Not sure if you guys have seen these yet. They were filed December 2014 but they didn't actually get published until late June, a bit after the last ones that were big news.
This car isn't coming until probably 2018 or 2019, so these patents will be 4-5 years old by the time it comes out and a lot can change.
22 - EGR cooler
24A - EGR cooler bypass valve
23A - turbo, duh
25A - electronic throttle.
42 - Intercooler, duh. I'm going to be disappointed if this doesn't end up being an a2w one.
>>16002930
>be disappointed if this doesn't end up being an a2w one
why? are you retarded or something?
Not pictured:
Oil cooler is water cooled.
The turbocharger has a condenser. ??? Maybe that's supposed to say compressor.
11a - exhaust port
20B - flow control valve
30 - distribution regulating valve
>>16002966
No, are you sure that's not just you?
12 Water jacket
12a The 1st course
12b The 2nd course
20A - water pump
The water jacket is divided up in a top and bottom side. With the exhaust up top, it's going to be hotter there.
Bottom is a comparison to previous lay out. New engine is smaller despite being 1.6l, you all knew that already though.
Can someone help me identify this car? I think it might be a Miata but I may be wrong.
>>16002909
no it's not a piece of shit miata
it's just a generic car made for a shitty disney movie

Are those polishes with the fancy marketing really worth the money or are they just hype?
T-Cut and other cheap polishes work well enough. Never had any trouble getting rid of fading, scratches or spiderwebs. Been using T-Cut for 15 years or more.
>>16002715
>T-Cut
Very old school.
smells bad, doesn't work in direct sunlight, hard to work, very wet (slings like a twat on a rotary or DA).
There are better products
Different products are marketed to different people for slightly different uses. There higher quality materials used for higher quality cars, and forgiving lower quality materials used for the average Joe, and then dogshit for those buy 1 get 2 washes free places where it only looks shiny for a day or two and the scratches become more and more visible.
>>16002748
All true, but in its defense, its runny for a reason.
Its meant to be applied by hand.
I wouldn't use it with a buffer because it takes off paint real quick.
I have fond memories of T-Cut. A lot of people seem to hate it now.
Years ago I took my Dad's Mk1 Escort out and ended up scraping the side on some hedges.
It polished right out with T-Cut and he never found out.
Also had a LandRover that we painted with a brush and smooth Hammerite.
We flatted down any brush marks with 600 grit and the scratches actually polished out to a good shine with T-Cut.
All by hand.
The color was Eggplant/Burgundy.
It went dull pretty quick but came back with a good polish.
Then within a few weeks it would start yellowing again and by the end of the year it was completely Brown.
Pub talk was that a hidden ingredient in T-Cut was causing the paint to fade prematurely.
Has anyone here driven both transmissions? What are your opinions on them? Keep the memes to yourself.
Specifically the ones in the Mustangs.
>>16002501
the auto is a slushbox, it is a okay transmission, but that is just it,it is so okay there is not much else to say about it. Good for daily driving but really good for anything too sporty. When i test drove it i felt like like it got in the way between me and the engine but sense i drive manual that should be expected. Paddle response is not super quick either, but hey its an auto with paddles that gets the job done for most normies.
MT-82 Now normally i would shill for manual here. But i will be honest, the mt-82 is not the best manual. I would STILL prefer this to the auto any day though. The transmission has gotten better over the years, but it still suffers from clunkyness that can sometimes screw with shifts. With some mods the transmission can be made much better(bushing and better shiftier). I really just hope ford switches to tremic like the GT350 to eliminate the problem once and for all. Just swap out the clutch assist spring and its great in most conditions.
I actually have.
starting with select shift. it feels ok compared to most auto manumatic style stuff, but it's still not as fun as manual. Pretty fucking solid for daily use and it can kick down for passing easily and feels okay. Just some minor delay. ones in the mustang are way better than any of their other ones.
The 6 speeds in fords are great. Some have synchro problems, but it's kinda rare. I've heard the mustang manual trans can struggle with power upgrades or something and people tend to upgrade.
If you're going to buy a mustang I'd just go with the 6 speed. The clutch pedal on new fords are easy for daily use, hill start assist, rear view camera, and really good visibility make it an easy daily.

