my girlfriend drives a 2002 Ford Laser SR that's her first car, and it' been having issues that are completely taking her driving confidence away
basically she's been having power related issues, which have been intermittent and unfortunately only when she's driving
the car seems to get stuck after lowering it's speed and not wanting to get back up to speed (EG through roadworks) sometimes shaking
today she was taking off from a stop sign and the car struggled to move from her words taking 30 seconds or so just to get her to a speed where she could get to the side of the road
the car has already been through a mechanic and he changed out all the leads, sparkplugs and checked over the car without finding anything wrong with it, he took it for a drive, and obviously nothing went wrong when he drove it
my only ideas would be the coil packs or a friend had a stalling issue with the same engine to do with the belt tensioner
any ideas /o/ my missus could really use your help

her engine is the Mazda 1.8 L FP-DE DOHC I4 with 91 kW (122 hp) if that helps anyone
it's the same as many mazda 323's

Do you even know what wires and plugs he used? Hopefully ngk or denso. You should take it to a different mechanic. One that doesn't just throw parts at it.

When did this Alphonse shit start? I browsed /o/ frequently a while ago and remember this image, but I do not remember any mention of an "Alphonse" whatsoever.

Doesn't turn on. Gears are rusty as shit. As someone who does a decent (500km per year) amount of length offroading, a CJ5-7 would be amazing and there is one just sitting in my buddy's garage rusting away for the past 15 years.
It doesn't turn on and has a decent amount of "garage" rust from the humid summers and cold winters. What's the first thing to start doing to this walking thermite mixture to even get it started?
pic of hood underneath since not on my phone right now

Ok, by the looks of things, it's more work than the jeep's worth. Look on craigslist for one, you'd be better off.
If the body's OK, look for a totalled one and drop in the engine.
Start by turning the crank by hand. If it turns, check the fluid levels spray some starting fluid down the carb and try starting it, you'll probably need to put in a fresh battery at least temporarily. If it seems like it wants to run change the oil coolant and fuel (syphon old gas out as completely as possible, put in at least 5 gallons of fresh maybe even premium possibly with some fuel system cleaner in there. See if it'll go into gear and move a bit just enough to see if the brakes work (check brake fluid levels) then grease the shit out of anything creaky. Be on the lookout for fuel lines to bust. Change radiator hoses.

I have a budget of about 10k and know next to nothing about cars.
Have been looking around and i kinda like the feel of the Kia Soul 2012.
Is there anything terrible about vehicle or frequent problems worth mentioning?
Kijiji shows a few in my area at roughly 150 000 k/m
Am in canada.
Any advice would be greately appreciated
>Kia
No, buy a Honda Fit or something.
>>15821147
Shut up and buy a civic for 3k.
10k for a 5 year old used Kia is too much when you can get a 2017 forte for 15k. They're going to need serious work around the 150k mark, especially if they were neglected.
Hey /o/ my brother is getting close to buying a 1998 e36 m3, and I wanted to get your opinion on the car. What it's worth or if it's prone to problems or stuff like that.
Any comments or help is appreciated.

Sup /o/, Britfag here.
I have a budget of between £15-20k. Should I buy an E46 M3, or an E92 335i? Both would be manual, no SMG/DCT faggotry, and also I'm leaning to the 335i because the repair costs would be a little lower because no M tax.
Advice? I was tempted to stretch to £25-30k and get an E92 M3 but the repair costs would probably kill me eventually so that's very unlikely.
Advice? Opinions? Shitposts?

How often do you guys do it? Every 5k here.

Most tough car you had?
Mine Volvo 940
That machine was like a Tank.
1988 Acura Legend. 200k-~220k and miles all I needed to replace was the brake master cylinder and brake pads. I would regularly drive it from LA to NorCal too
86 Ford Crown Vic,
Goddamn thing leaked every fluid it had at 283000k, and the tranny was randomly slipping.
But it wouldn't die and it'd still snarl and burn the tires when i hit the gas.

sold it for $300
/o/ I need help finding a car. I've owned a few different cars and right now im driving a beater '97 EL autotragic I picked up for $600 for commuting 4 hours a day. Getting a new job that'll be paying 50k a year in 9 months. I owned a 04' WRX before this but the gas was way too much for commuting so I sold her. New job wont require any kind of commuting, if anything maybe 15 minutes to get there. I've always wanted a muscle car but living in Canada, RWD isn't the greatest idea but is doable. I've driven a 89' Camaro (No balls) and recently a 12' chrysler 300C with the 5.7 which im really digging but it only comes in auto. I've looked at a couple 4 and 6 cylinders but nothing has stuck out too much to me. I loved my WRX but I don't really want another subaru. So in short what's a relatively reliable, fun, quick 8 cylinder or sporty 4 banger that's been released in the last 5 years? Would prefer sedan or hatch but not opposed to a coupe.
I've driven the GTI, and the Golf R and RS are out of my price range. Have no desire to own another hunk of shit Mazda either.

Hey im new to /o/ so forgive my ignorance in the way things are done here.
I come to you with a question, you all seem to know your shit, or at least more than me.
So I drive a 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco (bought it from stepdad last year at a ridiculous low price of 4 grand and it was running perfect only 60k miles). I've taken good care of the car, high grade synthetic oil, regular check ups, good gas and everything. Generally its actually a really great car, I get awesome mileage, very comfortable cabin with pretty neat features, car responds well and can actually pick up and go pretty fast pretty quickly if you need it (Despite CVT).
However at 65k I started hearing a weird clicking/tapping noise when accelerating. It got worse and the engine light came on so I took it into the dealer and the had to replace the cam shaft. Now the car is at 75k and its beginning to make that fucking noise again, I am positive it is the exact same noise as last time so I assume a cam lobe is getting worn again. My question is why the fuck is this happening? Like the shit just got replaced. Am I retarded or something? Sometimes I accelerate fast (drive on i45 a lot) and with that shit CVT it'll run at high rpms (like seriously 6000-7500) for a good 3-4 seconds. Could that be the problem?
Take it back to the dealership and complain. They clearly didn't fix it right the first time.

It's most likely seized or worn hydraulic lifters.
You get to have one fictional car.

I'd claim the Interceptor with doggo included of course.
