What's the worst damage you've done to your car because of some small mistake?
I didn't close the hood enough and it didn't latch, just one fo those things, you don't think I should double check the hood to make sure I closed it, you just shut it and get in
Flew open when I was driving, cracked my windshield, hood ruined, embarrassing

Was replacing the parking brake shoes on my old Volvo 240. Got called into work after I got the old shoes out, so I tied the end of the cable up out of the way and put the wheels back on. It wiggled loose on the highway and got caught on the inside of the rim. It ripped off at the arrow and the end of the cable was ricocheting all over the inside of the room, making a hell of a racket.

Ended up snipping the cable and just parking in gear lol. The car was only worth a few hundred dollars.

Newfag alert. Can anyone direct me to a good website to buy some 14x6 rims for a P195/70R14? I can't seem to find anything. When I type in 14x6, it sends me to 15 inch rims for some odd reason.

You want at least 15" wheels anyway. Your tire options are much better and you can get better tires for cheaper. What car is this for?

just picked up a 96 m3 to setup as a weekend toy/track car, its bone stock right now any recommendations or tips for a good track setup?

Replacing everything that's made out of rubber and cracking/worn out with stuff that's not worn out. So this means LCAs (bushing/balljoints), rear trailing arm bushings, motor/transmission mounts, shocks, and tierod assemblies. Along with a few minor gaskets (likely valve cover and oil filter housing).

And while you're there it'd probably be a good idea to drop the oil pan and do a pan baffle, safety wired oil pump nut, reinforced oil pickup, and front subframe reinforcement plates.

90% of the work you'll be doing on it will be just replacing worn out things. Thankfully despite being a 20 year old car its still very capable and advanced for its age (such as having factory spherical bushings in the rear trailing arms in the early 1990s).

Assuming your car is in 100% mint shape like it's currently 1997 the most I'd do is slap a squared tire-setup (245 or 255/40/17s) of a decent summer tire (Michelin PSS/Hankook RS3s/Direzzas), rear shock tower reinforcement plates ($20), and a decent alignment, have fun.

I like www.fcpeuro.com and www.rmeuropean.com for parts. The BMW Mini Parts Store is pretty good for OEM parts.

awesome thanks for the advice, i know the shocks are pretty worn out, im going to bring the car to work this weekend and give it a good once over

replace the thermostat housing with a metal housing. it's plastic stock. it will rape you in the pocket.

Deloreons are cool. Only people living under a rock, wouldn't know that they are actually horrible to drive. Though you drive it anyways, because it has a giggle factor and you get attention.

I wouldn't take a long trip in one though.

For your area, what is the worst piece of shit poverty car most commonly seen? for me, its these, or maybe a dying ford focus.

If they have a small oxy/fentyl dealing operation or a relative just died, they usually roll in a chrysler 300, mustang, explorer, or older german luxury car

Is this the best modern supercar?
27 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
No its a fat gt chassis
>>
911 R is better. Your taste is decent though.

I like what Fatt Marah said about it: obtaining supercars not only required money, but also the skill to drive them without killing yourself. Now they are easy to drive as Corollas, with exception of this, which has a 7 speed manual dogbox most people would have a problem operating.
>>
>>15822758
Any supercar with a manual trans is best. That leaves whatever the fastest 911 is with a manual, the last gen R8 V10, etc...

So i bought my brother a beater. 1982 Accord. I got it from a customer through the shop i work at. Now i've restored many classic cars and worked on countless newer cars, but this thing has me stumped.

Short version:
It randomly stops charging. I've replaced the Alternator, voltage regulator, replaced the Main fuse, cleaned off grounds, checked all the fuses, etc. It charges, then randomly stops. Sometimes it will charge for days or weeks then stop. And sometimes it'll last minutes or hours. Does anyone have any experience with these things?

First off it's not a total piece of shit. Only has 81k, maintained at the shop i work at for years, long before i joined. Timing belt replaced, constant maintenance, blah blah blah. It's a great little car. And i only paid $700 for it. I cant find any info on identifix or online, and i really dont have time to tear this thing apart between work, my side jobs and all of my project cars at home.

To add, has the battery ever been dead or are you just worried that the gauge is low and haven't given it to bro because of said gauge reading?
