I'm in the process of repainting the rusted parts of my undercarriage.
Does anybody else do this or am I just obsessive? Rust is my mortal enemy. Pic is not mine, just some random image from google.
Never handled rust before. Dont you have to sand it to bare metal, prime, and repaint it?
I repainted mine last year. Rust is the only thing I really bother to deal with on the body and undercarriage, otherwise it will eat up the car at some point. Fucking salt, man.
>>16167547
You could sand it, but since it's under the car and nobody is going to see it, it's not a big deal.
What I did is take a dishwashing brush from the dollar store and scrub the rusted areas to remove as much dirt and rust as possible.
Then I spray pic related over all the metal parts. It's a flat matte black, doesn't require a primer, and can be sprayed directly over rusted metal. I put on 2 or 3 coats, and it lasts a few years.

I live near the Great Lakes so I'm in the rust belt. Fuck salt indeed.
>want to buy my first car
>all great looking cars have massive manufacture failures, drink gas like a 16 year old girl on her first nigger party or need vital parts replaced almost yearly
>all the cars that need nearly no additional payment and require practically no gas look like absolute dogshit
Where are all the good looking cars that don't break down every 500 km?

You posted it mate. Really depends on your definition of good looking, but the twingo is the cutest car on the road imo
>22 year old male in the USA
>Can do like $1000/mo in payments no problem
>Like really exotic looking cars
>New or used, prefer used
>Owned a few Jaguars before so high cost of ownership isn't a problem
What's the most exotic looking car I can get in this budget? I don't like all the boring looking "luxury cars" driving around. Gotta get my (blond white guy) Arab sheikh on.
(Pic offensive and unrelated)
Your search is over.

This. Amazing car for the price.
Are these any good? I can't help but want one.
>>16166763
chevy quality with a luxury tax on everything
>>16166774
Modern (last 5-ish years or so) Cadillacs are actually very good, would definitely buy an ATS coupe down the line if BMW didn't offer the M240i.
>>16166774
Why don't people just get the Suburban instead of the Escalade. I never understood this.

>"Well...it's, uhm, not what we're looking for, it's quite cramped at the back and it's a decades old chassis.
>"Well, it's a bit uncomfortable because it's a sportscar...you wanna talk about cred...?"
>we just walk way laughing at this dumbfuck thinking a VW Jetta MKIV is a sportscar.
why would a business owner want somebody who is going to buy anything hanging around their store?
>>16166643
Because car dealerships aren't Wal-Marts.
I seriously hope nobody just walks into a stealership and purchased their second most expensive asset without doing proper research and contemplation.

Should I do it /o/?
also what should I look out for on these things other than the head gasket problem?
>>16165848
No.
Unless you're buying either an H6 or a turbo Subaru, you're wasting your money.
>>16166065
why do you say so? This wouldnt make a decent daily driver for the winter?
no, that thing haa probably been beat to hell
never buy a car with a new engine, if the owner neglected it to the point of needing an engine swap, I can't imagine how bad it is
So, since I am from europe and hitting my 20s it is now time to get my first car, which I think should just be a fun inexpensive drive and kinda compliment my past driving experiences.
Experiences:
-Pretty much every Mercedes W124 but the 500
-VW Polo 2003
-Current Mercedes CLA
-Current Mercedes B
The newer cars are kinda meh imo since you cannot really feel anything anymore compared to the older cars and I think the W124 is too heavy and big for me atm
twingo
Forgot to actually make a point, so what are your recommendations around here? I am pretty open to anything, from Miata to NSX to VW
>>16165685
I said it should compliment my past experiences, those experiences do not include being in a clown club

A guy I know (total weirdo) changed his Focus for one like this. Stopped driving it when he ran out of money for fuel.
I have to get rid of one of my shitboxes, which one /o?
The black bmw 3
Then get a Miata, fag
>>16165607
The shitbox worst-gen lincoln
>pick two
>i have to get rid of ONE of my shitboxes
??
get rid of both the shitty landyacht and e36.
landyacht needs no explaining, shitty gen and e36's have no real redeeming features.
sell both and get a saab wagon or something.
Should I buy this 5 speed '97 SC300?
It has 295k miles.
The car is completely stock except for the mufflers. Comes with sales documents and paperwork from the original owner. Everything on the car works but the AC.
Seller is asking $4400 or best offer but I think i could get it for under $3k.
How well made were these SC300's?
Interior looks decent and comfy i might add.
>>16165583
>TWO-HUNDRED-NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND MILES
A car like that has had at least 900,000 rompings. You really wanna buy a car that's been beat on for 295k miles?
>>16165588
if i could get it for less than $3k i dont mind.
its only going to be a winter car.
Ford's bringing it's EcoSport to the US.
For people who didn't know this existed, this SUV(well a lifted Fiesta I'd say) has been present in the Asian and some European markets for atleast 4 years.
Available with 2 engine options.
>1.0L EcoBoost 3-cyl
>2.0L 4cyl (it hasn't said anywhere that this is an EcoBoost)
Choose this engine and get the AWD option.
Both engines come mated with a 6 speed auto.
>That giant 8 inch screen has Android Auto and Apple Car play.
Get the Titanium trim and you'll get the 10 speaker Harman system.
Cool fact : It has 30 storage pockets inside.
Cool fact 2 : It's rear door only opens this way.
>deal with it
>tfw all you want is a corvette but it's impractical since you have two young children
>>16165489
Get a Chev SS and mod it
Bogans have been rodding 'family' commodores over here since the first falcon and commodore
GT-R has rear seats, brah
>tfw all you want is a mild bippu Lexus but it's #rare, expensive to insure and thirsty on the fuel
Tell me why I shouldn't get one
>>16165466
Aren't you concerned with appearance? Or are you one of those autists that doesn't realize image is the most important thing.
I don't know, they're the best vans.
Depends where you live and what you use it for. Id have one if most of my work wasnt downtown with underground parking lots. I had to buy a cheby sierra instead
