I'm a car n00b looking at the Nissan Versa. Is there a better option to get a reliable CVT without spending a lot?
There is no good CVT
You could buy one of Honda's CVTs.
Get a car with a manual transmission
>"b-b-but my leg gets sore from pressing the clutch in traffic and hills"
pussy
What does /o/ think of this new trend taking over car culture social media?
>Inb4 hurr hurr they're not real enthusiasts
For the same of the tread lets just say they are.
The gist is that you send in a photo of your car and this just shops it for 5 bucks, quite a racket no?

It looks like a fun project. I'd drive one around on weekends.
So fill me in americlaps. The crown victoria is dead and gone. What's the verdict on its replacements?
>fwd high tech taurus?
>classic but impractical dodge charger?
>explorer/tahoe?
I remember the widespread concern over the taurus' awd/turbo complexity. Was that valid?
The panther was shit, but you can never truly replace a dinosaur.
>>15574087
The Explorer is of questionable usefulness to me. It can't offroad as well as its predecessors and it's as slow as a squad car from the 1990s.

A thread to discuss about Econo-Pocket-Rockets.
>What is a "Hot Hatch"?
A Hot Hatch is a manufacturer produced, performance oriented variant of a standard hatchback, designed for improved handling, increased top speed, acceleration and generally enhance the driving experience.
>Are all Hot Hatches FWD?
No. Whilst most Hot Hatches are FWD, some are AWD or even RWD.
>Isn't FWD shit?
No. Just because you can't get the arse out by stamping on the accelerator doesn't mean you can't have fun.
>Aren't Hot Hatches just for Europoors?
No; with the launch of the Fiesta and Focus ST in the US, it seems like the Hot Hatch is beginning to take off on the other side of the Atlantic, but Europoors definitely have more choice.
>Is the Fiesta ST actually good?
The Fiesta ST is one of the best small hot hatches on offer at the minute; so yeah they're pretty good.

How can VAG compete?
Is it easy to find a 4age engine around the mid west? I'm not looking for a silver top 20v, but just a basic red/blue top.
I'm debating whether or not to move my 86 from the east coast to the mid west. I wouldn't know where parts are most available desu

I've only once seen an 80's corolla, and it was a rusty project car.

honda parts are everywhere though

How would we know?
I have a 4age just lying around though.
Needs a crank and rods and probably pistons.

Are you loyal to any one brand,/o/?
I'll never buy anything without a blue oval on it.

Nice try Ford.
My last car was a Toyota and my current one a Ford. I am not brand loyal and would freely consider vehicles from other brands. That being said, when I went to buy new I found the way Honda sells cars (buy it or leave it with packages and no checkboxes for individual options) which is one of the reasons I didn't buy an Accord. There are also brands I would definitely avoid (Chrysler, GM, Kia).

>That being said, when I went to buy new I found the way Honda sells cars (buy it or leave it with packages and no checkboxes for individual options) which is one of the reasons I didn't buy an Accord.
I found this infuriating, sorry for the incomplete thought.
I also like that I was able to buy another two proximity keys for my Ford on ebay for $44/each new and program them to my car myself to have four keys total. Toyota and Honda don't generally have on board programming which means getting keys is $$$. Compared to the price of buying a car new this is a marginal expense though, and it wouldn't be a major factor in my purchase decision.
One advantage of switching car brands is that if you buy a similar vehicle in class (e.g. I had a Camry, and bought a Fusion), I was able to get $1,000 competitive conquest cash AND I was able to stack it with an $1,000 previous ford owner credit (If someone in the household has the last name as you and bought a ford, you can get the dealer to apply the competitive owner credit applied to your purchase in VINCENT). Ford also lets you get X-Plan (dealer invoice minus 0.6%, no haggle) through membership in the mustang owner's club of america, although it takes 60 days of membership before you get a PIN (better if you know you're going to buy a car ahead of time rather than replacing something lost in an accident). That price is before any financing or cashback incentives, which means you can get a pretty good deal.
I don't know what I will buy for my next car. I'm looking to hold on to my current one for five to ten years, and that's ages in the modern car market.

Either something fuel efficient (fuck 16mpg premium lol) or a truck.
Red pill me on the e46 m3. I want to get a convertible with an auto (live in City)
How is reliability? Structural strength? Cop magnet? Things to watch out for?
Well cops probably won't bother you much, where I am whenever I see an e36/e46 M3 cabriolet it is driven by a woman.
If you've got the auto you won't be going so quick either.
In other words, you'll be able to enjoy your vert without being shot or peppersprayed or tased.
Also to note the cabriolet M3s are quite heavier, and I think they have different suspension.

As an engineer, I work with women who can do absolutely incredible things, create stunning parts that are way beyond the grasp of the majority of the population. The thing the best of the best have is a positive outlook - never claiming the victim card and working ceaselessly to improve themselves.
Trying not to be seen as a /pol/ leak, but immature shit like this needs to be stopped.
Need some new car tv shows and youtube channels to watch. Any recomendations?

ITT Convince me to buy a four-banger Toyota instead of wasting money on German crap.
One mature owner, 120k miles, 535i V8. Looks to be in decent condition. From what I know about the E39:
>Had problems with Nikasil cylinder plating, although it should be fixed by now? (1999 model V8)
>Relatively good on gas if driven sensibly. Parts / servicing will cost a bit extra (BMW) but the car itself is known for being reliable, no major issues? (eg. E46 subframe issues) that can cost more than the car is sometimes worth
Any response appreciated.
>>15574199
Also, will be my second car, and first BMW. So just general E39 / late 90s-early 2000's BMW ownership stories / problems thread I guess.
Toyota has a dipstick
I would pick up an LCI 540i if your budget allows it. They're fairly rare but if they don't get much worse mileage than the 535i and you're still putting premium in (or atleast you should you cheap fuck). So any car other than a corolla is gonna be worse for you money. But you buy BMW because you enjoy driving and if thats worth the extra cost then by all means
Truck general? Didn't see another one, so truck general.
I'm looking for the guy in or around DFW who also saw this Bronco, that I bought, on Craigslist and offered me bumpers for sale in another thread.
If I don't end up getting another 2500hd Chevy or GMC, I'm looking at possibly getting a 2016 GMC Canyon with the 2.8L Duramax diesel or a recent Toyota Tacoma with the 3.5L and manual transmission. What are y'alls thoughts on these options?
