Why did Dodge ruin the R/T name?
It's something they tossed around to signal 'performance'.
Everybody wants better 'performance'.

My Dad didn't get me my first car like tradition so I've been saving for my first car and wanna know what the best car to start with is, looking for something that looks nice, cheap to run, but also fast I'm thinking Ford Fiesta or something along thoughs lines
Need suggestions
>>17735674
>looks nice
>also fast
>Ford Fiesta
The latest model fiesta is probably the most boring/slowest car I've ever driven, and I like Fords...
Whats your budget?
>>17735696
39 k but can't get insured on anything big because I've never drove before
>>17735703
Some bong /o/tist said that the st200 mondeo was cheap to insure. You should not buy a new car since you cant afford to insure anything that isn't a penalty box.
Can you still call yourself a "car guy" if you like reading about cars, watching videos about cars, but at the end of the day, don't see yourself actually spending any of your own money on anything but a transportation appliance that gets you from A to B and no more?
>>17735309
>Can you still call yourself a "sports guy" if you like reading about sports, watching videos about sports, but at the end of the day, don't see yourself actually spending any of your own money on anything but a set of shoes and ball that you kick or throw from A to B, and no more?
You're a faggot, OP.
>>17735309
No. There are inexpensive cars that feel good to drive.

So if I go look at one with 120k miles for 3500 it's not a bad deal? 2006 but it's just been owned by some old dude and an attorney
What does /o/ think of this guys reviews?
reviews are fucking stupid and for autists and normals
>>17735235
Yeah, like why would anyone want to know information about a product beforehand? Everyone should just blindly jump into every purchase that make, especially on something as expensive as a car.
>>17735270
Information is listed in the product descriptions on manufacturers websites.
You really need some fag to tell you if it rides bumpy or not. Exactly how the stereo sounds?
Everything about a car that is relevant and objective can be learned by the published figures and your own personal and hopefully extensive experience. You should be able to know how different a 200hp motor in a 3000lb car feels as opposed to a 400hp motor in a 3800lb car.
The rest of it, just how stiff a suspension is, just how much road noise there is, etcetera, are all subjective. If you don't drive it for yourself you are going off of some jack weeds opinion with his own bias and subjective history of experiences that have and should have no bearing on your opinion.
The rest of it, how reliable a brand is, how easy or expensive the maintenance is, the more intangible aspects are universally objective. You may think a BMW is premium luxury and reliable, others may think it is down market and wonky. There is nothing a guy in a video can tell me that I dont know about BMWs in general, and if I want to know exactly how a particular car feels I can go and drive it.
Video reviews are pathetic instruments of self promotion delivering abysmal levels of useful information. They are indeed, as so well put by another poster in other words, for normies and for people who have some kind of obsessive compulsive mental disorder and need to seek opinions to validate thier own opinions.
What some armature dick weed on YouTube has to say, a dickweed who has never manufactured or marketed a car, never sold or resold cars professionally, and has no concept of journalistic professionalism or the realities of the automotive world with decades of experience in some related field of automotive, racing, and journalism, what that fuck wit has to say is of no relevance. You may as well get your opinions from the wall of a men's restroom. They will be as vulgar and useless as YouTube car reviews.
Did you know the legendary Pontiac Aztek was such a unique and versatile car ?

