Hey /o/, I'm sick of driving my piece of shit Camry, and there's a beautifully maintained Taurus SHO that's really close for $1000.
>beautiful leather interior
>5-speed
>2 owners (current is an old lady)
>156k miles
The problem is, there's a pretty loud knocking noise. I've been browsing forums and people have plenty of solutions for it, most are pretty cheap, and then if that fails I can just buy a new engine for $200.
Do you think it's worth the money / work? I don't want to end up with another piece of shit.

I highly doubt this. It's a rare engine. It only went in Taurus SHO's.

It's a pain, but the solution to most troubles is taking the car in for prepurchase inspection at a shop you trust. You could do 20+ PPIs for how much money you would lose buying from carmax.
