We all know that top gear is a faked scripted sitcom
but why is it scripted to be biased against the United States Of America?
>>16011885
because europoors take any chance to get back at america for being better than them
shut up faggot nobody cares. how's tbe bus these days?
>>16011885
>people still think american cars cant turn
>american cars are now beating out cars that cost hundreds of thousands more
its actually kinda sad how some other companies aren't trying
Talk me out of buying an MR2 o

Where? Proof?
For some reason I've been obsessed with the idea of getting a murdered out Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon with ultra dark window tint and everything.
Should I do it or will I regret it later?
>>16011714
Everyone will think you're a nigger before you get out of the car
It will look badass and make people think you're working for the government, but the gas prices will kill you.
>>16011719
Uh, I got news for you. They would be making the right assumption lol.
Sex in cars:
Which car is the best car you have fuck in? Which is worst?
For me, is in picture - 1975 Buick Electra a best because roomy
Worst was 1978 Datsun 280Z. Helped that the girl was a midget though.
Grand marquis is the best I've fucked in
Nissan nx1600 was the worst but I made it work lol
>>16011484
First car I had sex in was a 1997 Ford Explorer. Pretty comfy, considering the space in the back after I laid the seats down.
I'm a 25 year old virgin.
What are some automotive jobs that pay well and are enjoyable? Anything you have in mind, or if you have or had any experience or input on auto related jobs.
Is being a technician any good? Anyone have experience with UTI?
Automotive engineering or design?
How about being a salesman?
Anything would be appreciated.
>Is being a technician any good?
Depends
>Anyone have experience with UTI?
Don't go to a for profit school, go to community college if you want to learn to wrench
>Automotive engineering or design?
Doesn't have much to do with the hobby, you aren't going to be designing cars, just small components, this is after years of school, internship, and getting lucky enough to get a job with a good auto manufacturer
>How about being a salesman?
Seems horrible
>>16011513
So what would you recommend then, I want to work with cars and enjoy it while making a decent income but I can't seem to find anything that doesn't have a catch to it.
>>16011534
Go get an entry level job at a shop and see if you like the environment. Just because you like cars doesn't have anything to do with liking working in the industry.
Why did they stop making the Solara
It appeal to neither typical toyota costumers or auto enthusiasts
at the time people were in to 4D cars and the market was huge for them. But the trend is shifting back to the early 2000s and SUVs are back on top now.
2d coupes, unless mustang/camaro/porsche/challenger/bmw, the market is too small.
>>16011460
Isn't the accord coupe basically one of those? or was the accord coupe still around when they made the solara?
Does removing carbon build up ever make you want to quit smoking? Also, redpill me on carburetors.
Was trying to figure out why my fox sometimes wants to cough when I try to open it up especially in second and really looking at all three carbs it came with. The two Edelbrock one are identical. Stamped 8867 unless I'm blind. Doors this suggest at one time the car was running double carbs? That's a thing, right?
Carburetors are the superior form of fuel delivery as noted by the purity of combustion without electronic assistance
>>16011392
>three carbs
Wew
Hey fags, just bought a "new" DD, and I'm wanting to replace the brake pads and rotors. Any good but not too expensive brands? I was thinking of getting EBC's, but thats going to be a last resort. I don't want shitty Autozone stuff either though. My DD is a 2006 Toyota Avalon.
>>16011381
Buy Premium Centric Rotors of Rockauto
http://www.centricparts.com/products/centric-premium-brake-rotors
Do not get slotted, or drilled.
Pads... just dont get race/track pads. I think street is the normal stuff, but just so you know, with any aftermarket pads like that, they work well only when hot. So when you're driving on the highway, and start braking for that off ramp, your pedal feel is gonna be shit
>>16011381
I had those galvanized dimpled with slots, warped within 2 years.
Initially it would only do it at medium-to-heavy braking on the highway then it would do at all times when you're doing faster than 45.
For rotors? EBC a shit.
>>16011499
>warped within 2 years.
Rotors dont warp. And before you reply, do some research.
You get 10 minutes to talk with anyone related to automobiles; company founders, designers, actors, racecar drivers, etc.
Who do you choose and what do you talk about?
I'd reveal modern pedestrian safety standards to Virgil exner

