Camaro 1LEs and Vette Grandsports already do... but GM has long offered uprated crate engines based on production engines that dont find their way into regular cars... usually for emissions and mpg target reasons

Whats up /o/ not native to this board just asking a simple question to what I presume are the most cynical asses in the car community. I live in a pretty harsh climate during the winter but beautiful during the spring and summer, I'm looking at getting a mitusbishi evo. What are the common issues? What year should I be looking for? And what are the better alternatives?
>>16325517
>What are the common issues
Rice taxed to hell and back, often poorly modded and/or beaten on to the point where it's about to break. You'll never find one stock, but if you can find one with consistent maintenance records that's about as good as it gets.
>And what are the better alternatives
The WRX STi was its direct competitor. Give those a look too, but bear in mind you'll be seeing the same issues of vape tax, eBay mods and cunts looking to unload busted models.
>>16325517
the newer one's are kind of big, but otherwise if you want the all wheel drive i'd be looking for an STI- they're not better than the evo's while on track but they're much much cheaper for nearly the same.
if you're not modding go for a subaru.
>>16325552
>>16325559
I figured the STI would be the most competitive, is there anything else that comes close to these? Or are these considering they are stock and not modded by shitters the best options without compromising the sports car feel?
What do you call these things? Should you remove them when they build up?
Slush, ice buildup
Yes

>Slush snow everywhere

Barnacles. mfw go to kick them off and they pull off a fresh chunk of rust. Fuck salt.
What causes your car's suspension to creak, like the sound of an old mattress?
Is it possible that hitting steel road plates (hueg bump) from construction at like 35-40 will cause the car to do it shortly after or right away?
A few days ago I hit these fucking steel plates, very rough. I don't think I've ever felt such a hard hit in my car, and it's really pissed me off because I always go slow over bumps to preserve the suspension. However this was at night in the city, with no warning signs whatsoever.
So now I'm tripping out, thinking this hard hit fucked up my suspension. What sucks is I can't really remember whether or not it used to creak (this is a car I rarely drive) but I do remember my shocks making that sort of air release sound whenever going over light bumps, and now I don't really hear it...
I hope you guys can understand what I'm trying to ask here, because I wasn't able to find anything on google about hitting bumps and how quick the damage is apparent.
Probably nothing permanent, check your bushings and ball joints
And what I mean by "I hope you can understand" is I'm not really sure if I'm being clear or what I'm asking makes sense
>>16325344
do you think those components would have gotten damaged enough from 1 hard hit to being making noises?
>GOOGLE HOW LONG AFTER HITTING A BUMP WILL I KNOW IF THERE HAS BEEN DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION PLEAZE GOOGLE HELP ME OH GOD

Jesus Christ I bought a truck once and the dude had about 9 on the mirror and I found another 5 under each seat. It still smelled like that shit for months and one day I replaced the stereo and found 10 behind each ac vent.
Is it worth it to finance a used recent (within 3 yrs) model?
>>16324956
No. Most cars made in the last 3 years are shit. Tiny windows, high beltline, shitty safety features, etc
>>16324997
Not everyone on /o/ wants to look poor, senpai.
>>16324956
Within 3 years, usually the car is still depreciating rapidly. The only time this is not true is if demand for the used car is still very high, which is usually only true for low production models. You can expect depreciation to level off about 7 years after it was sold, but again you'll have to look into your specific make and model to figure out the exact dynamics. New generations usually cause depreciation of the entire old generation, etc.
The problem is that it will be difficult to find someone who will finance a 7-year-old used car. Your bank probably won't do it.
My advice? If you think the car has depreciated enough, and for some reason have some need for a recent, within 3yrs car, then getting the loan could be worth it.
I personally wouldn't do it, as I pay cash for my cars.
>>16324956
No shit it's got a negative slope, because youths aren't going to be set in a career yet.. Pretty useless figure unless you compare both groups at the same age.
For Aux applications, is it worth it to get an AGM battery and keep it in the cab? Or should I just do something like jam a battery into my toolbox. All I'm really running would realistically be a CB and a few aux lights (light bar, etc etc)
>>16324237
Slow board, fuck off
Why do you think you need an additional battery to run those? Will there be enough draw so that your alternator wont cope? Will you be using them with the engine off?
mfw op wires it in series and fries every component in his car
you dont need an aux batt for lights and a cb. I have all of those.
also cbs are pretty shit if youre offroading with mates just get a 2 way.
>>16324264
Yes and no.
I still may also upgrade the alternator at some point, but the intent is have the option to run those with the engine off when I want to, yes. Additionally, given that it's not the optimal use, I would have the (LAST LAST) option of using it as a jump battery if my battery shits the bed and I have been stupid enough to not replace it by that point.
Post the car you'd drive for a date with your ideal woman.
