Im a freshman in college and my parent's are trying to buy me a car cause I can't go anywhere without a ride.
I was pushing for a baseline Hyundai Elantra because that's what /o/ suggested over the shitty Civic
They are afraid to shell out $17g's on a Hyundai car because they claim it's resell is dependent on the country of manufacture so they are really leaning toward Corolla LS
However, now they found a Slightly used 2011 Chevy Malibu with nearly 10,000 miles or so for $12,000-$13,000. The original owner was a millionaire who had nothing really useful to do with it so it just stayed in their garage for several years until deciding to sell it.
Now I'm researching and it says that the specific model and year 2011 of the Chevy Malibu had recalls and transmission fuck ups and I immediately warned my parents, but the dealer said it had 0 recalls or some bullshit obv trying to rid the car fast. So they're saying a Corolla is a good bet otherwise they don't want to buy an Elantra and say they could get something way better if they're paying close to $20,0000
Ultimately I just want a good car with a great sound system and isn't fucking archaic to the point where I'm forced to connect my phone to jack to play music on a shitty sound system. Can /o/ help me out?