I hear a few and am wondering what /o/ thinks the risk / reward of these insurance loopholes are:
>have cottage
>use that as residential address
>drive downtown 4/7 days of the week
>net saving $150/month
I suppose if you crash downtown on a wednesday more than twice, you're fucked?
>be female
out of the question for /o/. what about transgenders?
>buy an old porsche 944
>$4000, 1985
>classic car insurance being $300/YEAR
>daily it anyway
is there a downside to this thing? it says that you can't use this as a daily so why not just claim you ride the bus every day and take it driving up north every saturday for like 8 hours to rack up the appropriate mileage?
>>16011224
If the insurance company finds out you've been fucking them over when you have an accident, they simply won't pay out and you'll be screwed.
Just do it right and stop being a jew.

this picture makes me uncomfortable everyone staring at the camera

Stop being a Shitpost Guy
are service intervals a meme? a shill to rob us of money?
engine oil at 15k kms? no difference in oil at 15k or 30k. could probably drive it longer. just saved around 60$ worth of oil and 10$ oil filter.
air filter. check if its dirty. can probably last around 100k kms instead of 40k
is there enough coolant in the reservour and your car runs at steady temperatures on longer travels? leave it the fuck alone.
do breaks feel good? no need to change anything.
are belts looking fine and quiet? no need to change them.
so why are you paying stupid amounts of money for your car services?
320k kms currently on my honda accord and no problems.
>>16011164
theres an amount where its, check and if its good dont replace. But for other things its like replace before you need to because you dont wait till a belt snaps to replace it.
>>16011164
left air filter in for around 200k kms. changed it for a new one and no notable difference. same consumption, no noticable increase in power.
the only thing that was notable when i changed trans oil at 280k. shifting was noticable smoother.
>>16011164
Op tryna find a reason to engine swap
What does /o/ think about the following cars:
370Z, Cayman S, Mustang GT 4.6
Thinking about getting one of these not sure which yet
>>16011051
>370z
why are you even considering this car? its a piece of shit
>cayman
pretty based desu
>mustang
dunno much about it but it cant be worse than 370z aka poormans gtr
if i were you id get the cayman or a 911, where im at theyre pretty close in price but I think the cayman S has similar HP so caymans probably better.
>>16011051
370 is god machine, mustang slow and cant turn
>>16011066
t. bus rider
I actually enjoy driving while feeling like gliding on clouds...
Depends on the car. Check out an 80s to early 90s Bentley/Rolls or a Ferrari 456, they blow todays luxury cars out of the water (when they work), nobody makes super plush cars anymore since that segment got dragged into the performance wars for some reason
fuck, there's already a thread about it, made 3min before me when I was looking for an image wtf.
>tfw people want to feel comfy at the same time no matter where on earth
Usually age is indicative of getting old
What is the comfiest car to drive for extended periods?
Car specifically, no trucks/vans/SUVs/etc.
And no Twingos!
>>16010985
where's the shift stick
>>16010985
Practically, an overdrive capable Chevrolet Silverado. For cheap ones, maybe a Volkswagon Camper. And if you really want to cheap out, I'd recommend a Porsche Cayenne.
You didn't say anything about price.
Can it be done or should you use that high intensity brake cleaner instead?
Same shit. The important thing is that it cleans grease off and evaporates cleanly. Brake cleaner fumes are likely less noxious than acetone though.
>>16011003
So there's no reason why I should pay $7 for 500cc of break cleaner if I could just use the acetone available at my work (which costs us $15 for 20 litres)?
>>16010973
It's a good thing plasticiser so don't get it on any gasket, rubber part, O-ring and stuff.
Don't get it in any oils or lubricants you obviously need.
