What kind of factors need to be considered for a slower, heavier (stock) car to beat a lighter, faster (modified) car?
This is assuming the course is a winding downhill road and its dry.

so here is my skimmed down maintence list, how does it look?
2000 ford ranger - 2.5l - standard - 2wd - 215,000mi
flush coolant
replace leaky radiator
flush power steering
check steering box for major leak
transmission oil change
engine oil change
replace air filter
replace old hoses
check timing belt for replacement
check engine temp gauge
check balljoints for replacement
fix spare tire mount
rotate tires
check tires for lumps
check wheel bearings
check brake pads
replace or clean MAF sensor
Worth it to replace:

I regularly go to a skatepark next to a super-tweaky methy scrapyard and the owner said he would do the maintenence for me - better yet, he would show me how to do it myself - so i imagine he would give me the frugal run on car maintence which i am totally into but im worried he will be filling my car with **** fluids and **** parts - he told me to go get all my replacement parts from pick-n-pull and "if the part looks shiny, grab it"
he also said for the majority of my concerns, "if its not cuasing any problems, dont mess with it"
im very hesistant to work with him, but also very curious

Change the oil, coolant, and trans fluid yourself. Just watch a YouTube video. Chrisfix even owns the Mazda version of your truck. If there is a power steering leak it's probably the pump or the steering rack, which are not cheap. If the brakes work, leave them alone. If it's running fine, you can leave the maf, pcv and o2 sensors alone.

Best place to be autistic about your wash schedule/routine and what wax and shit you use.

>rinse off car and head inside to get a towel to dry it off
>go back out and it starts fucking raining
>it wasn't supposed to rain today
>deliberately chose this day as it wasn't going to rain, or rain the day after, best chance for the wax to set
>so fucking mad I get the urge to just key my fucking car or go drive it into a wall or something

Car drivers who think they bought "fast " car hide this posting
I own a fairly fast car. It is NOT as fast as a corvette, camaro (fast ones), dodges with Hemi engines, Porsches, etc. I do NOT race those cars. I know and respect their capacities.
My car IS faster than Altimas (all of them), Hondas (all of them - including the little SI things, and CIVIC owners GET REAL), Toyotas (all of them) and especially those ridiculous little Mini Coopers. Today I witnessed the clowniest thing. A Dutch guy was trying to manoeuvrer a old 'merican muscle (it looked like some old first gen camaro) around one of our tiny ass roundabouts. Now for one the thing was too fucking wide. Secondly it clearly lacked power steering and this guy was struggling despite being above average in size. Thirdly he was crawling and riding the clutch while lightly tapping the gas.
I'm just wondering. Was it just badly tuned or do you literally have to do that if you want to craw just a car? I don't know if it was running lean or rich but it sounded like one of those WWII piston aircraft engines idling.

He's not being as careful as he could be, but he's not doing it flat out wrong. You do have to work quickly especially on a warm day to prevent the slip solution drying before you can position the film.
But a few things he could be doing is
1) using pre die cut film to get an exact fit
2) covering car door panel with plastic sheeting. A lot of stock speakers in cars use a paper cone. The slip solution is probably just water and baby shampoo, but getting them wet still isnt a good idea. Water generally isn't good for electricals either
3) slow down. Again you do need to work quickly but not sure why he's being soeed racer about it.
