What is /o/'s opinion on Dodge's 3.9 v6? Is it very easy to modify?
>pic related, my first car (truck)
Why don't you modify that gay steering wheel cover off of it?

HAHahahahaha

if you change the oil, its very likely you'll die when the truck rusts in half at 70 miles an hour on the freeway long before the engine gives you any trouble. just take normal care of it and enjoy hauling shit around.
Alright, /o/ which one of you faggots was this in the Supra at Cincinnati Cars & Coffee this last weekend?
Sick car though.
Dumping some C&C pics I took, general discussion about shit you've seen at C&C and pics you've taken at C&C.

Hell/o/, today I looked at and test drove a 1995 Jeep Cherokee and a 1999 Suburban. They were both found on Craigslist, and I'm looking to buy one of them as my first car to take with me to college.
I managed to talk the Jeep owner down to $2150 (initially $2450, wouldn't go lower), and the Suburban to $1000 ($1500).
The Suburban has 197k miles and the Jeep has 127k.
Which one is generally mechanically more sound/reliable/longer lasting if well maintained?
Not an expert on SUVs to say the least, but the daily driver suburban has 260k on it and nothing except oil changes and brake pads have been done (aside from the one time my brother tapped someone and we had to swap a fender, but that wasn't the car's fault)
If I may ask, why do you want a larger vehicle. Wouldn't something small, sensible, and reliable, with good gas mileage (like a Miata hint hint) be appealing toward a college age buyer?
I'm in Pennsylvania and winter here is shit when you're on the roads because they take forever to get plowed. My mother advised me on an SUV with 4WD to combat this. Personally I'd go for a car, but she's adamant about it. It's not her money or anything and I'm the one buying it so I still have the final say.

They will both last quote a long time, I have a Cherokee with 322k that's pretty fuckin cherry, and the jeep will def hold more value over time as well

Suppose there's a VR simulator that featured a virtual race course which was an identical rendering of a real one; would you be willing to drive that course on a motorcycle with an oculus helmet strapped on?

Tell me why I shouldn't buy a Dodge truck?
Seeing a few in my area from 1997-2002
Do they break a lot?

Hey /o/, it's the guy who asked about 2007 Ion Redlines last week. So I went to look at it today. The seller was totally legit but he knew nothing about cars and hadn't driven it since he had kids years ago.
Pros:
Black
77K miles
Competition Package with LSD
Factory wing delete
All available options
New brakes all around
New clutch
Good paint
Good interior
Engine sounded smooth
Cons:
-AC blew warm
-Intercooler pump was dead and the car wasn't making full power, presumably as a result
-Water on the passenger side floor
-All the plastic window trim was shriveled up like a scrotum in a cold pool
-Shift lever was loose
-Headlights and tail lights were clouded over
-Minor surface rust on the underside
The guy was chill and was happy I pointed this stuff out, but he was hoping to get $4500 and that wasn't gonna happen with those problems. No one else had even come to look at it.
Any thoughts? Also, the clutch pedal was stupidly hard. Is that normal? Never driven a "performance" car before but that seemed like a leg press machine.
>>15304097
Ion owner here.
>AC blew warm
probably needs a recharge.
>intercooler pump was dead and the car wasn't making full power, presumably as a result
definitely as a result. The intake manifold on those cars doubles as a water to air intercooler. An intercooler cools down the incoming air. Colder air is denser air. So the colder the air is, the more power you'll make If the intercooler isn't working right, it will affect the power output.
>water on the passenger side floor
Actual water or engine coolant? If it's water, I wouldn't worry much. Likely just a door seal or sunroof seal that needs replacing. If it's engine coolant (which should be red), then the heater core is shot, and a big repair. If it's the heater core, it could also explain the issue with the intercooler. In that case, replace the heater core (not an easy or cheap job) and replace ALL the coolant with fresh new Dexcool.
>shift lever was loose
I warned you about this last thread. TWM Performance sells a cable clamp to fix this
>Also, the clutch pedal was stupidly hard. Is that normal?
no. Something is wrong there
Also.
>Competition Package with LSD
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE. Very rare option.

Not OP but can you tell me the Pros/Cons and how difficult these are to work on?
Im finding some for under 6k and these might be decent to commute in
I wanted one of these soo bad. There is one at $2.5k near me.
I wanna spend the $700 for the stage whatever gm kit to make 270 hp.
Sleeper all day err day
What do you guys think of the newer focus'?
Found a 2014 ford focus se hatchback. It's manual and the dealer is trying to get rid of it because of that. Offered to sell for 11000. 44000 miles.
Sound alright?

