Just picked up a used 2016 GTI with performance package last week.

So glad I did research before buying its practical suiting all my needs and it is an absolute thrill to drive compared to all the hondas I used to buy.

Took a couple days to learn manual with it but i doubt I will ever go back.

gud car, arguably not as fun as a focus ST though

slap a tune on that bitch asap, they were undertuned from the factory and just some software will probably get you like 50 horsepower at the wheels
>>
>2016

The original owner realized it was a shit over engineered slow piece of shit
>>
>>15481903
why are they intentionally undertuned?

Hey faggots I don't know much about cars but my brother in law drives one of these and I give him tons of shit for it. Just curious if it's actually something worth making fun of or if you think it's a good car. Tbh I think it's ugly as shit.

Dicks.

Looks you can make fun of all you want because apparently fuck you.

But it's an awd turbo car made by a decent company. Not a whole lot to make fun about really...
>>
Over hyped by monster drinking ken block wannabes and attracts the lowest common denominator of car enthusiasts.

But they're still alright for being an affordable/practical AWD sports sedan, at this point it's pretty much your only option for the segment besides the Focus RS.

When you look at US car culture's domestic side, you usually see a few general groups. You have your pre-malaise "no replacement for displacement" muscle cars, normally Chevelles and the such with a bigblock of some sort, this group is also filled with ratrodders and hotrodders, with engines that you would find carbureted. Your have your modern-day sports cars, populated by the Corvettes, Cadillac V-sports, Mustangs, and Hellcats. And while smaller, you have your comfybarge mid 70's, populated by DeVilles and Fleetwoods.

But one era I don't see a lot of is the experimental era, the era where The Big 3 realized that deviating from the norm turned out to be fun and exciting, the mid-late 80's and early 90's. Cars like the Mustang SVO, the Dodge Omni GLH, the first Chrysler minivans, the Taurus SHO's, the Syclone, the AMC Pacer and Eagle, and of course the most legendary car of this era, the Buick Grand National.

This is where I oddly find myself, and maybe I'm not looking well enough, but I don't seem to find a lot of people in this era. Who else has love for the experimental end-of-malaise era?

>>
>>15481875
I dunno, there seems to be plenty of love for that era of cars. It's just that because of their experimental nature, they are more niche, unlike the others which have broader "classic" appeal.
>>
>>15481898
Exactly what he said. There also weren't as many of these "experimental" cars made so rust, common among a lot of old us cars, or accidents really takes a toll on the number er of good examples left
>>
I'm a pretty big fan of turbo Chryslers. Don't currently have room in the garage for one but if a solid one with a 5 speed fell in my lap for like $600 I'd buy it (and that's not unimaginable)

What would happen if high compression pistons were installed in a random engine with no other modifications to support it whatsoever?

Let's assume they clear the valves and the cylinders can withstand the increased pressure.

OK, timing should be fiddled with, that's the only thing I know.

Why do you say its shitty?

I could say a car is shitty because it doesn't have more than 2 cup holders.

>>15481508
So it's bad when a car is flashy and bad when it's inconspicuous? I don't get that logic.

Sup /o/, I went and looked at this '98 LS400. Thing is in near perfect shape and drives great. New tires and timing belt/water pump done at 93k. It's fully loaded with every option. They want $5300 but I think I can get them below 5k. Anything to look out for on these cars? I know the 1UZ is supposedly indestructible.

Okay /o/, I own a powder coating business and I'm making some new business cards. Am I allowed to use a photo of this 4G63 valve cover I coated? I'm not sure if I can have "Mitsubishi" on my card. Thoughts?

Trademark law is fuzzy, but you're showcasing your work, not claiming the brand name as your own. If you're concerned, then consult a lawyer that deals with trademarks and the like.
>>
maybe put your info over top of the mitsubishi logo?
not a lawyer, but I feel like if you're partially covering it and aren't actually selling the cards should probably be ok.

Some bitch rammed into me on the freeway and totaled my 02 civic lx and I'm looking to replace it with a station wagon. Any opinions on what I should get would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking at volvo v70's and v50 t5's some Saab 9-3 wagons, and some older land yachts. Most of my driving is done on the freeway but I live in the desert so one with some light off road capabilities wouldn't be bad. I all so want some thing that has a flat trunk that's long enough hold a seven foot long bow or my bass guitar along with my amp and my budget is around 4500$.

The 9-5 will have more space than the 9-3 wagon on the whole.

I'd rather buy a small truck than a civic because than I'd get RWD
Who's with me?
RWD is the best

An 80s Econoline is also RWD. What's your point?
>>
>>15480759
As a driver of a compact pickup, I would say a civic with a b18 would be more fun than my 22re. Advantage though is it's a fucking truck and even though it's slow it can carry shit a civic can't like a couch. The Japanese have dodge van races. The potential for vans and trucks is there if you just want to have fun but find one that is a good platform for an engine swap or turbo.