>lololo bragin bad xxDDDD I lov dis ca
Faggots only appreciate it because of the series (just like with the Delorean and B2TF).
No one of them would touch it with a 10ft pole otherwise.
Or maybe they actually would because modern cars look even more fucked up and it's accepted by now.
did you check his column on autosteer.net/overtrader ?
DOUGSCORE
/o/, it's time we had a talk.
A talk about common sense Van/Truck control.
Hundreds of people have been maimed/killed by vans/trucks in the hands of madmen, some even young children no older than 5. No one needs a high capacity truck/van, there are professionals who have them who you can hire if the need arrives. A normal 4 cylinder car is all that is needed for the normal person as it can still preform your motoring needs while keeping people on the streets safe.
I hope you understand that we need this to keep our, and the future of our children, free from further tragedy.
>>17734716
BAN ASSAULT VANS, BAN HIGH CAPACITY TRUCKS, NO ONE NEEDS A F-350.
>>17734747
Unironically this
>>17734716
>mufflers on cars
HOLY FUCK, ONLY ASSASSINS WOULD NEED HEARING PROTECTION AGAINST LOUD THINGS!
IF SOMEONE'S GONNA RUN ME OVER I WANNA HEAR IT, BAN CAR SILENCERS AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS NOW!
I just moved to dfw from far west Texas in the Davis mountains, does anyone know of any good twisty roads near the area, preferably less than 100 miles outside the DFW area?
I remember too-gaying up in the Davis mountains with all the twisty mountain roads, some of them being flat out dirt and making little rally stages out of them.
Idk how I'll get into the DFW Car scene but I know there is one, but so far it also seems like every road is straight, literally looking at a map, DFW looks like a grid.
Sage
Google it fag
>>17734694
good luck finding a quiet country road where you can be left the fuck alone.

Uptowner here. You have to go North, up near Sherman is where all the sportbike dudes go.
What does /o/ think of the first gen Xterra? Good first SUVs?
My options are:
>1999 Subaru Forester
>2000 Toyota 4runner
>2001 Nissan Xterra (pic related)
>2003 Chevrolet Tahoe
All automatic since my father insists on it as he will be the one making the purchase and he would use it when his car is in the shop (he is sick of driving stick). I myself know how to drive stick relatively well, so I don't mind the automatic transmission ordeal.
I'd get the 4runner especially if the Tahoe isn't 4x4
>>17734543
both xterra gens are pretty sexy
>>17734834
Xterras in general are pretty sexy senpai.
If I had the option for a free 2008 Range Rover or a $2,400 2003 Nissan Xterra, I'd take the Xterra anyday.

Why don't we have flying cars yet?
>>17734249
people can barely drive with wheels and you want them to fly?
also we dont need them
More importantly what is that game?
>>17734268
B-Hunter. It's very obscure and it crashed after the second level on every computer I've tried it.
Is this reliable enough to be a daily driver?
>>17734218
yes but if you have a low speed traffic collision you'll no longer have the lower half of your body
>>17734218
I met a guy who had 5 of them. He DD all of them and if one broke down he drove another one and fixed the other.
So fucking slow.
t.ex classic car restorer
I've got an '08 forester with leaky headgaskets(big surprise). It doesnt overheat and theres no gunk on the oil cap, but the coolant in the resevoir is murky as shit and i lose a few ounces every month or two. My question is how long can I let it ride without fucking something up?
106k miles btw
>>17733992
Do a cylinder leak down test
I don't think there is any exact answer to how long this car can last until it completely break down.
1/ Change oil and coolant. It can help for a while.
2/ Change this head gasket.
How bad is it to drive a maxima with
>1 bad motor mount
>bad front right wheel bearing
>engine overheats a bit when you leave the ac on(bro does this, turns off when thermostat goes up)
Me and my bro share 2 cars. One of them is fine to drive, but he prefers to drive the broken one. Whenever I tell him not to drive it, he gets in a fit saying its not that serious. He's like, it's a maxima, I wanna drive the maxima. So how bad is this?
Serious note, how bad is it to drive with those needed repairs?
let him drive the maxima
he wont die
>>17733785
Fix the wheel bearing, fuck the motor mount, deal without AC.
I just bought a 2006 Duramax engine for $3000
>Comes with all accessories, wiring, computer and transmission.
>engine runs good but 4L85-E transmission has shifting problems sometimes, was able to manually shift on the highway
Did I do good? Or was I a dumbass
Also, what can I put this in? Is it hard to hardwire the computer to run stand alone
Also, how can I modify the engine to make it look cleaner and without the useless smog shit?
for a diesel?? yes you did good
What's it going into?
>>17733643
I am thinking of a 70's chevelle or el camino
