I need the best car (cheap but also long lasting) that will let me live in it for years to come. Any suggestions?
Hopefully one that is also comfy to live in, I mean. Should've added that as well.

I wish this was a real magazine.
Any more?
Is it a good idea to purchase a cheap car for less than $2,500 that I found on carfax? I need a car immediately and one that I can afford. I don't want to make car payments, just something to get me around town and back and forth to work everyday with cold air.
I've had good luck with cars with 150,000+ miles in the past so milage isn't a big issue, I'll have the car inspected before purchase anyway if I can.

Most cars in the <$2,000 price range are Civics, Camrys, and Malibus. All good cars. Some of them are 2 owners too. Might pull the trigger on one of these bad boys next week. Just don't want to buy a POS and it needs a new engine leaving the dealer parking lot.
>>17698341
just post your local craigslist.
>>17698341
Why wouldn't it be a good idea to buy a car for less than 2500?
You just have to be discerning. Half the shit on CL is dealers posting junk on the by owner section. So def get them checked out.
Or go talk to your mechanic. I was recently in your position. My mechanic actually gave me a lead on one of his other regulars who bought a new car and was selling the previous for cheap. And he gave it the go ahead because he'd been servicing it for 8 years.
tl;dr: are these dealer plates that people sell legit? can they be used to drive any car?
hey /o/,
has anyone bought these dealer plates people try to sell on these selling apps like offerup, 5miles? I was wondering if they are real and legit. cause I want to buy one not to use it to go to auctions to buy and transport the cars but instead to use it on a car I want to use as a work car.
what will the consequences be if I do this? do you think the plates are actually legit? and is the insurance on them valid?
No, they're not legit.
>>17698089
Think the only people who buy them are dealers.
so it's just a scam?
hey /o/, considering my first car. i wanted a rwd manual, but i can't really find one that's not busted to shit, or is way too far. there's a civic being sold not too far from here for 5k, tell me what you think.

Should I get something different? I realize it's a fwd, but by this point I'm too tired to keep looking. i start college back up again pretty soon so i gotta have a car.

>welded diff
>Welding diff on transaxle
That seller is a fucking moron. I wouldn't trust that shit.
>>17697965
>>17697977
I'm glad we're all thinking alike. I remember reading about welded diff, but it's generally on drift cars and shit. I was put off that it's fwd and welded diff, I feel like that'd just be odd.

It's pretty ridiculous how much smoke a small smoke bomb can release. Be sure you've tried it somewhere far away from people (including yourself) first.
>>17697795
someone will call the fire brigade/police and you're going to have a hard time getting away with a gigantic smoke trail behind you. the smoke will fill your car. nobody nearby will be able to see anything. sounds like a good way to cause an accident.
FUCK! just bought gas guzzlin all 'murican 1998 jeep grand cherokee laredo, and recently its started to sputter when in drive. if i quickly switch it to neutral or park, the RPM's go back to normal, but the second i throw it into drive or reverse, it sputters below 1,000 rpm and sounds like its gonna stall. my assumption is the fuel filter but im no mechanic. any suggestions? how fucked am i?
>>17697760
Actually thats preety common problem for this model, usually caused by faulty sensors
>>17697760
goto Jeepforum.com , find the ZJ forum and do a search for your symptoms. Garunteed someone there has had the same problem and will likely have step by step info on how to fix it. Worst case ontario , sign up and make a thread asking your question and it will more than likely get answered.
Should have bought a WJ
>be me
>drive RWD Shitbox automatic
>smash the gas
>car shifts
>watch my speedometer go from 40 to 60 back down to 40 in a split second
Earlier in the day while turning I also heard a audible clank
Also i don't know if it matters but the ground was wet as it just got done raining as well
What did my shitbox do /o/?
Please be gentle I'm inept with cars.
Speedometer reads the rear axle, the shift was abrupt and broke traction,
>be me
You are a piece of shit and everyone hates you.
It reads the speed off how fast your tires are spinning.
If your tires are spinning faster but you are slipping it's not accurate.

Gotta love the NTSB and crumple zones. Also the 'Murrican market. Building the tiny Civic was fine for little Asians. The current Civic is basically a limo for them I'm sure.

If 4chan sponsored a car at the Rednecky Derby, what would be on it?

Is it true that pic related BTFOs both BMW and Mercedes?
in the world of sports cars: yes
in the world of regular cars: no
At pretty much everything, yes.
Even beats them at repair costs, but then again they beat them in reliability....but then again they also beat them at INSANE dealer markups and trims....but then again....

Porsche changes a lot in the Panamera/Cayenne/Macan from the Audi platform. The engines are still Porsche proprietary engines and more of the suspension and drivetrain are overbuilt like they are in the sports cars.
For example, the Audi A7 has its engine out in front of the axle, while the Panamera on the same platform has it more inboard.
Porsche over everything
I know very little of cars.
The gauge needle seems to be way too far past "Full" to the point where it's stuck on the underside of the little rod thing as you can see in the picture.
The guy I bought the car from said he looked it up and you might be able to fix that with a strong magnet, pulling the needle back to its place, but I don't have anything like that.
Also, is there anything cheap I can do at home about little rust spots like this or is it best to just take it to a shop?
Fill up the tank, it's empty?
>>17696785
If its just on the sides and not in hard to reach spots, you could probably sand the rust off if its not too deep and repaint it.
