Euro cars are flimsy tasteless garbage; USA and JP cars aren't
>>17716465
JP cars aren't
That's impossible, because all JP cars are literally copies of EU and US cars.
Hey /o/ occasional lurker here and first time poster. Recently bought a used car for 1500. Its an 05 ford focus 5 speed manual and had 120,000 miles.
I haven't driven manual in probably 9 years but I think the clutch is starting to go because I when i'm in 5th on the highway and take my foot off the gas to down shift, but before i put pressure on the clutch or break the car kind of lurches and the rpms go up.
tldr; manual tranny, car lurches, and rpms go up when giving it no gas in 5th... beginnings of needing new clutch???
Idk lmao I don't even own a car
get into 3rd, punch it.
if rpms spikes for a sec or 2 and come back down to accelerate normally then you have a worn clutch.

Okay, thanks, I'll give it a try.
Which one is worse: black people's car mods, or ricers?
Ricers > donkers > winga dingas > stancers
>>17731515
whining white bois
I hate ricing more. Donkification doesn't seem to take itself as seriously, and didn't ruin the market for head units without blue LEDs.
Quick question for the mechanically-inclined folks. Car shat all its oil when I came back from work, how dead is it? It's a 2009 Cobalt.
As long as you didnt drive it with no oil in the engine it should be OK. Even if you did, its not guaranteed to be fucked.
Did you get a oil change recently?
Was it running when you ran it dry?
>>17731372
>>17731372
I don't think it was empty when it was running, seeing all the oil on the ground.
My last oil change was when I put my summer tires in May-ish.
I went to a long mountain gravel road at like 50km/h last Sunday, that could be a factor.
I'm not really into cars, but I want a cheap convertible. I know these cars get a bad rap, but is that because they are a legitimately bad car or just because they are boring?
I'm also open to other suggestions. I know Miata is the go to car for /o/, but I don't care about performance or the extra cost from them being desirable
>FWD
>chrysler
dont
>>17731090
Again, as long as it drives I don't care. I'm not racing it
>>17731095
Are they really that bad? I still see them driving around quite a bit
Friendly reminder that not only will manuals not be a thing anymore in the near future thanks to everything converting electric, but that manuals that were already made will also be deemed illegal to drive on public roads for """""safety""""" reasons, and soon after that driving your own car will be illegal.
>>17730823
It will also be illegal to not be a transgender and a pedophile.

Fuck em...Ima do what I want...
ICE cucks BTFO
>Does anyone here have any experience with the UAZ-452?
I am thinking about trying to import one to fuck around with occasionally but if its something that constantly breaks down I am not trying to fuck with it.
I doubt something that constantly breaks down would survive a month on the market over there and certainly not literal decades
the window to sidewall ratio makes it look like a modern hatchback

There's a reason the lada was unchanged for 30 years, and it's not because it was great.
I have recently bought a cam and lifters kit from summit for my sbc. I know I still need springs, spring retainers, and some sort of locks. Educate me /o/. What else do I need?(for it to be done the right way) I have access to a degreeing wheel but I'm not sure how to use it.
>degreeing your cam
Waste of time and for nerds. Just slap it in there with the timing marks, and wing it if the instructions call for a change from stock
>>17730637
Cams more radical than stock need higher compression and better flowing heads.
>>17730653
I may do that , depends on how fed up with the thing i am by the time its time to ram it in
Update:
This is my list of parts i need?
Add from it ?
Take away ?
Engine is completely stock 305
>inb4 get a 350
Putting an edelbrock intake on it, may get heads milled for compression (8.5 to 1 lmao)
You have 10 seconds to explain why you are not using silicone wiper blades.
>Inb4 wiper blade delete
>>17730551
>not doing wiper blade delete, cupholder delete and glovebox delete to reduce vehicle weight
>>17730551
I did not know they exist. What's the benefit?
>>17730551
You have to in FL or buy wiper blades every 1-2 years. I'm on my 2nd year from switching to silicone blades I just wonder how long they will last.
Found an 06 S40 that's AWD, 6 speed, and has the T5 engine. The red flag that I see in the ad is that it had the radiator, thermostat, and head gasket were replaced, and the head was machined. I'm assuming something went wrong with the cooling system and maybe the car was over heated. The owner says it was like that for under a week, and it was all replaced in June and that the car runs great now. His reason for selling is because he bought it for his son, but his son can't get the hang of driving manual so he bought him another car.
I've been looking for an S40 or V50 with the T5, AWD, and manual trans for a little while now, and they're pretty hard to come by in my area. Is this issue too much for it to even be worth checking out? If I do check it out, are there any ways to tell if there's any permanent damage that's been done?
>I've been looking for an S40 or V50 with the T5, AWD, and manual trans for a little while now
I cannot fathom why
>>17730490
Not the OP but I have an S40 and really like the car.
Comfy as fuck, responsive, fun to drive.
>>17730490
I just want a commuter car that I can pay cash for, I find decent looking, is manual, and isn't gutless. I like S40s and V50s and I wouldn't mind owning one.

Trying to fix up a car. Pretty new at it (3rd). Other two didn't have paint problems, but this one is pic related. Spotting occurs in about 3 places for a total of maybe 8in^2. How hard is this to fix? It's cherry red from the Mazda 01 lineup, so I can find the paint. Is this the sort of thing I should take to a professional, and if so, what can I expect from my bill?
>>17730003
For that spot alone I'm guessing about 150 bucks from a professional, don't even try you'll make it worse. Look on Yelp for a mobile touch up paint repair, will save you money from bodyshop
how much of it are you planning to paint over? red is one of the most expensive pigments.
>Is this the sort of thing I should take to a professional
yes
>>17730003
looks like some clear coat damage
let a professional have at it
Why am I so mindblown at Mazda producing RX7 FC and FD into existence.
These cars were something you'd expect of a Porsche, not a small niche no name Japanese company.
How did Mazda will this project into existence?
Bumping with this beauty
Calvin pls go
>a small niche no name Japanese company.
Okay.
Your will have to buy new parts for your car one day
I buy new parts and supplies for my car all the time, and it's great. I love new parts day.
>you end up buying your replacement parts at auto zone
just
>>17729787
What? No I won't.
If this thing needs any new parts in the next 2 years of my lease then it's the dealer's problem.
>be europoor
>own fiat bravo
>leather steering wheel peeling to shit, looks awful (just took pic related)
>want to swap for alcantara race wheel because can't afford OEM replacement wheel
>don't want to die because no airbag
Is having an airbag really worth it?
yes, it stops your dashboard from outright killing you in the event your car crumples at the front.
Get a nice steering wheel cover
