Is taking a normal car to the track a thing? I want to do one track day just for the fun of it without spending money modding my car or buying another car.
I do plan to buy a Miata as a second car if I like it.
Current car is similar to pic.
>track day
Since you know this little, you'll likely kill your brakes, but other than that it should be fine.
It just won't be much fun in a landbarge like that.
>>16175069
Yeah, taking a merc wagon to the track is probably not the smartest idea, lol
Sure thing. Lots of people do it ironically in older 90s camry's and tercels and the like.
Just don't expect to be setting any speed records, don't drive stupidly cuz TRACK DAY YO, and enjoy yourself.
how do you know if your turbos are dying/loosing boost without a boost dial?
i have a 1.8T engine and it feels like my car is very slow. Like even old minivans will outrun me unless i rev to like 5000rpm before shifting
I think i might have a vacuum leak or maybe my turbos are dying since my car does have 160k miles now
>>16174634
Take the intake piping off of your turbo and play with the turbine. If the blades move side to side when you press on them or look chipped it's time to get a new turbo.
>>16174648
shieet is that the only way? i think the turbo on my car is underneath the engine or someshit but its rather hard to get to
Also i suspect the problem might be a vacuum leak, since i had one before and my car was idling very roughly. I took it to the mechanic and he fixed it but warned me that all the turbo hoses were pretty dry
Now i dont have a rought idle but i feel like my car isnt getting boost
>>16174664
Boost leak.
Sell your vw before it blows up.
How many HP does a pod air filter add?
who cares about power when you get that sick induction sound uleh
>>16174554
anywhere between 6.9 to 42.0
>>16174560
42 horsepower? Was the intake clogged with leaves before the swap?
What are /o/'s thoughts on Lotus and its various cars over the years? They seem like affordable-ish supercars but I rarely ever see one or a review of them.
>>16174524
They're sellouts that took making it big over making good cars. Buy a Caterham or TVR or Noble or Morgan or Marcos or Ginetta or Ascari or literally anything else if you want an exotic British sports car.
Lotus is on the extreme end of impractical. Ridiculously small, very uncomfortable, little to no amenities. Also, you pay quite a bit for what essentially is a more powerful and much less reliable miata with an exotic bodykit. People who are in the position to own and maintain lotuses usually have many better options.
Personally, if the evora (murifag here) was about $30-40k cheaper id get one. But i cant afford dropping 90k (before dealer markups, after is probably closer to 105-110k) on a car that's biggest amenity is AC from a company that is known to have severe reliability issues in the past, no matter how good muh driving feels are
>>16174623
>little to no amenities
I thought their whole deal was about being light weight.
hey /o/ what are some car related youtube channels you enjoy and would recommend?
pic related's kinda shitty but I like le ebin meme face so whatever

Is Ford the best American car company?
yeah
even if its mostly due to their European divisions
>>16174085
>best of the worst
No. They're the best car company period.
>tfw somebody hits my car in the parking lot at walgreen's
>parked away from every other car like I always do
>come out to the rear fender dented in with paint smudges
>after 5-10 minutes of sweating and panicking, use some spit and fiber cloth to get rid of smudges
>just slightly dented in fender now
Thought about filing a claim for it but it isn't bad enough to have my first insurance claim. It just pisses me off that somebody would do some shit like this and I don't even know if there is any underlying damage. Fucking fuck
>>16174023
did you check with walgreens to see if they have parking lot cameras?
>>16174035
Parked in the back where I never expected another car to park. It looked like somebody pulled into the spot next to me and swiped me then just pulled out the parking lot at ~11am.
>>16174023
>rear fender
It's called a quarter panel dumbass
>underlying damage
Do you not know anything about cars?
All it is is plastic.
What does /o/ think of the 300D?
>>16173980
kek hipster car lol
It's a great car, but it makes you look poor.
slow
Help choose my next car!
Am a wagecuck with a 71' Bug I'm constantly working on so I need something I can drive when it's under the knife or parked for the winter.

Civic for 5k.
Legacy w/turbo seems to fit the bill, I've always had a soft spot for it
>>16173978
a bit mundane I guess. Plus I'm in the rust belt and I don't want to imagine the horrors most old stick civics have been through
Why did the 5 cylinder engine die?
>>16173879
Because 4 cylinders got really good.
5 cylinders were a compromise of space and power, and 4 cylinders now win one and are adequate in the other.
>>16173879
>power of a 4
>drinks like a 6
>sounds like an angry demon

send help
cant beat that awd system though
winters coming, wrx would be a pretty reliable car, plus they're good looking up until 2004
>>16173825
Been enjoying mine so far.
how aesthetic are those early WRX boot decals tho
I have a 2010 sentra and today when i wanted to start the engine it makes a very loud knocking / mechanical noise. Please help...
https://youtu.be/7FpDiYal1pQ
>>16173486
Sounds like rod knock, if so you're fucked.
Maybe an exhaust leak if you're lucky.
>knock knock
>who's there?
>your rods
>>16173491
>>16173496
Welp... guess i should swap for new engine do you guys know a good site i can buy from?
Why does AWD suck again? Every time I try to remember, I keep thinking about how objectively superior to inferior FWD and RWD it is.
So tell me /o/, why does AWD suck? Because I'm hard pressed to imagine why.

it plows in corners. there is a reason it was never kept in F1. as far as torque vectoring thats just cucking yourself.

howbout that my niggs
2400 euros for a metalic green twingo, only 130k kms
Small detail though its all the way down to argentina
Still a nice car tho
That's a lot for any Twingo.
Does it have a sunroof?
Does it have the 16V engine?
Is it manual?
Is it some rare pepe edition?
The whole appeal of them is that they're insanely cheap and you can't go wrong for under 1000 eurobucks, but for 2400 you can probably get something much nicer.
>>16173385
you best snatch it up before I do boy

hmm the add doesn't really give much info. But for the area, its dirt cheap, considering others with same kms and year climb uo to high 4k or even 5k euros.
Welcome to south america, where for the cost of one shitbox, you can get yourself several shittboxes of equal caliber
