If your cars disintegrating within five year from a little salt on the road, then there's something wrong with the *cars*. Not that I approve of the practice to use salt to get rid of snow and ice, but it's cheaper than the alternatives (which certainly exists and are used elsewhere) and that's about the only reason *anyone* uses it.

How come the B7 RS4 (the best drivers car of the last 10 years) came to market at the end of the E46 M3's life, BMW saw it, then decided to make their competitor have 200cc's less displacement and less power?
Is it just because BMW are fucking stupid and M3's are shit or are there other factors in addition to these?

Why does Toyota claim that the GT86 was designed with the AE86 and 2000GT if it quite clearly resembles none of those and in fact looks exactly like I'd imagine a next gen Celica should look like? It literally takes design cues from the 6th gen Celica. It's literally the same segment and it fills the same role. Even has the same color choices.

Well the Celica was known for it's phenomenal handling characteristics as well, hence it doing so well in rally.
Would have nothing against the whole thing if they'd just offer the AWD as well. This car could've been grand if it was called a Celica and made into a new gen. Everyone wants a new Celica, just like we want a Supra.

Nah, I got it with the l4 and the fwd. It's just the base model, but my plan is to keep it nice and trade it back in down the line.
The 9 speed was weird on the test drive, but considering it has 35 miles on it (see: way less than what the computer even needs to learn driving habits) I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Was looking at buying a 91 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 for $6200 but it was too steep for me. The guy dropped the price on the ad to $4900 for the following reason:

Don't normally come here as I know nothing about cars. That being said, I need some help choosing a new car. About 2 years ago, I bought a 2000 Honda Civic DX. While it served me well, it now needs 1500+ in repairs and I have already spent more than what it's worth repairing it. I have let the registration expire and am now in the market for a new car.
What I am wondering is what a good option for me would be as a commuter in dense Bay Area traffic. Hoping to spend less than 17k with a max of 20k (will pay in installments obv) or to lease a car. No idea what make or model.
Looking for a car that won't break down, is gas efficient, and will serve a ~50 mile daily commute well. Any advice for a make or model el and as to whether to lease or buy would be much appreciated.

I'm not here to start dick measuring, but I often look around me in traffic and try to find cars faster than mine (not looking to race, just killing time). It doesn't happen often, it's always exciting. So now I'm here doing that on /o/.
Drag racing is what I do the most and it's also more universal since we can't all go to one circuit and compare times.
With that in mind, who here can lay down faster than a 12.8?
