This looks a bit sketch, but it's gone down in price enough that I could reasonably buy it for a project, that I will end up dailying.

Before I proceed, I thought to consult the automotive experts. Here are my questions/concerns.

How shitty will a welded diff be?
How easy is it to take care of that rocker and floor rust?
What the fuck is up with that front bumper?
Why is it carbed when 4A-GE's were EFI, and how does it affect driving?

My plans are to daily it. Of course I would have to patch up the rust properly (is that even possible those are kind of big holes). Next up would be getting a proper LSD and setting up EFI. After I take care of the important stuff, then I will go full dagumi.
>already has 11k taco

Any input is appreciated.

There's no point. The car is rusted to hell. It'll break in half if you try to drift it.
>>
>>15236893
I want to daily it above all, but it sucks that drift is not really possible.

I'll have to go and peek at the inside more closely.

/o/,

I'm going to be traveling and I found a Dodge Dynasty in my price range. Heard they're reliable and relatively safe and spacious. I love it's front bench seat as well.

Would traveling be fine? Has anyone on here travelled with one?

Thanks

avoid the 3.0L V6 anf they're gold. The 2.5L I4 is bulletproof, and the 3.3L V6 is proven reliable.
>>
>>15236792
Appreciate it, I've heard much love for their engines as well. Can't wait to buy
>>
I would personally go for the Lincoln Town car. It's got a simple v8, rwd, bigger, more parts availability, still has bench seats. 1991 and newer models have rear air suspension.

Hey guys, could really use some of you wisdom here...

Sit rep... Just drove almost 1200 miles to visit family in another country. Barely had the money for this trip and car has gone into ITS TOTALLY FUCKING FUCKED MATE mode.

The car... 2005 Altima 2.5
The problem... She seems too be not getting gas or struggling to get gas.

It started at a pit stop when the wife stepped on the gas while starting it. Assumed she flooded it, let it sit and it started.

Got to motel that night and checked in. Went to move car and it wouldn't start, starter was doing its thing but the engine sounded like it was starting to turn over but wouldn't actually start. After a few minutes it started.

Next day we were at another pit stop. Was hot out so turned on AC. Backed out of parking spot, put it in drive and it stalled. Took a minute to restart. We had not used AC up to this point, so decided too keep it off. Maybe a electrical problem? Car had no issue blasting tunes or using car chargers for our phones so I don't think that's likely.

Got to our destination and entered city driving. Noticed the engine idle was unusually low at red lights. It was barely above the second larger marking above 0, so about 500rpm or less. (pic semi related)

Got to family's house. Park car and greet everybody. Go to move car to unpack. Won't start. Same as before, starter sounds fine, engine just not firing up. Almost sounding like I ran out of gas.

Taking the car to a shop up here in maple syrup land is not an option. I have zero funds for it. Any insight would be severely appreciated as I need to head back 1200 miles home in a week.

Could be fuel filter or the pump. But if it seems to run fine while you're on the gas, I don't think that would be it.
>>
How old is the fuel filter / pump?

As you're in maple syrup land, how rusty is it underneath?

Tesla reverses course and brings back lower-priced Model S 60. Last year, Tesla replaced the entry-level Model S 60 with the higher-spec Model S 70, upping the cost of Model S ownership.but now it's decided to backtrack ... kind of. The new Model S 60s are actually outfitted with a 75-kWh battery, and the full 75 kWh can be activated via a software update, either at the time of purchase for $8,500 or later down the road for $9,000. The 75-kWh 60D has a 259-mile (417-km) range and 140-mph (225-km/h) top speed, and the 75-kWh 60 offers 249 miles (401-km/h) and 140 mph. The Model S 60 is officially back, creating a lower price of entry. For those willing to spend extra, the Model S 60 can become the Model S 75.

That is a the Mondale of Jaguars.

can someone explain to me some heater core meme i heard about.

i was with my friend riding in his car and he had is heater on even tho it was the day was hot as fuck. he said he heard how if he doesnt have coolant flowing constantly through the heater core it can clog and it wont work for the winter and he would either have to flush or replace it. i dont understand how can a heater core clog?

some cars don't have a bypass valve

Saab for instance, the coolant always flows through the heater core

so if the vent door is leaky you can end up with constant heat

your friend's a dummy. It's not a bad idea to flow some coolant through every so often, but constantly is just dumb.

WTF do dealers only hire experienced people? how am i suppose to get that experience of nobody wants to give me a chance? the career services at my school was shit and busy always trying to help others. waiting on them i better help myself. everybody i know tells me just to specialize in one brand and to work for a dealer cause there are benefits unlike a small shop. my dads mechanic told me this. at the small shop he works in he does about 12hour shifts 6 days a week with a fucked up boss. how he wishes he could work for a dealership but can't because he isnt a US citizen. i'm getting desperate /o/. so far i have a tool box sitting in my living room and its not pretty.

cheaper, more reliable, more fuel efficient than the prius, and 10 years earlier, so cheaper. If I haven't mentioned, it's pretty cheap.

Hey /o/, me and my gf of 3 years just broke up and I wanna shoot the shit about cars to help get my mind off of it. Also since my gf can't tell me not to get one anymore, can I get some advice on a first motorcycle? I'm looking for something under $2,000 (before negotiation), pretty cheap to insure, and one that parts and information on fixing it will be really easy to find. I've been thinking about a Honda Rebel 250, or maybe even a Ninja 250-500, but I imagine insurance is much more expensive than the latter (I'm 19 for reference). And even if you can't help me with the bike, just hit me up about cars.

nah senpai its more like a funky electric feel

Retard here. Question.

I have an 08 equinox. Decoding the vin from GM's vin info, it should be AWD. But physically it looks FWD. Had a buddy look at it and he claims there is no way its AWD. Using vin decoder sites, 90% say AWD, a couple say FWD.

How likely is it that my car has had the vin swapped? I'm just curious as when I bought it from the dealer (a ford dealer), it was advertised/priced as AWD.

the VIN should be in about a half-million places on the car. check the other body panels, under the hood and trunk.

If you start seeing these missing or torn then you have a problem.

also you should just log into a GM site and punch in the VIN and find a parts list, it should be out there.
>>
>>15235411
the vin on the windshield and in the drivers door all look original, driver side being faded as hell but i can make it out.

https://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/pdf/vincard08%2006-01-09%20r1.1.pdf

this is what i used to figure out my vin

2CNDL23F386******, L2 meaning AWD.

I know this isn't really the kind of topic that would interest most of you. It just bothers me, and I want to find an answer, and maybe it bothers some of you as well haha
