Karmann Ghia over a 914 just because they are a lot cheaper and drive about the same.
>>
>>14807042
As a first car, the 912s and 356s are unobtainable. As a first Porsche, they are great choices. Although really an air cooled 911 is the usual recommendation.

The only red flag is that he hasn't been able to sell it for a month or two now, and this is the third listing. The second was posted a few days ago and then both it and the original were flagged for removal. Why would that happen, because they were duplicate listings? What does it say when someone is unable to sell a car for a while?

Because otherwise I think this looks like a good find. It wouldn't be very expensive to upkeep either unless I'm missing something.

>The only red flag is
It's a $6500 shitbox
You can buy a stock civic and do the same mods for a fraction of $6500
>>
>>14806549
First off the it's no mileage listed
Second he just in general posted very limited info
>b16 s4c(?) lsd ctr jibba jabba 210whp
The fuck man? What is done to it? What mods does it have, the nigga that posted this is an idiot and because he didn't have enough info in the listing no one would trust it, and 6500 is a bit much for what's most likely a bucket
>>
6,500 is a lot for a civic. If 6,500 is your tops for a price range, and it's your only car, chances are you should look for something with better odds of being reliable as well.

Not saying civics are unreliable, just the odds of shit going wrong on a 95 is drastically higher then like a 07-09 car with 7X,XXX miles on it.

I'm developing strange new feelings towards this car; tell me, /o/, am I a complete faggot for liking:

-Easy to park literally anywhere
-Dat tiny turning radius
-Tiny Engine + Good safety ratings = Cheap to insure
-Like a smart car, but build quality doesn't suck nearly as hard
-Can be fitted with a roof rack to handle average-to-moderate hauling
-decent standard options like and aux jack, four-wheel ABS

Does anyone here have experiences with this car they can share? I have a couple of fears that I want to have confirmed or denied:

-Light weight + tall body = undrivable in bad weather
-motor+cvt won't be able to sit comfortably at highway speed
-Insurance savings won't be worth the power compromises
-Weenie motor won't be able to pull a trailer full of compost, cinder blocks, cement mix
-CVT suckiness will outweigh all of the other benefits of the car
-Roof-mounted cargo box will turn it into a wind sail
-Sales flop and discontinuation will mean parts will be hard to get.

join the subcompact cult, bro.

but seriously i havent messed with one of these but the TRD badge in the grill has me interested.

and i believe manufacturers legally have to continue to provide parts for 10-20 years. i mean i can get parts for my fieros no problem.

that is GM tho

Just got back from test driving an '06 350Z. Pretty fun, but worried it'll get tiring as a daily driver. The biggest thing that immediately got my attention was how sensitive the throttle is. It seemed like I barely tapped the damn thing, and it revved to like 4K RPM. I sort of got used to it by the end of the test drive, but still felt a bit intimidated. Also with the seating position, it seemed somewhat difficult to gauge where the car was in relation to my surroundings. Not the best visibility.

Are these things I just need to get used to coming from a Honda? I'm really kinda bummed out how sloppy I was driving it.

cons: gas mileage is meh (maybe just me)

clutch is tricky
engines tend to burn a bit of oil (not all)
idk about the throttle, maybe your just not used to it
visibility is going to bad because racecar (you will get used to it)

What is the future of the 8 major Japanese auto manufacturers?

Honda
Isuzu
Mazda
Mitsubishi
Nissan
Subaru
Suzuki
Toyota (and Daihatsu)

Toyota and Mazda are the only good ones.
Mitsubishi needs to die in American. So does Nissan. They both make trash and just need to stop.
Subaru needs to stop with stupid flat engines.
Honda is meh.
>>
>>14805938
Those are not major

They are the only 8 jap manufacturers
>>
>>14806036
and to be cool and add to that

Renaussan should kill itself

Honda can keep doing what they're doing iDGAF

Mitsu needs to make a supercar or something

Subaru died and the WRX is no longer a WRX but an ugly shitbox

Toyota and Mazda are doing decent but I hope they don't fall for the hybrid meme.

tfw half of all lexus cars are already hybrid

you stupid nigger it's 30 degrees out. there is nothing to do but drink. i hope you get cancer

Dad had several good stories, I have some of my own. Let's talk about things that we've seen while driving or being driven that pertain to loads that were not well secured or planned, dropped loads, things you've almost hit laying in the roadway, or things you have hit and what happened.
Hoping some of our truckerfags have some good stories.
I'll start.

>Work
>Driving company owned E250, like a 2000-something
>Thing has 240K miles on it burns oil like hell, all four tires are different types and 2 of them are dry rot as fuck, suspension is horribly in need of replacement, steering has about 6 inch deadzone, starter sometimes grinds when you start it, thing has been literally run out of oil, like the shop added like 7 quarts or something retarded and it would drop oil pressure.
>Be driving down interstate at like 75, going to a plant, thing feels like it's about to shake apart
>still a good fucking van
>Be behind a semi
>Before I could react, 4 foot long steel pole that they use for those cable-based guardrail things in the center median
>no time to react, start a reflex-based swerve but stop myself before the steering wheel leaves the 6 inch dead zone
>Welp we're gonna fuckin' hit it.
>Hits.
>fuck.
>Continue driving, watch dash closely for dropped oil pressure, rising coolant temperature, warning lights, anything
>Van sounds no different
>Keep driving cause I don't give a fuck about this van
>This is a 3 lane interstate I was in the middle
>About 1/4 mile later see DOT crew in left lane with a truck pulling a flatbed trailer doing like 55
>on the trailer there's like 3 guys standing, about 70 of those tall cones, and a pile of like 300 of these metal bars, just like tossed into a pile, not stacked or anything
I kek

I have watched people drop trailers that weren't totally hooked up in our yard so many damn times. Always takes a couple forklifts to pick the front of the trailer up and then they have to back the tractor under it again. It's loud as hell when a loaded trailer hits the ground.

One of our drivers left a bay open maybe a year ago and a whole pallet of 12 packs went flying out of the truck when he made a turn. Busted soda all over the intersection.

Last weekend I witnessed a trailer with a giant speed boat being towed by a pickup truck lose its two right wheels while making a turn. Dude dragged the trailer and boat for a few feet and finally stopped and was blocking 3 lanes of traffic. Drove past a couple hours later and he dug some nice grooves into the asphalt.
>>
>>14805414
And this one might be my favorite
>years ago, driving muh Explorer.
>at red light, shitty old pickup in front of me and new Benz in back
>light turns green and as shitty pickup takes off, the spare tire falls out from under the bed and lands on the ground
>I just straddle it because Explorer and drive right over, and of course new Mercedes is tailgating me
>Mercedes hits the thing dead center at like 30mph and pickup's spare tire gets jammed under his front bumper to the point where it probably fucked his radiator too
>proceeds to push it another 100ft before finally pulling over
That was fun.
