At what point will early 2000s cars be considered "vintage" instead of old?
I mean, any luxury car from 2004 or earlier pretty much is worth >4000 in showroom condition by this point.
Everyone likes Coca-Cola in glass bottles, not in plastic
Why do Americans keep confusing < and >?
>>15381498
2000s were a fucking terrible awful time for cars but I wouldn't by surprised for old man millenials/ numillenials to somehow be nostalgic over them
/O/ what do you all know of W201 mercedes?
I've been looking for a second car to supplement my older 4Runner after I dumped my new/practical/efficient Civic daily driver. 4Runner is reliable enough and not too terribly inefficient, I think I just want to get my hands into something new. Raised on jap stuff so I think this would be a cheap and interesting way to get into MBs and European cars in general.
Car in question is a '91 190E 2.6, 193k miles, 2 owner, the first one owned and maintained the car until 2 years ago. No rust that I could see (spotless wheel wells). The people selling it now have done little odds and ends (starter, battery) but it's been a daily driver.
Seems to drive well, motor/transmission seem good. I did hear a single light knock from the front left suspension at low speeds, but aside from that the car rode and handled very well. The auto doesn't creep much at all, owing to starting in 2nd gear from what I've read.
Is this a terrible idea? Should I just pick up a cheap Corolla/Camry instead?
All I know is that I had my driving lessons in an 87 190E, and it was shit. Handles like a boat and it broke down all the time.

>pick up a cheap Corolla/Camry instead
so why exactly do you need this if you have a 4runner which has the most reliable engine and transmission toyota makes
why would you spend so much money on somthing that is so heavily used
i mean come on what isnt gonna need working on its a fucking mercedes benz with more miles than most civics
i see this as a massive gamble with no payout since if it breaks its gonna cost you money if it doesnt than you still have to buy it
Hello /o/. I am thinking about getting a Jeep Wrangler as a second vehicle.
I need to know how reliable they are, how easy they are to fix, If they are really worth the money, and how much a used 4 door one would go for. Thanks.
Also if anyone owns one what do you like and dont like about them?
>>15381416
>inb4 innocuous shitposting with made up anecdotes and falsified complaints
You've been warned OP.
My advice, get the diesel if it's available in your local market.
Here's mine, made it look like a humvee as much as possible because I'm a douche at heart.
It's big, feels indestructible, has an amazing road presence, comfortable interior. I absolutely love driving it and owning it. But...
Horrible sound system (easily fixed with some tweeters and a subwoofer), horribly slow minivan motor, shifting is notchy and sticky, clutch sucks, brakes suck, RUST everywhere.
Would swap an LS motor or hemi in it, but I don't have another $10,000 to drop.
They hold their value incredibly well, I'll be able to sell mine for basically what I bought it for 35,000 miles ago. Bought it with 22k miles and have only had minor maintenance problems since.
I say get one, there's nothing else like it, and man does it get you girls. They love the rig.
>I go to work so that I can pay for the gas needed to fuel my vehicle so that I can drive to work to pay for the gas needed to fuel my vehicle
Why are car owners so mindbogglingly retarded? They're called bicycles. Use them.
If I ever see you on the road I'm door checking you you monkey fuck
>>15381234
>I'm so poor that my work only pays me enough for gas
That's not how it works, OP
>>15381234
Worst bait I've seen in a while.
Fact: The 3.5L EcoBoost engine is better than an LT4 engine for performance.
>>15381099
And rotary is superior to ecoshit
>>15381105
It's not shit though.
OHC>pushrods
You need to slow down. The other thread is still up.
>get a Fiesta ST and learn manual
>I just automatically shift without thinking now
>same as autoslushbox basically
>boring
>rent a manual vette to see if it's better
>still boring
You said manual is more fun, /o/. What the fuck?
>>15381003
You obviously hate driving cars. Just leave, you don't belong here.
>>>>/a/
i dont think anything is fun anymore after doing it 50.000 times a year
i'd take comfort over TEMPORARY fun

How do you get from this
to this
while completely ignoring this
I like the old one better, at least looks wise.

Which auto-makers are on top of the market right now? Which ones are on their way out(pic related), and which are up and coming?

this. ford is killing it.

How so?

where's the stick
>>15380511
Fuck that.
I didn't even let my own brother drive my cars.

I hope no one on this board is actually retarded enough to not be able to help out their family because they happen to be a girl.

Why would you hold onto your outdated V8's when V6's are clearly superior?

Why do you pretend V6s are relevant when V8s are clearly superior?

Why do you pretend V8s are relevant when V6s are clearly superior?
It's 4th of July, post GTRs
kys
>>15380018
Now, now anon. This only proves V6's are better than V8's. The GTR is slower than the GT.
Contribootin'
What percentage of time do you drive alone, /o/?
Why do you even have passenger seats?
95%
I don't., my dog likes it though
98-100%
It's useful for storing stuff I need to take with me right after I get out but honestly I only nee 1 seat. I drive a 2+2 coupe and it still has too much room.
>>15379905
< 10%
I share a car with my brother.
Well, I just came back from a dyno on my 05' GT.
358whp. All I have is an air intake, long tubes + catted h pipe, hot rod cams, underdrive pulleys and CMDP.
Now what? I'm thinking of getting the Ford racing dynamic shock and strut kit from A&M for $500 + P lowering springs for $200. I can't really do anything else to add HP except head work or boost and both are out of the question.
>>15379678
You can start by getting a 2011+ GT

Disgusting
Why is driving a car so incredibly boring, but riding a motorcycle so fun?
>inb4 you just haven't driven a good car
I've driven a V6 mustang and it was shit
>>15379639
1/10 apply yourself
Hijacking the thread
Why do people, specifically bike people, think driving a car at it's limit and driving a motorcycle at it's limit are comparable experiences? So comparable that obviously one is inferior to the other, objectively .
>>15379653
If you havent noticed, people are dumb.

Why is it that Japan often exported the sportier versions of their cars to literally everywhere except the US. I would get it if it was just Japan since its a small enough market to make it a testing ground, but the rest of the world? Why? Is it because of Nagushima?

They did in the early 90's
>3000GT VR4
>Supra twinturbo
>300ZX twinturbo
>RX7 turbo
They all died by 96 because no one bought them. When you start pricing your car around Corvette pricing, you're playing a risky game. Even if your car performed much better than a Corvette for the same price, you're still in an uphill battle because the Corvette's largest demographic is 40-50 somethings that have dreamed of a red Corvette all their lives.
No matter how impressive that Supra turbo or RX7 were, they weren't the Corvette
