Hey /o/. I'm 23 and I just got a pretty sudden promotion so I'll be making another cool 12k/year. All my college loans and bills were already covered and more with what I make, so now that I've got the cash flow to support it I'm really liking the idea of getting a fun, sporty late 80s/early 90s convertible or roadster with my savings while I'm young and stupid, ideally to fuel my inevitable mid-life crisis. Maybe that I can try to get my hands dirty doing maintenance on.
I've already got a hawkeye WRX that I love, so I am looking for something strictly for enjoyment.
Say you had to choose:
>Corvette C4
>FC RX-7
>FD?
>Porsche 944
>NA Miata
>89-93 Foxbody Mustang GT
Keeping best enjoyment for the money and reliability in mind, which would you choose? Any other nice, ~$8k max, fucking boxy coupes or convertibles with broken headlight motors that I'm missing in my dreams?
>inb4 "pay off your college loans"
No one has ever regretted buying a 944.
Get something with a chevy 350 dude
pay off any loan with interest you fuck ass
how much do you make?
why can't the Camaro-Firebird-TransAm family turn? all that power for straights seems kinda lame.
also this interior is amazing god damn why doesn't honda make just NSXs?
are you sure the z28 cannot turn?
>>15634032
isn't the z28 3,400lbs? it would be too heavy to handle corners well and would rely on straights. it would have too much momentum to retain lateral acceleration without losing grip on the wheels.
Because the primary racing in the US is the drag strip or highway pulls. No one bothers to drive 2 hours into the mountains to race only to end up hitting a deer.
Next generation Scirocco rework confirmed?
>>15633970
If the window went down to the character line it'd be perfect.
>>15633970
That looks like every other current model coupe.
Also, fender clipping is dumb.
>>15633970
please don't be fwd
Anyone use an aftermarket HUD in here? They seem like a really cool concept and really safe since your eyes stay on the road.
What is a good aftermarket? Is it worth it?
What exactly do you need a HUD for?
>>15633907
hey, i drove through there earlier today. nice stock photo.
>>15633932
Gps.
If there was a tach one id buy it.
Please advise
Make/Model: Lexus LS400
Year: 1996
Issue: Car has an interrupted idle. When accelerating; vehicle shakes and doesn't have much power. Check engine light flashes occasionally during long accelerations.
What I've been told: Check engine light is tripping 3 codes. Presumable the o2 sensor being fixed will clear all lights.
I've tried: Seafoam, praying it goes away.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
>>15633905
Post the exact codes.
>>15633905
Clean the living hell out of the MAF sensor.
>>15633954
don't have the codes; it's what the shop told me. They turned off the check engine light & said it's nothing. If it comes back on to make an appointment.
well. IT'S BAAAAACK
I'll research a MAF sensor
Redpill me on JD Power's Vehicle Dependability Study.

How did Mitsubishi get below Chrysler? i mean holy shit.
>>15633886
Here is the rundown
-VDS looks at car ownership over 3 years, so the 2013 chart is tracking the reliability of cars sold in 2010
-Repair constitutes anything that the dealership actually opened a ticket on and payed labor against. Blown engine and customer complaint that bluetooth doesn't work are weighed the same if the dealership actually took the car into the shop to look at it
-Small, pointless dumb shit, like having a complicated infotainment system can artificially pull down a reliability score. So can having 1 or 2 things that constantly break on every model of a certain car, like a cupholder or a vent
-Getting towards the top of the chart usually indicates that a carmaker has most of their shit together for the evaluated model year, because not only do you have to have the major shit down, you have also avoided getting pulled down by dumb bullshit like what I described above.

It's illegal to impede traffic where I live.
These signs started popping up everywhere recently. What the fuck are they trying to imply?
Not sure if they understand how traffic works.
It's so people feel bad for driving faster than the posted signs
>>15633829
If you got over 5-10mph they start flashing, most likely they're to get people to slow down. Pretty worthless unless you have a cop camping out by one whos too lazy to use a radar gun, or if they strapped those big ass traffic camera to it to fuck you right in the wallet if you go over.
>>15633841
It's illegal to interpret those signs as a limit-cap. The traffic must flow.
Could coach builders make a comeback, post 2000?
>>15633808
i want to believe
>>15633808
I don't think saudi princes or the children of high-ranking ccp members care all that much about custom bodywork.
I never really gained any interest for kit cars or coach built cars. They usually are expensive for the performance and options they can offer. Kit cars such as Shelby cobras can be built to perform better than the original but yet don't have any of the legendary history.
There was some law passed on replica cars that up tp like 250 a year can now be made by one manufacturer, don't have to pass safety standards but has to for emissions.
>gf asks me what my ">implying" and "WAT" stickers mean
>wife's son ask me what kek means
>gf
It stands for WAT Automotive Technologies, duh.
How dumb was I too buy a 98 Seville 2 weeks ago?
why didn't you just buy an ls400
>>15633563
seconded.
such a better car
Incredibly dumb
You're basically broadcasting that on the inside you're an old man with absolutely nothing interesting about you
I remember when I didn't even know what an sti was less than a year ago and now my dream car is a fully built rally Subaru. It's amazing to learn what that bond between man and car can be like. I never understood it until I got my current car. After learning what rallying was and after learning that Subaru is he best rally brand out there I was surprised to learn that Subaru did more than passenger vehicles. I love my car with all of my heart and I will never let anyone ir anything break that bond. Even if it costs thousands of dollars to get her back in shape. If I die I want everyone to know I probably died doing the thing I love the most. And I probably died smiling 10 seconds before. I will peruse this urge to become the better rally driver and better downhill driver.

Welcome to the autism.

this is incredibly lame and cringeworthy, but that is one nice fuckin subi
My 2002 dodge durango won't start it will turn over but won't turn on it reads error code no bus in the odometer and the shop I have it at wants 950 for a new pcm and no promise of it even fixing it. Should I pay for it or take it somewhere else
>>15633491
That's kind of a lot of money. I'd get a second opinion. How's the battery and connections? Definitely getting fuel, spark, and compression?

If you can change a video card in a computer, you can change your PCM
>>15633491

'05 Outback with 111K, pretty well optioned.
>liberals
Why?
CLEAN ONE OWNER NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I GOT
Are G-Bodys good? I like them a lot and plan on buying one as my first car. Mostly Regals with the v8 or a monte ss, here's on from an old craigslist ad I went to go see but didn't buy it.
>Pic related
>>15633347
They're good if you're a nigger
they are pretty basic cars. nothing special about them.
in my opinion the engines are all garbage.
the only exception is the turbo regals
>>15633355
What if I'm not a nigger though?
What do you keep all of your essentials in? i.e. jumper cables, small toolkit, etc.
I'd like to have a nice-ish looking bag to keep everything in one spot and not junk up my trunk. People ask to give the car a once over all the time at our weekly C&C, and it's sort of embarrassing when I have stuff everywhere
>>15633297
How much stuff do you have in your car? Does it not fit with the spare tire?
Usually I don't bring more than a jumper power supply, which doubles as a backup charger for my phone. I keep it in my work bag so I have it when commuting.
>>15633297
The only thing thing I have in my car is a CPR mask kit in my glovebox + tire changing stuff in spare tire well.
>>15633297
That's a great idea, to keep everything in a bag.
I have some spare fuses and relays in my ashtray, coolant, oil, and jumpers.
And a brick that I always chock my wheel with incase my ebrake cable snaps or something
