Hey /o/. I just bought an 06 Chevrolet Impala LT. What are some things I can do to improve my experience?

I'm 19 and this is my first car, I worked very hard for it (paid 2200 for 187,000 miles, but body is mint condition and even my father who's a mechanic says it's worth dropping another motor into if it ever gives).

I did all rotors and brakes and replaced halogen with LED, now I'm just waiting for Walmart to restock the LED resistors so I can figure that out.

Sorry if I am too new to the board to post or haven't lurked enough. I just want to hear opinions. :D

pic unrelated and related: an 06 impala, but not mine. same body condition though.

please don't use blue leds for headlights bro it looks awful on cheaper cars
what are you intrested in cosmetic or performance mods
>>
>>15457012
theyre white LED. :)

And both, desu. Since this is my fist car, I'd wanna try my hand at both.n life I'll eventually get a caar that is already aesthetically pleasing enough for just performance mods.

you can install some coilovers if you're fine with it being less comfortable. Also are those hubcaps or rims?

Not when no one will give you more than 20 hours a week and just stop giving you hours after 6 months, and when insurance is $500 a month and safety inspections practically require the car to be in factory condition.

Go back to school then. Get a good education, and get a decent job.

Why do people key other people's cars? I've literally done nothing to anyone and someone messes my car up. Bad. It was obviously very malicious. I'm pretty pissed even though my insurance covers it.
39 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>15456656
Because we keep talking about it.
If people wouldn't fucking talk about keying all the time, it wouldn't cross the minds of little faggots everywhere that they could do it.
>>
>>15456656
People get jealous of people with nice things, I'm assuming you car was nice if you bother having insurance that covers it.

Either that or you pissed him off by being ugly or driving bad.
>>
I used to work at a retail store, and I leanred to always pay attention to someone's care when they drove in the parking lot. If someone was a massive, unreasonable douchebag (which a lot of people are), I'd have another guy working with me run out into the lot and key his car while he was busy bitching at me.

Hey guys, I could really use some help from anyone experienced. This morning my cars brakes sort of stopped working. To elaborate they still work, but I have to push them down all the way, and when I do there is almost no resistance and it sounds like air is escaping when I push on them, kind of like the hiss from a bicycle pump. They do stop the car but they are so soft there is barely any resistance. I checked the brake fluid and topped it off but still feeling like no pressure. Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated.
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Have someone push the brakes, while you look under the vehicle to see where it's leaking.
>>
>>15456388
I tried that, and I didn't see any fluid leaking. So I took it for a drive down the block and back, braking frequently, then checked the fluid and there was no change.
>>
>>15456399
Then push the brake and listen to the vacuum booster. Is there a hose in the line going into it?

I got into a minor accident on the fender and side skirt. I have an appointment with the adjuster on Friday. After that I plan on taking it to the Ford dealer.

What will they replace? Will they give me a new front bumper, fender and wheel or will they jury rig half ass the job? This shit doesn't look like it can be dented out properly and I don't want a shit paint job. I've never been in accident before or had to deal with these guys. I also need a new side skirt and a new inner tie rods + alignment.

How does it work?

>>
Insurance usually does full repairs on everything, thats how a minor accident can end up costing more than the actual car.

I would say thats about 4k in repairs. They should just replace everything
>>
>>15456395
So they are not going to jury rig it, right? I will be getting a repaint, new body panels, new wheel and everything?

I don't want paint spot correction - I want a full repaint that will look as good as before.

My deductible is $500 btw. I'm with Geico.

That's college for ya. Meanwhile people that went into a trade got paid to go to school and now are probably making more than most people with a "degree" ever will.

How reliable are GTIs?

Im looking at this one but Idk if its too many miles.

I just dont want to be constantly having to fix it, need a fairly reliable DD for a few years

I wouldn't want to own a VW that's not under warranty especially if it's a car that's been presumably hooned during its lifetime like a GTI.

Yeah I just might

Why don't normies understand momentum?

The amount of unnecessary braking the normies do must really wear down their pads. Most of the time I'll see them zooming up to a turn, ad braking hard, meanwhile I've just coasted to a slower speed then coasted around.

I live near an underpass and the amount of normies I see accelerating down the hill, braking at the bottom and then accelerating up the hill. When the smart thing to do is to let off down the hill, accelerate on the flat and then lift off as you're carried up the hill.

This bothers me too. I see brake lights come on at completely unnecessary or inappropriate times. I think most that have never driven manual operate their vehicle in two modes: pressure on throttle or pressure on brake. They don't seem to be aware that their transmission and engine can operate at different speeds, engine braking, etc.

>Econobox power 100-110hp
>Engine is a tank. 300k miles easily

Very well engineered.

10/10 since it fulfills its original purpose with flying colors.
>>
>>15456140
Not to mention it gets quite good MPG.

My gramps had a Corolla with one. Bought it new in '99 when his last car broke down, and drove it into the ground at 460K KM's (just a hair under 300K miles). He had half his carpentry shop in the boot of that thing, which worked great to cover for the shot dampers, and his clutch started slipping because his left knee is bad and he abused the clutch.

The engine, and most of the car around it, still worked like a champ.

Insurance (((FRAUD)))

Hey/o/

I have held my licence for 3 years now, my first years insurance cost just £680 Apposed to the £2-3k many of my friends paid.

However
First years insurance 10 months in my car was stollen, so i had to claim.
Second years insurance went up as i had a claim (above) & i brought a bigger car (2.0 apposed to a 1.5) then in the second year just 24 days in (christmas eve) i was on my way back from work and a paki slammed his breaks on causing me to hit the back of the car (broken number plate on my car, slight scuff on his) insurance ended up paying out whiplash.
so third years insurance 1.7k, all going well until i have a knock on the door informing me some one hit my car, the insurance managed to revcover all costs from the 3rd party, so keep my NCB(0) and bam 4 days later, car hits me at a junction, no CCTV, no black box, no dash cam, so insurance said its impossible to prove fault so will be 50/50 there for loss of NCB.

And so come the 4th year soon (december) its due for renewal.

/Any claims in the last 5 years"
Yes - 4

So although none are my fault (Maybe the bash for cash i should have been more vigilant and driven a further distance away) my insurance will be £4k plus, which i cannot afford

What methords can i use to get it down to below 2k, so i can afford it, while still been legit incase of any accidents ?

pic semi related, it was the car thart was stolen

move to another country that isn't raped by insurance... like America for example or Canada
>>
>>15456057
Would be nice, i must admit.

However I cannot move to either of those countries as im not a "skilled" worker, and nore do i have millions in the bank

Hate the UK for car insurance, and peoples driving, and the people and the weather, and the roads, and ... ... and the ... and thats about it
>>
>>15456057
Americunts always seem to be raped by insurance when you see them bitching about what they pay, stick 4 claims in 3 years on that and he will be bent over in any country.