Judging by the wheels that's a titanium, which are DCT only. The DCT is the biggest source of complaints for the MK3, I'd look for 5spd version as they're much more reliable.
What does it take for your average retard have to do to work at a car parts store like autozone. Do I need a lot of car knowledge beforehand or is it something like a cashier that I can apply for with minimal experience.
i had absolutly no car smarts at all i was fucking stupid and a kid when i was working there
i stole tons of shit hated my boss and smoked behind the fucking store when i would take out the trash
my manager still works there and im actually doing somthing with my life and now i just pity him

Chain parts stores require you actually be retarded to work there.
Car knowledge and experience is an automatic disqualification.
Sounds like you're perfect for the job then.

How come normies became interested in JDM?
It was once a word used by nerds and asians...
Now even rednecks in the trailer park use the word JDM means...
Swapping things like ash trays with ones from the japanses version of your car to make your car more japanese is full on weeb.
Why did normies ever begin thinking JDM is cool?
>>15303905
>TFW no QT car chicks
>>15303905
Initial D is way more popular then you can imagine.
It is universal in car culture, especially in this newer generation.
And in recent times it's become "cool" to like anime, to put random japanese characters on things.
>>15303905
Fast and the Furious.
But they don't even know what JDM means.
Ok first ima list the cars i have to work with..
1) 1988 prelude, 300k, a fucking blast to drive, I go out of my way to drive this car longer, take side roads and such. I constantly get complements on it. I could enter it into car shows pretty easily, and may even win something. I love this for everything that it was back in the 80's and how it stands out now. When i drive this, i am SOMEBODY on the road, not just another car passing by. But its starting to show its age. Rattles and such, nothing i cant fix but i need to take it off the road and Build it as i envision it to be. I've rounded up a turbo kit for it, have most everything i would possibly need. All i have to do is rebuild the motor, gaskets and such. This is THAT car for me, the one that I will forever regret selling. I will be able to fix it in a couple days, but ive missed driving it soo much lately.
2) Next, i have a 2.7 v6 charger that i got a hell of a deal on through my work. My plan was to fix it up real quick, and flip it. Well, i fixed it up about 75% of the way, and it got to growing on me. Then the prelude went down with an issue, and i started driving this for a bit. I can’t hate the car, even as much as i want to. I knew what it was when i bought it, and knew all the issues with it. It's a CAR to me, a means to an end. Its transportation, thats it. Its lacking in character, makes popping noises, and is slow as shit, but it runs and it does its job as a car. I feel i can own this car for the next 5 years without any issues, though i wont enjoy it much.
>If you cant tell, im a driver’s man. I enjoy the road and the machine i'm using, as i imagine most of you do too.
Then this R/T magnum comes into my shop…
I work with this motor ALOT. ((i work at a dodge dealership)) I've seen what these motors can do. Love the performance of them, blah blah blah.. There are so many options to generate bigger power, that isn’t easily possible with the prelude or the charger.
Then there's the car itself. It's oddly enough the exact year and color as my charger, but better in every. single. aspect.
This magnum is everything that i want my charger to be. It has leather seats, sunroof, bigass v8(( and all the performance accories that come with it, vs the 2.7 that has absolutly nothing to offer)) more useable body style, better paint, the key actually unlocks the car remotely, half the miles, less paint flaws, a bigass v8(lol) ect ect. Its just a better car in most everyway.
My issue is that I’ve fallen for it, and I’m not too sure that I afford it. I would obviously be trading in the charger for the magnum, but it’s looking like I’ll only get 2k for it. Though I bought it for 2k, I’ve put money and parts into the car. It’s worth more now, but that’s not the issue. The company wants around 5k for the car, and that’s the issue. I’m a lowly mechanic, and I’m not generating much money at this point.
There is various options that I can see
1) Get over the car, continue with my life with the cars I have. The prelude can be my toy, but it’ll never be a v8. It’ll be a badass turbo 4cyl car from the 80’s but still, it a niche market. I’ll have a project toy that’s pretty unique, and a boring ass DD.
2) I sell the project prelude, trade in the charger, and the magnum becomes the project. I go from 2 cars to one, but mostly no debt. I would have the money to modify the magnum to my liking. But still one car to my name again. This option, I would have a really badass magnum, but I will have lost all the money/work I’ve put into the prelude, and the money/time from the charger.
#3 would be pretty awesome/stupid, having two cool ass cars.
I know this has been kinda long, but I didn’t want to vague when asking for advice. What do you guys think? Should I just leave it alone, and go on with my life, or go after the car that I really want, and can have fun with? Do I get rid of one project to just get another, or do I keep them both and have awesome yard ordainments? Lol.
