>tfw no garage
>constantly panic about car being on street
>car gets dirty from rain all the time
>can't work on your shit without people bothering you
>one time builders working on neighbours roof threw a bunch of shit on my car rather than asking me to move it, scratched my shit up
>old car so sometimes central locking plays up and rolls down the windows
>retarded kids play on their bikes with ramps and shit near where I park
>only other place to park is a gravel car park where people kick stones at your car
>live in a really good area but still worry about break ins or keyings
Anyone else know that no garage feel? What kind of steps do you take to prevent damage? I want a nice car but I just can't even bring myself to buy one because it's not worth the risk of parking on the street.
>>15910173
Used to, and it drove me crazy trying to keep a black car clean. Every time I washed it I noticed a new dent or scratch from some lazy dependent fuckface not giving a shit about other people's property.
But then I discovered that I could have a second car and that I could leave my fun one(s) in the free parking garage
>>15910173
> Park car on driveway like 99% of the population
> Rain is mostly water, makes it cleaner half the time
> Don't have an anxiety disorder, car's covered by CCTV anyway
> Can easily pull video files from the CCTV for evidence, police are just fine with being handed a cheap USB drive with it on
> Don't live in the ghetto, car isn't vandalised anyway
> Newer car, central locking can be told to roll the windows down remotely
> I have no idea what the control sequence for that is
> Only time it ever does that is while doing maintenance with the keys in my back pocket, while wearing tighter jeans.
> TFW my arse knows more about the car than my brain

> Rain is mostly water, makes it cleaner half the time
What does this light mean?
Surprising fact: 90% of cyclists don't know the answer!
For most drivers it's the "off, that was close" drive by signal
>>15910048
This light means CARS have to stop, this shit doesn't apply to bicycles. If you hit me I'm suing I don't give a fuck.

hey guys, i have been driving for just over 3 years now and i'm sick of driving automatic. it makes me lazy and ive found myself texting while driving and dozing off more often, so a little challenge i think would help me. i recently had my friend teach me the basics of stick on his truck and it was really refreshing! anyways, i also want it to be a little sporty and fun to drive, but a daily driver to get me to work and school. i'd also like to learn more about cars so i want something i can work on myself and get to know cars better, because my dad didn't teach me shit. i really love how hatchback 240SX look, and i am a snowboarder so i like the extra storage for our boards. i know most tend to be unreliable because drifters and racers have fucked them up, but i was wondering if any of these looked like a good starting point. I will probably be able to sell my car for around $1000 - $1500 and i'm willing to put about $5k of my own money into this as well.
here's what i've found in my area:

just wanted to get /o/'s thoughts and opinions because you guys helped me with my first car purchase and helped me stray from my 16y/o idea of getting a 70's camaro and i'm glad i didn't lol.
You have a good mind for what you want and desire. I'd check out the first one op. Welcome to manual bro. Just so you know truck manuals are a bit different than car manuals. Almost identical but different. You will see.
>>15909542
same. my first thought was the first post as well, because mister military man seems to have quite the technological know how. The other two are very sparse on info, could be diamonds or turds, more likely to be turds, knowing the 240's reputation as a duriftu missile.

>>15909548
appreciate the support guys. would it be worth asking some questions to the other two? mileage, additions to the car, how many previous owners maybe? i do agree the first one seems like the safest bet so far though. definitely going to message that guy
Need help, I'm going to a dealer to buy a car friday (never have bought from a dealer before) and I need to talk him down from 7500 to 5000 or I'll be in debt.
The kbb for the car (5th gen lude) tops out at 3800 for a private party and 5500 from a dealer with 4400 being fair from a dealer. The problem is that the car is fucking immaculate 1 owner and has 80k only with all maintenance records everything done on time so if I dont get this it'll be a heck of a lot of waiting for another good one to show up.
I found a salvage one with 69k on it for 5500 on my local craigslist so maybe I can use that to try to help talk him down, but I'm pretty clueless. Any tips?
>>15909475
mint ludes are hard to find. you might get him to 6k. but definitely not 5 unless you suck his dick.
>>15909572
Well shit.
Also I forgot to mention, they've had it in stock for quite a long time. I first saw it a month and a little ago but the history report shows it first was sold to a dealer back in January. So hopefully he's tired of it sitting or something, though I dunno if it's shifted dealers and stuff.
>>15909475
>dealer
U better lude that ass up, boy
What's the point of owning a car for the sake of "performance" if its under 200bhp? A Maxima can take a corner like any Miata and could smoke it in terms of power.
If you're poor, just admit you own one and you're poor.

What do you expect, it's the American lifestyle to live way beyond your means. Nobody has any business driving a car worth more than $40,000. I am constantly appalled by how many people drive high value cars when the average American income is like $35K. I have since learned that literally all Americans are retards and have no financial sense or financial discipline. Borrowing money to spend on a car is the dumbest thing ever but like 90% of Amerkunts are doing it. How the fuck is this country not nuked into the ground already.
Only ever paid cash for cars, never bought a used car, was raised with 5% rule that I could never spend more than 5% of what I made/earned/saved that year.
Multimillionaire driving Toyota Camry/entry level Lexus for life brah. Masochistic self control for the win, no fun allowed in life ever.

>>15909631
So how's that pos 20 year old civic? Cause if you never spend more than 5%, even if you're making 100k a year, you're still driving some shit heap.
Granted, a lot of people live beyond their means, but I fight they would rather have a nicer car than something else, let em.
>>15909693
SPeak for yourself buddy, recently picked up a GS350 AWD.
100k is not even a high income

Is there any real reason beyond "muh manual" that I would need my shitbox to be a manual car instead of automatic?

I just need good gas mileage and something easy to work on myself since poor.
Doesn't need to be a speed demon I live in a speed trap city with high traffic and i'm not a boy racer.
>>15909003
Objective: better gas mileage, manual transmissions are far simpler and easy to work on, keeps you more awake and focused on driving. Subjective: feels better, makes you look cooler, helps you appreciate and understand the car more intimately.
>>15909026
Two higher mpg highway is nill for me.
Don't care about "higher focus" and looking cool.
Most of that list is taking the piss.
>>15909003
I live in NYC, I drive a manual. No one taught me, learnt from YouTube vids. I take the belt everyday so stop and go traffic is my life. Traffic is no excuse not to get a manual. I'd take the Corolla or the civic. They ain't fast but you'll save on gas and on repair bills.
Although I do drive a manual, I am looking for a second car that will be automatic, but not because shifting gears is hard mainly because no one in my family can drive stick
How can I change am oil?

horrifically ugly.
not being sarcastic, it legitimately is.
the headlights are disgusting, and the entire front end looks like it was a sesto elemento that was put into vendor and squished from the front and sides.
gross.

anything i should look out for in terms of maintenance?
I know the stereo sounds kind of subdued...
anything under the hood or underbody?
Thanks! Will bump with girls&cars
My dad drove his for over 200k mile till he got into an accident. For some reason the service people couldn't align it properly nor figure out what caused the car to shake so much when going past 40 mph.
He replaced it with a 2007 model and the same problems exist...
>>15908688
I had one. Only issue was a trans solenoid at like 150k, but I advised the fuck out of that transmission so idk. Awesome car, 9/10 would own another in a heartbeat.
