I do not relate to your feel.
We've had topics like this before but they're all rather old. Imagine you have an unlimited budget, what kind of stuff would you fill your garage with? Classics, imports, supercars, musclecars, SUVs, off-road megabeasts, superbikes, choppers, rascal scooter...??
Btw, me and my friend created a page about cars, racing and everything about motorsport, if you're interested.. it is called Shift'n'Drive. Google it or find us on facebook.

Seriously considering this 2003 Taurus SES. 2 owners, very good condition from what I can tell, leather and shit, asking $2500. Is there anything I should look out for? What price should I try to get? Will I regret this on the basis that it's not Japanese? Big thanks to anyone who responds.

Forgot to say, 119K miles, only 1 fender bender, and a rebuilt transmission from 2 years ago at a Firestone.
They're good, reliable cars. As sedans go they get pretty poor gas mileage, about 20 or so. The 3l Vulcan is a pig with all of 145hp but the Duratec 30 has a good amount of scoot. The automatic transmission is notoriously poor but if you go easy on it will last forever. Things like not shifting from reverse to drive while moving will help it last a lot longer. All in all a nice commuter car, my dad bought one in 2004 and is still driving it with 188,000 miles. No major work needed. One interesting tidbit, the starter motor is right under the oil filter, so you will probably kill it while changing your oil. Get one from O'Reilly's or Vatozone and keep the receipt so you can blame it on them when it fails.

Why are you even considering this? It's shit.
I just traveled over 300kms to get parts for my 05 sunfire, including a front bumper and instrument panel which I plan on installing tomorrow.
I just realized that if you knew a lot about cars and rebuilding engines and transmissions you could go to pick and pull every time your car breaks down and find the part and fix your car.
Your car would last like 30-40 years and repairs would have minimal cost.
Does anyone have any experience doing this?
thats what all mechanics do.
that's what I do, for daily driver anyway.
>>15059643
You mean, people could fix their own cars with parts they bought themselves by using the same procedures and tools that mechanics do?
wow

Sweet senpai but this is better.
Why is this called the widowmaker? Never had a problem using one. Im jacking the car up with hydraulic trolley, and use this guy to share the weight of the car as I couldnt find low profile axle stands, have to jack up way too much to fit normal ones.
Anyway.
because the base of the jack is tiny and its easy for the car to fall on it.
>>15059168
This, I cant believe people would be dumb enough to get under a car with this lifting it.
>>15059160
Because they can fail more easily than a trolley jack which is what you should be using.
Is there any american equivalent to the rising sun that we see people put on their JDM cars? I'm getting an american shitbox in the future and want to do something that parodies it. I've thought about putting the american flag, but I want to see if there's anything else out there.
Battle flag a la Northern Virginia. I see it everywhere around here

Hi, a coworker of mine tried to cross a river in his crown vic. Now his engine will not turn over even with all spark plugs removed. I helped him remove the throttle body and found lots of water in the intake manifold. On a scale of 1 to Mudkips how bad is it?

It is not funny because it is true.
If water gets in to a running engine, it usually causes a lot of internal damage due to the fact that water does not compress like gasoline and air do. As the cylinder attempts to perform a compression stroke, instead it gets jammed with water. Usually the first thing to give is the piston rod which either bend or snap completely depending how much load is on the engine. A lot of other things can go wrong. Actually more than I could be fucked to list. But if it won't turn over that probably means that you've got a jammed piston somewhere. Crank might even be fucked, that happened to a buddy of mine that accidentally hit too deep of water in his Toyota while full throttling through mud.

Even with a career, are "professional grade" tools a rip off?
Even without working with them I think they're worth it sometimes.
They make me feel good and they'll always be easier and nicer to use than some cheapo shit
No. A "rip off" implies you were duped. While the tools on the Snap-On, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, etc. trucks are more expensive, doesn't mean they "ripped you off". If you're too stupid to know that you pay a premium for the truck coming to your shop every week and for extending credit to guys that often can't get credit anywhere else, then you are the one at fault. No one forces you to buy premium tools, but a professional technician may have very specific reasons for doing so. He is the one spending the money so why do you give a shit? You want cheap tools, go to Harbor Freight.
If you're a professional, I can see the hand tools being worth it, especially wrenches. They're longer, thinner and stronger.
What do you br/o/s think of the 2016 Audi S3 and Audi in general?
Anyone got any advice good or bad about this car or the brand? Specifically how would you compare it to the BMW 340i?
My car's fucked and it's a shitbox and it's time I class it up a bit since I'm in sales. My company is going to kick in $300 bucks a month towards a lease on either a BMW, MB, Audi, or Land Rover. It must be four doors and seat four people. I've seen a lot of hate around here lately against BMW so I've been checking out Audi. MB is way out of my price range if I want something sporty, and I do.
Right now Audi is giving away the 2016 S3 because there is a mid-cycle update coming out for the 2017 S3's, which only adds a couple of HP and a few tweaks to the front end which IMHO aren't even noticeable. I have to admit I find the interior on the Audi's a lot nicer than the less expensive BMW's.

This pic is the 2017. You can see minor differences in the grill. If you get the lighting package on the 2016 (which I will) they look the same in that regard.

Audi in general? Caters to ragheads and people who don't give a shit about cars but want something that makes the neighbours jealous.
As for the S3, shitty Haldex trash.