I'm buying a 2017, but there are none in my area, so I need to have one shipped over from somewhere else. The issue with that is I can't find one to test drive, so I'm here trying to get opinions.
In terms of driving dynamics, what makes the manual more fun to drive? Can you put power down easier? Does it sound nicer since you can maintain revs? What else is there?
Hey /o/, I've been looking up and down and I can't find that picture with that guy with the crashed r32 in a ditch and him doing the captain morgan pose

So, I'm thinking about picking up an ATC250SX because they're kinda cheap near me, and I already have a 250R (not liquid cooled sadly). Any thoughts, /o/?
Also, post your offroad toys.
>pic unrelated, just a 250SX
Guess I should probably post my ATC250R when I was fixing a few things
Any tips on tuning the carbs on these things?
>>16001957
Do it. I have a TR200 which is the ATC's two wheeled cousin. That engine makes stump-pulling torque (at least for a 4 stroke 200) but the bargain bin brakes, suspension, and everything else mean it's pretty limited outside of some family-friendly dune and trail cruising.
Also, the valves are adjusted with sliders, which makes it super easy. All you do is pop the cover off, loosen the nut, move it over X amount of tick marks, then tighten it. Boom, your 30 year old bike runs like new.
>>16001990
I don't know about the 250R but on my TR200 it usually needs a good clean far more often than a tune. Just be sure all your jets and channels are clear, your float and needles move freely, and put it back together the way it came apart.
Sometimes the float needle (the thing that tells the carb when it's full and stop pouring gas into me pls) will physically go together a few different ways, but it has to go in the RIGHT way or you'll overfill your carb and leak gas everywhere. I learned this one the hard way with my raptor, the float needle had a wire loop at the base, and I put it on the float arm inside the loop when it was supposed to be underneath the loop or some shit like that. It took me all fucking day to figure it out too. Shamefru.
Most factories jet their carbs kinda lean even at sea level, but offer charts with the correct jetting. I have no idea if they did this for the ATCs and TR though, these were Honda's red-headed step children.
AFAIK other than that the only way to tune them is with plug burns, but that's time consuming and you need a new plug every single time you check it.

Why do my gears always grind when up shifting?
I replaced all my synchros and double clutching helps a bit, but It still grinds really bad.

You're not touge enuf
>>16001922
You're probably not using enough oil, the right oil, something else is worn (the gears themselves maybe?) Or your gearbox is ksut naturally clunky. For example the New Ventures (1500, 3500) that come in GM trucks and some Dodge trucks is naturally clunky going into 1st, & 2nd
http://www.caradvice.com.au/490266/european-car-makers-to-upsize-engines-to-meet-real-world-emissions-tests-report/
Car engines will be increasing in capacity again because small turbo motors can't pass real-world emission tests. So something good did come out of Dieselgate after all.
>in other news, car makers fuckign scramble to slam cheap hybrid tech into everything or move to EVs as fast as possible to meet CAFE standards

V12s can return?
no more 4 cylinder bimmers thank fuck... bmw had 2.0 inline sixes back in the late 80s. i don't understand why didn't just use that design and slap a fucking turbo on it instead of making 4 cylinders
What's the most powerful car that fits the criteria o

Rank the colors from best to worst.
I do not give a fuck about your opinion on the car nor "if they're all shit". Just rank.
>no purple
>>16001562

>>16001567
Purple doesn't work on an Aventador
It's the scummiest, most cowardly thing to do. Damage someone else's property for no reason. Surely this must be reserved to people with destructive personalities. Is it jealousy? I'm really close to buying myself a dashcam to cover each side of my car to protect myself, should there ever happen to me.
My mom did it to random strangers who had political stickers she didn't agree with, or sometimes she didn't like the car they drove.
Before I cut communication with her, she keyed my truck because it was "poisoning the earth".
I never will know why. This car was brand fucking new and it was keyed within a week, I suspect the neighbor of doing it since we've always been near enemies and one of his doors is right by our driveway. Crime of opportunity I guess.
>>16001523
I'd never key a car but I've come close to purposely hitting my car door against people parked way too fucking close in the small lot at my laundromat
Anyone else have a problem with neighbors always asking you for help on their cars? Everyone knows I work on cars so they keep bugging me all the time to help them and get a free diagnosis. It's driving me nuts now that I have to hide from them.
Why don't you just help them, you fucking faggot. Quit being such an entitled little shit.
>>16001516
I do help them asshat. Problem is they now expect me to help them and their friends as well all the time
