Is this the best car VAG ever made?
>hektik AWD launch control means you can do high speed collisions in stationary traffic from only 10ft away
>automatic for a nice chilled drive
>AWD so good in the rain
>looks cool
>really fast

are these worth it
i'm not looking for top quality sound
just for average sound with no buzzing
They sound as good as a cassette tape. If its all you got do it.
>>15491816
decent power to weight ratio and the price is on point
great if you want to wear out your tape mechanism.
Why has nobody ever made a RF car?
>>15491800
Traction belongs on the drive wheels. Your design would spin out if you applied even modest throttle.
Because having the weight over the drive wheels makes sense for fwd, seeing as the wheels are both for steering and power.

I thought newer Beetles were like this until a few years ago
My A/C is blowing hot air last two years. Dealer quoted me $850 to fix a couple years ago.
Mechanic couple weeks quoted the same. He put some Freon in and it wouldn't cool.
Today mobile A/C guy (pic related) on the side of the road quoted me $855 to fix it after he tried filling it with Freon and wouldn't cool. I thought it would be a $50 fix.
About 8 years ago, my hometown mechanic said there was a Freon leak somewhere. They would just fill up the Freon every couple years for about $150 each time. Are the new mechanics lying and trying to screw me or is shit fucked and Freon refill won't work anymore? It's 100 degrees in Texas, but I don't give a shit.
well
you could get a compressor and condenser for it from the pick and pull. save a LOT of money, and have the guy check them out and see if they are any good.
imo there is nothing wrong with doing that.
as far as the acumulator dryer and screen those are cheap replace them with new
>>15491775
I have zero experience with cars. I've changed a tire or two, inflated them a couple times, and pulled a dip stick or two. How complicated is changing the condenser and compressor?
>>15491761
seems like a pretty legit guy actually, price may be a little steep but hes only making about 300 off the deal for a decent amount of work and providing a 2 year warranty.
lets say hes making 300$ on the deal in labor that means:
150 compressor
100$ condenser
5$ orifice
50$ accumulator
50$ flush- (this is kind of a pain in the ass to do right)
60$ oil, refrigerant and o-rings
Hes making about 375 in labor and thats decent because hes going to be spending about 4 hours to do the job.
Is Certified Pre-Owned just another word for scam?
2012-14 Civics with <40K miles can be obtained from $10-15K. They are pre-inspected by Honda, and carry a warranty extension on top of any original warranty that still remains.
In the long term, is it cheaper to do something like this as opposed to buying a late 90s early 00s Civic with > 150K miles for 1 or 2 grand?
>>15491654
>is speanding 10-15k cheaper than spending 1k and then maybe 2-3k in repairs TOPS
Are you retarded?
>>15491689
Long term you fucking moron. Sure I could drop ~3K now and it would last me 5 years and then I'd have to do it again. or 15K and it would last me 20 years.
Over 20 years, I've spent less money. Was that hard to understand?
If you're good at negotiating you could get a new Civic for the price of a certified used.
Why do cars keep getting bigger and uglier?
Is it the safety requirements?
Similar comparison can be done between the 2001 WRX STI and the 2016 WRX STI.

Yes, that is the reason.
Why aren't you building reliable hot rods anon

I'll build one as soon as you decide to wear something other than denim on denim, Jay.
give me an example of what you think i need to build?

Why arent you riding a scooter yet, /o/?
Great mileage, and it can get around anywhere.

Shitty 50cc with no power and low top speed. So even if you get "great mileage" you would have wasted so much time, that I would rather pay a little more and get an old motorcycle.

Thats stupid

Trying to change rear drum brake pads on my 82 Corolla.
Drum is kinda loose but not coming off.
E-brake is off and im pounding the fuck out of the drum. Nothing but loads of brake dust coming out that im vacuuming up.
I put some wd40 on the hub too.
Help?
the drum probably has a lip and the shoes are caught in it, there should be a small hole on the back for backing off the adjustment of the shoes.
you can also try screwing in 12mm blots into the 2 holes on the front of the drum to force the drum off.

I just did the bolt thing and the drum moved forward about 1/2 inch, its on the lip of the hub now and i sprayed more wd40 on it.
So maybe stuck shoes?
Hey, /o/.
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I think it's time to finally pop my BMW M cherry.
I'm going to start saving up for a BMW M5. Late 90's-ish to mid 00's seems to be the sweet spot.
I'm currently DD'ing a Fiesta ST and I want something sporty, luxurious, and roomy for the weekend.
Any advice on what to look for? What kind of mileage(s) vs. price would seem reasonable? Common problems?
I appreciate any and all advice, stories, or knowledge anybody here has to convey.
Cheers.
idk if a late 90s car would be any luxurious but it is quite roomy for sure
there aren't many issues on the E39 M5 but you should ask if the rod bearings have been replaced at any point
>>15491492
>late 90's to early 2000's
so you want an E39
probably easier to phrase it that way
>>15491518
Well, I'm not opposed to the e60 M5s, as well.
That V10 sounds heavenly.
This competes with the Mustang, Camaro, BRZ, Genesis Coupe, but is substantially less exciting than any of those options, even with a manual V6.
Anyone who wants an Accord for practicality instead of sportiness is just going to get the sedan. So why not just turn the coupe into a 6th gen Prelude and make it *properly* sporting? K24, AWD, lightweight materials, etc.
>>15491208
I just wish that was a RWD.

It's acceptable, affordable, reliable transportation. None of the cars you listed will see 200,000 miles. None of the cars you listed are worth more than scrap value at 100,000 miles.

Kek, the last two cars i've bought new do that. I think that it's a self-test feature that just so happens to be visually entertaining.
My 89 civic does that
Hey /o/, thought I'd ask here regarding restoring faded trim pieces (especially plastic and vinyl). What do you use to restore them? I've heard everything ranging from $15 per bottle restorers, to baby oil and even WD-40. Which one should I use and why? How long does it tend to last? Thanks in advance.
>>15490825
None last. The plastic fades due to solar damage and flame retardants. If you want unfaded trim, buy new and apply a UV protectant.
>>15490825
I guy in my class treated his bumpers with a heating gun, they looked pretty neat and afaik the effect doesn't fade like the stuff from bottles
>>15490852
This also makes the trim pieces more brittle.
