I've bought a car off of craigslist, but now I need to know how to sell one.

Specifically, how do you keep people from wasting your time? Should I use my phone number as a way of contacting or just an email?

And test drives; how do you keep people from joyriding or taking off with your car? Do you ask for collateral or something?

Any advise would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

What are the laws in the UK surrounding the building of your own vehicle, from the engine through chassis and bodywork?

As long as it passed an MOT, is road legal, etc. Is there no issue with a completely custom car?

if you can build your own engine some obscure regulation about indicator position shouldn't be a problem
>>
>>15815394
That is kind of my point though, I can't seem to find any laws surrounding home built engines and chassis which is probably the thing I would be most concerned about with legal terms. Just wandering how it would work in terms of car tax, insurance and legal stuff surrounding that.

It looks similar to this
http://redkapautomotive.com/Content/img/oem/brands/Mazda/PS_RK_SP74WB_F_Mazda.png
which is a Mazda service advisers uniform work shirt

but

My problem is this was purchased in the 70s or 80s as a birthday present to someone i know for the intention of casual wear not as a uniform

What i am asking is- Is it worth keeping this? or this this "rare"?

I'm seriously fucking mystified, /o/. I have a 97 Camaro that's been a bit of a project for awhile, I just barely got the brake lights working and have noticed a massive fucking problem with them. Mostly the fact that they work backwards. As in when I am not touching the pedal they turn on, and when I press the pedal they shut off. I figured out why this is happening, it's actually the brake pedal switch for the lights. Here's where things get really fucky; the switch is mounted in front of the pedal, towards the driver, meaning that when you press on the pedal it should let the plunger out and turn the brake lights on, and when you let off the brake pedal it should depress the plunger and turn them off. The way the contacts are set up within the switch (which I have bought several of from different retailers, including a fucking official AC Delco switch) seem to be set up to be closed when the plunger is depressed and open when the plunger is out. Literally what the fuck. Am I retarded? Is this entire series of switches engineered incorrectly? Pls help.

Pic related is the switch

This is what the contacts on the inside look like with the plunger out, e.g. the brake pedal pushed down. The bottom two contacts which are for the brake lights are open meaning no power to them, the top contact is for the third brake light which actually works entirely as it should.
>>
you could have installed the lights upside down

if not an easy fix would be to take the light fixtures out and wire them oppositely
>>
>>15814783
It's called a normally open and normally closed switch, learn the difference.
Not every witch turns on when you push them, some turn off, wow.
Also, most brake switches are self adjusting, as in when you install them they adjust to where the pedal is, but if you take it off and put it back on it'll be out of adjustment.

I work in what's referred to as a BDC, a business developement center. I'm the person that calls you when you submit your information to dealerships for quotes and whatnot. I'm closing my store right now, just me until 9.

What do you think of the Genesis? is it more like a lexus or like a BMW/Merc? Does anyone buy them?
>>

>>

Genesis is branching off into a highline brand, like Lexus and Acura. The Genesis, as a car, has been a success, both for the Hyundai brand and as a vehicle, selling competitively in its market segment.

Genesis buyers are generally assholes, along with Equus buyers, and it makes no sense. After incentives, you can get an Equus for well over 10k under invoice; you're not fooling anybody, buddy. You're blood ain't rich, or you'd be getting that S class.

Long post incoming.
I live in Denmark, cars are expensive as fuck and that means that there aren't that many out of the ordinary cars. Which means I might have to import it, unless I'm lucky to find one here.

I'm willing to spend up to 80k USD or
70k euro but bear in mind that if a car costs 70k euro it would cost around 150k euro in Denmark because of taxes and whatnot.
So probably up to 35k USD or 30k euro.

I've always wanted a WRX STi or a Evo but then again I've also looked at a million other cars and I don't know whether to go for an old car and upgrade that mofo or just buy a newer car which I can upgrade on the go.
It has to be around or under 300 HP or none of the insurance companies want to insure it.
Preferred 4 door sport models which can be driven on a daily basis but any suggestion is welcome.

To give you an idea, I've been looking at the following:
Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV 2015 TCT - 60k USD
Ford Focus RS 2010 - 45k USD
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII 2004 (pic) - 45k USD
VW Scirocco R Sport 2010 - 40k USD
And that's the Danish price in USD with taxes and all.

So yeah please give me some input, anything is appreciated. I've looked at cars for so long, I'm cheap as fuck but finally decided to use this amount.
Currently drive what your wife souls be driving - a 2013 Ford Fiesta 125 HK EcoBoost.

Tl;dr good reliable "sport" cars to buy for up to 35k USD or 30k euro

Why dont you use the money to move somewhere that cars arent stupidly priced?
>>
>>15814782
Love that answer but yeah I wouldn't get paid the amount that I am in Denmark (even tho I pay 45% in taxes).
So yeah.. Socialism and all.

Hey /o/, can we get a E36 appreciation thread? I want to buy a E30 and I need your guy`s help to change my mind and jump on the E30 band wagon. I certainly see the appeal of the E36 as it`s a beautiful , reliable and cheap car.
/o/ owners how is it to live with this car?
What would be a best engine on the car? I`m looking for reliability more than power.
I know this is still a underappreciated car and cheaper than the E30 so I would like to weigh the options here.
OP is a newfag so maybe I should lurk more but I just wanted to hear some opinions.

Might I suggest you consider the E34 as a compromise between the two?

>lovely classic BMW black-grille small-kidney styling
>comfy and roomy interior
>4 doors for more whores
>larger and more engine options
>tasteful bodylines
>more likely to be kept by kind old white men than boiracer stancecucks

OP clearly does not lurk at all otherwise this would be in the general >>15772671

One of my previous cars was an E36 M3.

The E36 was as absolutely Blast. Was never bored it in, rainy days were a constant giggle fest because drifting. The car punched well over its weight class in a straight line. With my best kill story being a 2011+ dodge challenger V8. He got the jump but at high end I pulled away.

The only real problems I had with the car, was an the OEM alternator failing at 160k, clutch master & slave cylinder, A battery, And In owing it for around a year, I replaced the rear tires around 3-4 times.

When it comes to a non M E36, I'd say a 328i(s) is the best way to go. The BMW M50 series engine is an absolute tank.

E36>E30 when it comes to a daily driver in my opinion. The interior is more up to date, less old car problems, they've hit probably their cheapest point, and not as prone to electrical problems as an E46. Which would also be a good choice if you wanted something a bit newer.

I've owned nearly a dozen.

It's my standard by which I judge other cars ... and until you move up to a 996T/NSX/something with a carbon tub I'm not sure there is anything better as an enthusiast.

The OEM cooling system sucks, changing a headgasket is a right of passage, and max usable hp is about 450whp on street tires (but 600whp is fun) because you can only stuff 255s in the back.

I'm buying an SUV for my dad to use in the winter because his mustang isn't cutting it in northern Michigan winters

He also lives on a road that is not plowed ever unless he pays someone to plow it

What kind of SUV should I buy him?
