Let's chat.
And I mean, let's chat for real, without the recycled /tv/ and /sp/ memes clogging up the discussion.
Longer story short, I drove a cr-z for the first time the other day. I liked the experience, but that might be because my regular car is an insight and I have no self-respect.
My friend that was riding along with me liked it for the most part, but afterwards said he couldn't handle it - he said it was blueballing him and it pissed him off, as it wouldn't give him any extra power around 5k RPM which ruined it, as he drives a '99 prelude.
We basically decided that it was the engine that was holding it down, and everything else was fucking great.
BUT THAT'S ITS FUCKING THING.
IT'S A HYBRID.
So the question is, do hybrids even have a point? Was it even worth it in the end? They're like netbooks, the shitty missing link between laptops and tablets, that really have nothing that you want. Compromise that excels at nothing.
Was there ever a way to get this car right? Was there ever a chance? To get good mpg while maintaining performance?
Were hybrids a mistake?
Oh, yeah, TL,DR:
Was there ever a way for hybrids not to suck?

Obviously?
Currently waiting for Tesla to save us all with GLORIOUS SYNTHETIC AUTOMOBILES.

Partner had a CR-Z which I drove a lot - it's a car for a very specific niche which Honda handled incredibly badly - it's handsome and handles very well, with a chassis that could handle a much more powerful engine - they needed to have a version with a proper 2L VTEC engine in there and ditch the batteries and motors. The fuel eco never ever justified the weedy 1.5L + strap-on junk. Struggled to hit 50mpg - something the larger 200bhp diesel Volvo I have manages with ease (more like 60-70mpg) and with far better performance.
Honda have lost their way with an endless procession of sub-par cars that seem to have no clear reason to exist, the CR-Z being just one...
Hi /o/, this thread is just a quick reminder that Group B is never coming back.
Daily reminder that GM has LITERALLY NEVER won a group C race
Rotflmao
>>15806009
it might come back after the fall
>>15806009
How did Group B not kill more people?
I can't find it, but there's footage from inside the Audi as it crests the hill and the driver is basically driving flat out at a sea of people, it's insane.
I need a newish, big 4 door car, preferably with leather seats which get's around 30mpg combined, meaning probably a hybrid. I can go new or used but I'm going to be pouring on miles for the next 3 years so nothing high mileage. I'm trying to stay under $23,000.
I'm looking at an Accord, Avalon and Fusion hybrids right now. What's /o/'s advice?
Any of the 2.5l engines will push 30mpg combined.
I'd go with a Fusion 2.5l just because they'll be cheapest
>>15805987
>$23000
this looks salaryman enough, no?
>>15805998
I thought about getting a 2.5l Fusion with the lux package but dicked around with a 2.5 for two days and couldn't get the average MPG on it to push past 25. They're dumping the 16' hybrid models at pretty much the same price as the gas models in my area at the moment so I'm leaning more towards hybrids all around. I average about 160 miles daily and my area is full of hills and stop and go shit so adds up fast.

I'm looking to buy either a Mazda 6 or 3, a Honda civic, or a Toyota rav4. What are the pros and cons of each and which in your opinion is the best? My only problem with the Mazda is that the design is already 4 years old and will be outdated soon.
Mazda ftw
>>15805824
none. just buy a civic for 3k or fix your current car.
>>15805824
The Civic would probably be the nicer car, but the Mazda would be more fun to drive. Either of these would be good cars, just don't buy a fucking crossover

do Americans actually do this?
there are some really small towns in the middle of buttfuck nowhere where everyone knows each other and the town has a pop of like <500 people that do it. In the town where one of my aunts live they literally leave the keys in the ignition half the time and all of their shit unlocked cause everyone just stops in to say hello throughout the day, so they just leave everything open for them.
>>15805760
My grandparents do this. <100 people in their town.
It's pretty common for people to leave their spare/valet keys in the glove compartment becausw often the dealership will tuck them in there
Imagine
>Ford and Honda work together on new S2000
The original S2000 was the world-record holder for monst Horses per engine liter
Imagine a 4-cylinder with VTEC.... AND Ecoboost
>>15805654
Gay.
Would rather just have them make the S2K again without deviation from how it was first designed.
Is Ecoboost the new VTEC?
>>15805690
Close. It's an actual turbo, not "like a turbo".
If you were rich af, what car would you buy for your wife?
Me : Benz GLE63 AMG

a 1995 corolla RHD

Okay, this thread is only for people who wants to get married or are married already.
>have 2001 Toyota Camry
>headlight is out
>never changed one before but YouTube it and it's fairly simple
>new headlight doesn't light up
>jiggle it and it works fine
>turn lights off and on again to make sure
>put headlight back together
>it doesn't work
I don't know shit about vehicles. Am I going to look retarded going to Ford to have them figure it out for me?
>>15805529
You have a bad contact somewhere. Just check the contacts of the bulbs/sockets for suspicious spots and if that doesn't yield any results, follow the wires inside the headlamp. This is simple anon, you can do it. Post pics if necessary.
>>15805534
You have motivated me anon. I will try it now!
>>15805543
Try smelling for burned wires too.
i saw this weird looking car at night. can anyone tell me what car this is?
Looks like some sort of weird dodge stratus
i don't think its a dodge stratus. anyone else have an idea?
Looks like some sorta Dodge.
Stratus maybe?
Quite literally the best car colour ever
>pepe the car
It's a goodun if you can find a car that it matches. It makes %80 of cars look like shit.
>>15805492
I think you meant to say it makes 80% of cars look godly
Can a stancefag please explain to me why they think stretched tires/exposed lip/debilitating camber looks good? This isn't some rhetorical question, I'm not trying to imply it looks "objectively bad", I'm just so confused. I get low ride height, I get RICE in general, I get exposed rivets, wide bodies, all this shit.
But I just don't get stretched tires, tires that are so stretched that the lip of the wheel is poking out. Also huge camber.
Also, I "get" camber, especially front camber. Rice in general imitates race cars, because race cars have a cool image. Why are wide bodies, lips and wings cool? Because race cars have them. They make the car look faster, like a feat of engineering, and projects of an image of fast skillful driving onto the owner. Look at this BNR32, it has huge front camber. Probably not ideal, but not so excessive the engineers running the team didn't think it would be worth trying.
So if you did this to a sports car, I would think it's kinda cool. But why the fuck do rice/stancefags go so over the top, and in the rear too? Most riced/stanced out cars that get tons of love from their community have widebodies and aero that would not really look out of place on a race car. Sure they might not do the wind tunnel, and computer simulations that a real race team to do to tweak the aero so it is really efficient, but the look is there.
stance/ricefags pretty never go way over the top with their other design choices, so why do they do it for camber?
Retards like to get the full experience of being retards. The more shit they can get away with, the better.
To get the car as low as possible with the wheel flush and centered in the wheel well.
Stretch stops the tire rubbing on the bodywork.
whats the CRAZIEST car ever made hahahahahah?
