So i need a redpill on why some cars are illegal in the states? I understand some manufacturers don't sell to the US market, but why are some cars just a no no to own and get crushed when found in the states????
>>15810022
Because they didnt meet the minimum safety and legal requirements to be elligible for sale in the United States market. Once they are 25 years old, they are allowed to be sold here.
>>15810046
How long for a supra or skyline in the US???
>>15810046
Not necessarily that they don't meet them, but that they never went through they tests.

Recently bought NFS Prostreet for the PS3 for cheap since I had never played it. Physics are questionable at best and the AI is laughably slow, but I appreciate the anon who recommended it, I like racing games with a festival/event atmosphere. I felt that Dirt 3 was a major downgrade from Dirt 2 for that as well as other reasons, when things are all warm colors and there's music blaring and things it just feels like a nice place to be.
Is this Fiat's response to the Mx-5
>>15809938
It is LITERALLY Fiat's MX-5.
>>15809938
I really do hope that you know the facts behind the two and you're just trolling.
>longer body
>same wheelbase
I've thought for a long time how odd it is how fascinated people are of Grand Nationals. There's nothing particularly unique about their design. This applies to many other cars too. I have a theory that someone's perception of how good something looks is influenced by others. The more people who like it, the stronger the influence gets. Think of it as the "they can't all be wrong" mentality. Do you really like something because you came to like it on your own, or do you like it because other people like it as well? Is it a combination of both? Is your perception of subjectivity really belonging to you?
See: F40, R32.

a real skyline, in arizona with plates???
how is this possible??
Grand Nationals have the aesthetics for a G-body possible. G-bodies aren't necessarily too well loved, but it's a very cool car in terms of its uniqueness, especially for the time. The aesthetics are god-tier too, those fat arches, the mostly-black wheels, the front and rear fascia, it all just works as the 80s intrepretation of the muscle car.
I'm sure it'll have fantastic performance on the track, but I can't help but be a little bored by the Ferd GT. "GT" means grand touring, but this just seems to be pure race kar and it doesn't do anything new.
It's got Sport Cup 2's, because all track cars do that. It has twin turbos, because almost every supercar has that now. It has a 7 speed dual clutch, just like everyone else. It has a farty V6, because engine character is unimportant. The body is teardrop shaped with active aerodynamics, just like most track cars. The interior is spartan with carbon fiber and alcantara, like any McLaren or kit car.
It doesn't stand out amongst any other modern supercars. Just another streetable race car that laps Durrburgerking in seven minutes and who gives a fuck seconds.
>assmad gm fangirl detected
>implying I don't own an ecoboost myself
>>15809876
The car looks great, and will definitely handle well while the turbo V6 is a showcase of the advantages of downsizing. Why bother with inefficient, large engines when a small turbo engine can deliver similar or more horsepower while emitting less pollution and consuming less fuel? The Frod GT represents progress; if you want a supercar with a manual transmission and archaic bug NA engine, go look on the second-hand market.
>>15809876
>it doesn't stand out
It has a lightweight engine and chassis that will wreck anything short of 750k a side from a radical or ariel.
>>15809876
It's pretty expensive
hell/o/ people, ive got a 1979 Toyota Supra. 4ME EFI engine, bought it 6 years ago from the original owners family after he died. everything original on the car minus spark plugs and battery. thing took a shit after a few months, wouldnt start from no spark, parked it in one of my garages. finally after 5 years of sitting i finally found another 1979 at the junkyard, took the igniter and swapped it out. thing runs again miraculously
idles fine but at 3000rpm it sputters like hell and sounds like i have a 2-step. it barely lets me go past there to the redline. only other thing i swapped out from the no spark was the distributor, i played with the ignition timing today and no matter if i advance it or retard it i still get sputtering
could old gas be doing it? 5 year old 91 octane in it, but i was an automotive mechanic for 6 years and all the time i started cars that sat for years with probably 87 octane and they had no issues. id be thankful if anyone had some other ideas to try, im just happy it actually runs again
bump because we got a trip with one same generation that might help.
Dunno if the toyota general exists anymore, but if it does try there.
Also, just put some octane booster and maybe new gas in you poorfag.
Tomorrow I'm just going to let it run off the old gas and throw some new 91 in it, hopefully that solves it. I'm still astonished it's running again at all. I was ready to gut it for a 2j but didn't want to since it's a low numbers matching January 1979
comfy looking car

They're the site that said the z06 lapped the ring under 7 minutes lol
Is it an M3 killer?
It certainly looks better.
And it's the fastest 4 door around the Nurburgring.
And its a rear wheel drive alfa with a Ferrari 'inspired' engine.
That looks like shit. If you think otherwise you are provably wrong.
one day i'll trade in my baby alfa for one of these beauties.
>>15809530
>my opinions are better than your opinions
If you don't like opinions how do you deal with the FACT that its faster?
I have absolutely no experience with engines. If i buy the service manual for my car is it feasable that i could replace the piston rings by myself?
>>15809496
No experience? I wouldn't.
Watch a full long ass youtube vids about it then find an experienced friend that can help if needed.
Suck his cock and promise not to tell anyone.

Is there danger of me making things worse/breaking something else
sup /o/ anyone own one of these? any gripes about it? thinking about buying one
It's a corolla coupe
The Corolla will always be a decent buy if you need a daily. Its a very cheap car that can teach you a lot of basic stuff when getting into tuning.
>>15809432
do the corollas drive like the camrys? i hate the new camrys
What tarck is this? Saw it flying from Austin to Cincin. Pilot said about 100 miles north of Houston but I cant tell.
>>15809316
>so flyover he's litterally flying over
Looks like La Pintas Rojas up around Plano there
>>15809316
where is the tarck in your picture op?

i want to buy a new shitbox with 150k miles for 1800 dollars
everything in the engine compartment looks good but its a manual and and im worried the clutch might be worn and need replacing soon
On this car thats a $1000 dollar job which is more than half of the cars value
So my question: Is there any way to check a clutch to see how worn it is and if it may need to be replaced soon? or in buying used manual tranny cars is it just a blind hit or miss?
> disengage clutch
> engage clutch
> is it okay?
>>15809266
it works and drives fine but im worried the clutch might be worn (but not yet slipping) and in 5000 miles im gonna have a slipping clutch

>When ordered on the previous-generation Camaro SS, Chevrolet's 1LE package brought with it a full complement of braking and suspension upgrades geared toward enhancing the heavy ’Maro’s on-track prowess. Fast-forward to today, and the 1LE package is back, but now it can be ordered on both V-6 and V-8 Camaros. From 50,000 feet, the V-6 and V-8 1LE kits are identical, but there are subtle differences. Here’s what sets the 1LEs apart from each other—as well as lesser Camaros:
>Both 1LEs wear matte-black vinyl wrapping on their hoods and door mirrors, but the SS 1LE gets the same hood vents as other SS models. For those who’d prefer a more incognito look, the matte-black elements can be easily peeled off.

I havent driven mine in a few weeks and I had a guy literally knock on my door at 9 o clock at night asking if it was for sale. Fuck you guys.
B/o/ys,
I'm doing a research project on the industry/international business ramifications of the VAG diesel scandal.
If you guys have any good articles/links on anything related to the scandal, I'd really appreciate it.

Ask a grown-up to show you something called "Google" so you can cut'n'paste your little project, then you can go look at pictures of Naked Ladies and touch your tingly weewee.

Just looking for some interesting discussion, but I guess I'll just kill myself. Thanks senpai
