A man dies after his Tesla Model S gets hit by a dump truck, likely the first death in the Model S under “regular traffic conditions”
Model S owner killed in the accident reportedly was the same driver that recently posted a video of a close call while in Autopilot mode. This is the first fatal crash that has occurred while a Tesla has had Autopilot engaged. Fatal Tesla Model S Crash While In Autopilot Triggers NHTSA Investigation

Hey /o/. Did this thread yesterday and got a few replies and im fishing again. I'm looking into running an engine off drip gas. A generator first followed by a car or truck if possible Its natural gas condensate or natural gasoline. Usually around 40-60 octane which is the real problem.
The way i see it I have a few ways of utilizing it.
1. low compression engine. Smallest I have seen is 6:1. I think 4:1 might do it fine.
2. alter an engine to make it a smaller ratio
3. Use it to make black diesel from motor oil and run a diesel on it.
4. Find a way to boost the octane 20-30 points on the cheap and without adding a shitload of ethanol. Could mix with AV gas.
Thoughts?
bumpin. If i can get it figured out i basically get free electric and free gas to work.

/diy/ might be able to help

More of an /o/ question.
Its directly related to engines.
Plus I have never got more than a safety sam suggestion about how something is to dangerous or illegal.
How'd I do for $4k? 2002 mustang V6 4.9 L Only got 80000 miles and got a whole bunch of aftermarket stuff.

1995 M3 GT. $12,500. Lima, Peru. Thoughs? Would this be a good DD? Also general sport sedans thread, what other cars should I be looking at? Pic very related.
If it's a real GT it's a awesome price in Europe/Australia/Japan where a regular M3 Evo goes for that much, let alone a third world shithole like Peru. What else is there for under $15k?
Can you guys import RHD Cars like Bolivia and Chile?

Hey guys
I've decided on what car I want to get, but I found two options and I'm trying to figure out which is 'better'. Both are Mazda 3's, 60k miles, same trim etc etc. Only difference is one is a 2012 and the other is a 2014. According to KBB the 2014 is a better deal based on the price, however I don't like the newest body style as much. The 2012 is a fair price, and I like the appearance a lot more, but it seems odd to pass up a better deal on a newer car. Should I just get the 2014? Or does it make sense to get a car I like more even if the deal isn't as sweet?
>>15361530
Which engine options?
Hatch or sedan?
>>15361633
Both hatchbacks, manuals, iTouring, 2.0L I4 engines. Aside from the year these cars are more or less identical.
>>15361683
Well then its up to you. Was hoping one at least had the 2.5L
Great cars though. I have a 1st gen and love it.

What do you think?
Like the color.
>>15361313
ask for pics of engine bay before you even look at it
I have that same pathfinder, 1998 4x4 and same color. I love it, best vehicle I've owned. Gas mileage isn't great and it doesn't have much power but everything else is awesome.
4x4 is not a meme, shit works well. I have taken it wheeling with local jeep club and they always smirk in the morning but by the end of the day i get nothing but compliments on how well it did. a locker in the rear would make it better, but a little speed and you'll get through most shit.
Mine is at 167K miles and it's been great for the last 30K miles. Transmissions aren't the strongest because nissan. But take care of it with a trans cooler (some models came with one from factory) and she will go forever. 21 gallon tank is nice too. I tow my racecar with mine. Rust isn't generally a big deal but there are a few common spots. Engine bay is tight, but it's not bad.
Check for rust on:
Front subframe crossmembers
Top center of the windshield before the sunroof (doesn't look like linked has one)
and the rear underbelly behind the rear axle
If you want an offroad machine the unibody design really limits it. If you want a daily that can offroad really well this is it. If you want to tow this might be a bit weak.
/o/, my dad is looking for a new car but doesn't have a good idea where to start because he's trying to find one car that does what two of his current vehicles do. $35k-ish is the cap.
>wants AWD because winter, and we have a long steep driveway. Every single FWD car he's had would get stuck at the end when he gets home from work if it snowed while he was gone
>wants a hatch with rear seats that can go down, enough space for hauling stuff around in back, but no need for anything huge because he has a truck for the big stuff
>wants at least 30 mpg
>manual, this is non-negotiable (thankfully)
>fun, quick-ish
When I say new, I mean new. Not "oh, you'd have to buy CPO" or "it's just a couple years old" but actual new. He's stuck on that.
All of that considered, it the Focus RS the only good option? I know the prices are dumb now, but he's willing to wait it out for something good to come along.

Don't you guys have a subaru wagon ?
>>15361246
this
>>15361246
You guys as in Americans? We don't get fun, new Subaru wagons with manual. The Forester XT is CVT only, and the WRX doesn't have a hatch anymore.
I feel like stripping my interior
Is it worth it ?
Why would you even do that?

Which tires are the cream of the crop?
Tire guy here.
Tires for what?
I just picked up some birdgestone driveguards and oh mah gawd they are so much better than OEM runflats. Not super sticky but meh, these tires are too expensive for dat shit

Hi there /o/. I found this car part in my driveway and have no idea where it's from in regards of the vehicle. It was near the back end of the car. It's either from a 2007 Saturn Vue or a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Any help is appreciated.
I think that's a turbo

I'm pretty sure that's the headlight lube housing.
There is asbestos in houses. But what about cars? I want to buy a classic car as a daily driver but am wondering about asbestos.
Would a classic car seller not like it if I send a piece of the interior away for asbestos testing. Would I look dumb doing this.
Maybe you should fuck off back to your quarantined shitboxes you fucking vagina.
>>15360949
brakes.
asbestos best brakes
also asbestos is only harmful if eaten or breathed in while airborne, you're fine if you don't snort brake dust.
As a person who does work in asbestos
Yes, you would look fucking stupid. Most classic cars would have them in friction linings (think brake pads and clutch discs) and gaskets. The best way to avoid exposure is by simply wetting it down/washing it off and wearing a respirator with P100 filters (Magenta HEPA particulate).
It's only a issue if you're working as a mechanic and doing brake jobs every day for the next 20+ years. Even then asbestos wasn't fully banned and a lot of the cheap aftermarket parts (pads/clutch discs from China) still have some percentage of chrysotile. You're more likely to get exposed doing construction or demolition nowadays.
Are "performance cruisers" a meme?
What about a cruiser enables worthwhile performance? There is such a thing as too much compromise.
seems like they are just more expensive
just get something like a 1290 superduke
Yes, look up the specifics of the diavel rear tyre for what these stupid compromises entail.
Performance cruisers are not a meme. I like to think of them like muscle cars. They are big, comfy, and look fantastic but arent for cornering at all. But you just cant get over
