Hey /o/, lets talk Fiats.
Anyone have any experience with the 500? Both the Abarth and standard.
Are the 500's as fun as they look?
I know the engine is limited, but are they quick?
How are they in terms of reliability and maintenance?
How does the Abarth compare to cost of maintenance/reliability?

I would have the money for an abarth second hand, but would I be in for serious bills to keep it going compared to the standard 500?

It's a bit chinsey, the Abarth is a fun drive if you ignore the gaudy interior. Base is substandard.

Unrelated, is Toyota making the car you posted in the OP?

Why is benchracing considered a valid form of argument on this board?

Comparing lap times normally doesn't control for things like ambient temperature, humidity, tire choice, weight (wet), and most of all, the driver.

And then you have people comparing lap times that are less than 1 second different from each other and claiming

>BTFO!!
>[insert manufacturer here] cucks on suicide watch!!

Do you faggots legitimately believe benchracing arguments have any merit at all?

And no, I'm not just a mad miatafag or ricer...I don't even own a car, so I don't have a dog in this fight. I also don't have an allegiance to a particular manufacturer like so many of you morons do.

So, what is it /o/? Is benchracing just shitposting? Or are you autistic enough to think that it's not?

Also, benchracing general. Benchrace against eachother for keks. I think it would be fun to have a benchracing tournament, like pick a car and race until someone replies with something faster. Who will be the fastest?

So why exactly do engines die?

I get parts inside slowly eating shit because wear/tear but isn't every bit of damage repairable after some time? I can't name one person who's owned a car long enough for it to just become irreparable due to standard use. Is there really such thing as irreparable damage from general use?
29 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>15237874
almost any engine can be rebuilt/repaired. the question is is it worth rebuilding. if it cost more than someone wants to pay for the parts/service than it is a dead engine.
>>
I'm not too sure about the engine, but I'd argue that something like a car's frame (I'm using a BoF as an example) is one of those that can suffer irreparable damage. That is, you must be doing some serious driving to twist/bend the frame in such a way that no matter how much money and time you put into fixing it, you've permanently compromised the integrity of it.

I'm curious to hear about the engine aspect from another anon.
>>
>>15237874
Heat and friction.
And yes, ALL metal on metal contact points will wear away until we find a frictionless surface.
Bearings will always wear due to the heat they're subjected to, and the fact that it's just lubricated metal rolling across lubricated metal. The same thing happens with piston rings, except that's chromium on whatever metal is on the cylinder sleeve. Chromium is used because it has a metallurgy which allows it to expand and keep tension on the wall, preventing much oil / gas mix, but it will still wear away with regular use.
If you keep an engine up through regular service to 400,000 Mi, it will still be less powerful due to wear (lower compression and cam wear mainly) than the same engine at 15,000 Mi.

regular maintenance/servicing (done yourself obviously)

Your car does look pretty clean and well-kept though, the exterior anyway
>>
(OP) Also not my car but exactly like it, same color and everything
>>
Just service it regularly and fix problems when they arise.

Really just changing the oil and oil filter regularly is enough to keep it running almost indefinitely.

Hey guys, I know you're not my personal mechanics but I need advice.

I just graduated highschool, and I've been looking around for cars that I can buy for cheap that look/run decent. I've rested my gaze on the 2002 Audi A4, it has everything I want in a car. It's aesthetically pleasing, it looks pretty new for its year, and it's got a nice sound to it.

I found a deal on craigslist, and I want to know if you guys think its worth it. It's a 2002 Audi A4, 5 speed manual transmission. Has 294000 kms from highway driving, and the guy is selling it for $2200 (Canadian)

I've sent him an email since and he says hes a mechanic and he's taken care of it, says there are no issues with it mechanically or physically.

Is it worth it? What are some things I should look out for? I know this is super cheap of me but since Im young, what is a good way I could get him to bring the price down for me?

Thanks a lot in advance

I only want to put 2000 on the car itself. I still live with my parents and everything so I dont really have any financial burdens to worry about as of now. Plus Im working, so I can afford maintenance and whatnot as long as it's not TOO hefty.

Yeah? No?

>>15247953

Here in Vancouver, used and "for-parts" Audi A4s are all over the market, so finding parts shouldnt be too bad. Not to mention, I've never crashed or damaged a car, so parts isnt a very big concern to me. I just need something that I can daily drive while not looking like a poorfag.

Why is Viper being cucked always?
The Viper is one of the best looking cars in the market but they lack in updates in engine and comfort. Why is Dodge doing this? Why can't Viper be a world class product?
Sure, the ACR is a more hardcore product but I'm speaking about the regular vipers.

How exactly would you update the engine? It's more or less a new engine every generation.

>but they lack in updates in engine

Says who..? the engine is down to about 600-650lbs and it weighs less overall than a C7Z. in fact, it weighs around the same as the DOHC GTR engine and i believe it even revs just as high.

>and comfort.

Again, where is this coming from? what reviews have complained about the comfort? reminder that the GTR wasn't even considered a very comfortable car in comparison to MagneRide suspension'd C6 vettes and 911s of the same time in general. (i even heard about this on /o/ from some people who apparently drove earlier GTRs)

>Why is Dodge doing this?

Seems like they are sticking to what originally made the Viper a "Viper"? is that a bad thing? the car has tons of character in my opinion and that's exactly how i want it to go down. id be crushed if they tried to turn it into what the new NSX is. or god forbid Fiat puts their hands way up that car's skirt to the point of turning it into what the New Supra is. a car that rides on a entirely different platform by a different Manufacturer with a different engine configuration (everybody is going twin turbo V6 and i don't want the Viper to be next) built in a different country. when you look at the New Supra compared to the last MKIV i can certainly see why some Supra fans would be upset.

>Why can't Viper be a world class product?

Why is it not one? unless you live in a country with displacement tax and you want them to throw in a 4 cylinder automatic "euro option". (not taking a jab at european sports-car buying habits or europeans in general)
>>
>>15237765
No, Euros are full on cucked and the only reason sports cars still exist is because of the EU and VW (by extension their branches)
