going to pick up a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with 87000 miles on the clock, no rust, full years MOT, full service history, 5 brand new tyres and in all round excellent condition.

It was very dark and all the roads were flooded. I didnt realize that it wasnt just a small puddle until it was too late. I normally pride myself on my driving ability but I guess Ill have to stop that after tonight.

I just learned a week ago that you could buy a Maserati with a 4.2 liter Ferrari engine that has a 7500rpm redline and a 6 speed for less than $20k. Just before I was looking at BMW 8 series which are also around the same price range. But of course there is the fear that cars like these will be endless money pits. Would you or have you ever taken the leap on a car that was once worth 6 figures?

I'd do it for a Testarossa, but they shot up in value over the past few years. I imagine you'd need a combination of patience, ability to do your own work, and a more practical car to own an older exotic. And it still wouldn't be cheap.
It would make sense to go the other direction and get something like a Lotus where you know engine parts are available.

I'm looking for some input on a decision. I'm looking to buy my first truck and I'm torn between two options. First one is a 78 Chevy bonanza.
>solid engine, drive train has no issues
>a few cosmetic repairs needed but nothing too terribly bad.
>speedometer doesn't work will need to fix
>260k miles
>still decent looking and owner is selling for only 1k dollars.
My second option is a 95 Ford F-150
>150k miles
>solid engine with no hiccups
>power windows, locks, etc
>cosmetic issues are at bare minimum
>extended cab
>downside is its 4900 dollars, which means I'll need to finance it with a 1k down payment probably
What do you guys think? Should I just pay a thousand bucks and slowly do some work on the Chevy? Or should I take the Ford that won't need any work right away, but pay it off for a little while?

The f-150. That chevy is going to get terrible mileage. If the f-150 has the 4.9L buy it immediately. Its one of the best engines ever built and will give you no problems as long as you remember to keep it well oiled. Its really nice having that extra room with the ext cab. That chevy is going to give you nothing but problems.
