Not sure if this is /o/ related but it is technically a vehicle so w/e.

There is water leaking into my boat every time I take it out on water. It pools throughout the underside of boat and into the engine bay. I changed drain plug but it still happens. I'm about to post a second pic of the two live well holes next to drain plug and I want to know if water can come through these holes into the boat. Thanks

I'm not sure if bilge pump works but water shouldn't be getting in there in the first place right?

Well, more of my father,

He needs a new car, he's looking for a used SUV/truck. Any suggestions? Money is sorta tight, maybe <5-10k loaned. Also, pic related, to the majority of humanity.

I'm tired of having to worry about whats gonna fail next on my shitbox, so pic related, im considering to buy the golf tsi. Any opinion on it? Is it the best car I can buy for 20k considering fun, practicality and reliability wise?
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Buy something lightly used (<5 years old) rather than a new car. Just because you're not getting a 30 year old shitbox doesn't mean you need to pass up way better alternatives that are a few years old and won't rape you with depreciation.

I'm planning on buying a Volvo 940 estate soon and I was just wondering which wheels from other cars are compatible with them.
I've been looking and not really found much for them, does anyone know of any 3rd party wheels that will fit the car?

So I've been driving my automatic shitbox in manual shift mode for a few days now non-stop, will this help ease my mindset in manual mode when I eventually learn to drive stick? I realize it's going to feel very different when a clutch pedal is involved, but I'm at least getting used to upshifting and downshifting at the appropriate times.
even tried rev matching just for shits and giggles even tho it's not even close, I just hit the gas really hard in gear before downshifting and it sort of works
>even tried rev matching just for shits and giggles even tho it's not even close, I just hit the gas really hard in gear before downshifting and it sort of works
Not how it works, rev matching would be done with the clutch pressed in BETWEEN gear shifts [think of that like being in neutral], not in gear.

Either way what you're doing will teach you about powerbands, appropriate revs and such but the difficulty in driving manual is 90% clutch. Those fake manual mods also won't let you stall or moneyshift.

I know that, that's why I had it's not even close.

If you've been wrenching your vehicle on your own, chances are you have fucked something up. Time to share.

My worst fuckup (safety wise) was not riveting my motorcycle chain correctly (didn't flatten the heads). It worked fine for a month or so, then the chain snapped while I was riding. Thank god it didn't lock the rear wheel and I was okay, could've gone lot worse.

Also recently while troubleshooting starting problems I had my alternator out in the open. I had taken the pickup coil off and when managed to install it wrong way around and wondered for a really long time why I had no spark. The flywheel actually broke part of the plastic casing but it still works, just turned it the right way around.

cross threaded a brake line when i was 16. a few years ago i snapped a bolt off. I have actually done that twice though.

As of late though, I have found mechanics fucking up more shit than I ever have. I had a mechanic break a pvc pipe and not tell me about it. Found the shitty glue job next time i popped the hood.

Tire techs seem to be nearly unable to balance a tire, also had a tire tech strip two hub threads on a wheel.

When your buying car parts from a eastern European guy in a storage shed filled with car parts somewhere in New Jearsey.you dont ask alot of questions

I've got myself a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I towed my wifes car over 2300 miles with it, and now my trany is starting to slip because of it. What do? I'm gonna change the trany fluid today, is there anything else I can do to save my beautiful mud crawler?

Nothing you can do to save it, unless you can go back in time to put a bigger tranny cooler on it.

I'm translating an episode of fast n loud. They're watching a video of an '89 firebird trans am catch on fire, and one of them says something I can't for the life of me make out. Vocaroo related: http://vocaroo.com/i/s08UyoGEN1aq
The listing will be what?
The guy who was supposed to do the transcript of the episode just wrote:

The listing wil be Ranwin Park. -Oh, Ranwin Parks.

Did he pull that out of his ass as google suggests?

Thanks a bunch guys.
