Where were you when Mazda made the latest breakthrough in internal combustion engines?
>managed to make an engine that does compression ignition (diesel style) on gasoline, along with the option of having it spark controlled during high speed use.
>the technology is rated to increase fuel efficiency and power by 20-30% compared to their current, already fuel efficient 4-cylinders, and is slated to be in all their cars in 2019.
http://www.motortrend.com/news/mazda-to-launch-compression-ignition-gas-engine-by-2019/

I dont really think its as epic as people think. Its nothing new its just slightly altered diesel tech. The motor will be way more expensive. Also im sure there will be emissions fuckery because dieseling isnt as a consistent burn as a spark. I doubt there will be much room for FI because of the diesel levels of high compression. This will just make econoboxes more econo. And more expensive.
It's not even out yet ffs.

Hey guys, i'm new to working on my own car and can't seem to find the problem
There's a squeaking noise coming from the rear of my car and i think it's the diff. I once ran trough a deep body of water and the sound seemed to dissapear. Now it's back
Could it be lack of lubrication in the diff?
Car is a bmw 320d e46
e46s tend to have a bad rear shocks/springs.
my e46 had a fucked rear spring that was squeaky
>>17722797
check rear shock mounts and trailing arm bushings.
get a friend to bounce the car while you liste and look.
a lack of lube in your diff would have caused a massive catastrophic failure within a very short time period. its not that.
just check all bushings in the back end
either that or you've fucked the floor but that happened mostly on the 330 and m3
>>17722797
That's not you're diff bud. Check your rear suspension
What colour paint makes stone chips, clear coat swirls and dirt least visible?
>tfw fell for the white car meme
Someone end the suffering.
White.

you think your life is bad, I live in Australia. Literally all the driveways I've ever had have been dirt tracks, the shortest being about 30m and the longest being over 100m.

Got to one of his vids on autoplay; why can't /o/ stand him again and how does he afford a huracan?
>>17722357
He is too pigfat also leave.
>>17722362
The vid was just him bitching about a shop so idk what his deal is.
>>17722380
Just looked into it; he's the heir to a billion dollar fortune and /o/ is probably jelly.
Came across a really weird problem on my 98 crv. Whenever I use the windshield spray, this horrid smell comes out of the air vents. Odd thing is that it doesn't smell like the wiper fluid, and it started maybe a week ago, two at most.
I've had the car for almost 6 years now and it's never happened before. Any thoughts?
Can you DESCRIBE THE FUCKING SMELL
>>17722358
It smells horrid
>>17722358
I wish I could boi. It's not any fluid in the car, burning or otherwise. It's just baffles me that it's only when the wiper spray is going, otherwise the whole system works perfectly, ac and all
JUST
FUCK
Go away OP

Are these times from 1999? That board looks awfully dated
I took the rear window off my rav 4 because it cracked and I'm waiting to find a new replacement, would it be illegal to drape a cargo net across it in the meantime? I live in california so I have no idea if this counts as "obstruction". I know you can drive without a rear window, but I want to put a cargo net over it. It's not like I'm afrad someone will cut it and break in because it's my offroad toy, but I will be using public streets and highways.
Can't you just duct tape a clear plastic sheet over it or something?
>>17722172
It's just the fact I don't want there just to be a hole because it looks off, at least with the cargo net I already have I think it'll look better than duct tape and saran wrap
>>17722156
You got side mirrors? If so you don't need to see shit out the rear window so stick whatever the fuck you want back there. Source: vans exist. And camper shells, and Mexicans with cardboard rear windows.

[LOUD SCREECHING]
>tingtingtingtingtingtingtingtingting
>noise only starts up right at road-legal speeds, and only then occasionally
>disappears without a trace
>sounds like it might be right under you (behind?) but you literally can't turn your head to check with your ears because the local yokels are at literal sub-tween levels of driving skill, have the spatial awareness of a vertigo sufferer, AND constantly drive XBOXHUEG crossovers/dad trucks/20-person church vans
>so you're stuck there wondering what the fuck and trying to simultaneously diagnose the problem and drive like you're the last sane motorist in Los Santos
Can anyone ID this car? Was at Lars Anderson museum, couldn't photo badge or model name, was something like EVsr or EVs8 on the side.
Yes that's a solar panel roof. Also it was very long

Been looking for a cheap foxbody for so long on this god forsaken island, what am I looking at as far as problems if I buy this?
Also, is it worth?
It's a 4 cylinder with a zillion miles. It's not worth anything.
>>17720723
Oh shit, didn't even notice, any other things I should watch out when looking for a fox?
>>17720745
Strut towers rust out
Frame rusts out
Subframe rusts out
Trunk rusts out
Frame rails get bent on V8 models because they have the strength of wet noodles
Parking brakes don't work
T-5 transmission is weak
Really, they're kind of a shitty car and the only reason they're worth anything now is because poor boomers who can't afford Hemi Cudas have latched onto them as some kind of nostalgia replacement.
You can get a '90s Mustang V8 for like $1500USD that'll be in much better shape than a 30-year-old Fox body.
