A door costs 20 shekels in a scrapyard, how can someone be this gypsy?
Hell/o/
I'm not much of a car guy and never posted here before. So I'll just get straight to the point.
For Christmas I wanted to get some dashcams for my family. There are lots of options out there, so I'm a bit lost. Mainly I'm looking for a camera with:
1. Decent quality recording.
2. Able to withstand cold and hot temperatures. (We live in PA)
3. Easy to use and get the files onto my PC.
4.Doesn't have a bunch of useless gimmicky features, like the lane monitoring and driver fatigue. That's just more crap that can break imo.
5. A system with a rear view cam is a huge bonus, but not a necessity.
6. Automatically deletes oldest footage for memory.
7. Must be in stores, or the shipping must arrive before xmas.
We have four cars in the family so this will be a big purchase for me. Lower price is nice, but I'm willing to pay for good quality.
Any reccomedations are highly appreciated, thank you guys.

find a flaw in my new (used) car i just bought, without mentioning vw reliability.

>find a flaw without mentioning the biggest flaw
It's a Volkswagen, so service will be more expensive than on a non-German car of a similar price range.
What are stereotypes of drivers of various car brands?
old bimmers are driven by poorfag teenagers, finding an unmolested e30 or any old bmw is damn near impossible
never seen a jaguar driven by someone younger than 30
old hyundais and kias are driven by even poorerfags, they never seem to have any badges so i always assume it has been in an accident
literally never seen a subaru owner that isn't actively trying to impose the 'dude stance fartcans vape trashy burnouts obnoxious wheels donuts at 4 am on a weekday lmao' sterotype
>BMW. Either dark-skinned drug dealer, or sales rep who drives like a total cunt. Indicators permanently broken.
>Mazda. There are two kinds: Miata fags who talk about nothing BUT Miatas, along with the horrible modding choices they make AND the rotary fanatics.
>Land Rover: I'm rich without taste, therefore I must buy either a black or white Range Rover Sport.
>Subaru: I'm gay and also a woman.
>Audi: I want a nice looking car but I don't know shit about engines. I think I'll just pick a diesel.
>Ford: I own a carpet business and I take my swatches home in my Mondeo estate.
BMW car: pretentious faggot, shit driver
BMW motorcycle: pretentious faggot, good driver
Honda car: too stupid to buy a mazda
Honda motorcycle: too stupid to buy a suzuki
Toyota: too stupid, period
Subaru: slight ugprade from toyotafags
Mazda: Handsome, mature people who make good life choices
VW: Can't afford a BMW
Audi: Still can't afford a BMW
Ford: basically toyota drivers
GM: Body of adonis, 200+ IQ, gets all the bitches
>IS THIS ANY GOOD?
Celica 1.8 vvti
It's cheaper than 3 series e46 in my country.
Probably faster?
>>16333366
I hated on that Celica for so long, and only in the past month realized I was wrong.
It is the first FWD Celica not to have an AWD/Alltrac/GT4 option somewhere in the world. Recently I met someone who owns one and it changed my opinion.
If considering one, buy a GT-S. It has a lot of room in the back for such a small car. Seats are comfy, manual transmission shifts nice and shifter isn't in a stupid place like the Matrix, typically cheaper than most cars of similar performance because the previous owner was probably a hispanic that beat the shit out of it.
The 2ZZ engine having a Yamaha designed head is more or less the successor to the 4A-GE and 3S-GE which is why I am waiting for a GT-S to pop up. The same engine was used in the third gen MR2 and the second series Lotus Elise/Exige (albeit the Lotus has a special tune)
>>16333366
They're ok, it depends what you want. Almost certainly going to be faster or in better condition than a similarly priced E46

thanks, I like to hear that.
Alright y'all mechanic told me it'd be $403 to replace 2 ignition coils on my 2001 Celica GT and I don't know shit about cars but I know that's a fuckover if there ever was one. Where's the best place to buy the coils online and not get bum ass parts?

>Whats a good car to learn how to drift?
Seeing as you're learning, pretty much anything that's RWD and manual. Bonus points for a welded diff, it'd make life easier.
>I want to buy an mx5 but I want to keep it nice so I dont want to ruin it trying to drift it
Don't buy it then, genius
I am a newer driver. 25 and recently got a car. I live in New England. What are some tips for driving in the snow? I have a 2008 Toyota Camry.
I drove in it a bit but weird stuff was happening. Like ice forming on the wind shield wipers and ice forming on the back window. I had the defroster on too.
Also, what to do if you get stuck or start sliding? Is a V4 engine too little to be driving in snow like this?
I feel super plebby.
Power is not your friend in snow and ice use as little thottle as possible, dont spin tires, start from 2nd or third gear from a stop
Coat your wipers very liberally with vaseline
This will prevent ice from forming and when you use them they'll spread the vaseline onto the windshield in a uniform coat as well.
Every time you make a turn give it gas for hectic skids

Hey /o/, let me pick your mind for a sec.
I've got a shitbox Civic - it's my first car, and I'm learning as things break. Been doing fine for over a year but this time I need some help.
A few days ago, it was 10 degrees Fahrenheit and my car refused to start. It would crank, and try to fire, but never actually start. I did some troubleshooting and I was getting spark, but it was orange. I assumed the ignition coil and bought one, but when I got home tonight to put it in the car started right back up. The only difference is that it's 10 degrees warmer right now. My only assumption now is that my battery wasn't performing well enough because of the cold, but at the same time it cranked just fine (wasn't slow or anything like it would be with a dying battery). I'm baffled, and Google ain't helping. You guys have any insight?
>>16331638
get a new battery
its cold, the cold sort of brings out any bad batteries
Put a volt meter on your car after you jump it.
SET IT TO 20v!
SET IT TO 20V!
Put the positive lead on the positive lead off the alternator. Place the negative lead on the negative battery terminal. DO NOT PLACE IT ON ALTERNATOR GROUND.
Check and see if you're making about 13-14v
If yes: Check and see if battery will accept charge over time. Should be able to maintain AT LEAST 12.6v when the car is off.
If not: replace alternator and check battery.
CHECK YOUR BATTERY TERMINALS. Make sure that they are secure and not corroded. Remove the negative terminal first and check it, then remove the positive terminal.
Replace in opposite order (positive connected first, then negative)
You'll find that you're welding on your car a lot less if you do that.
Report back.

Forgive me, just trying to figure this one out - if the battery was going out, why would it crank just fine? Is that not a valid indicator?
M'/o/tists, I am looking to purchase an early-to-mid 2000's vehicle as my daily driver that makes a lot of revs and a pleasing sound. I've just about settled on the Celica GT-S or the RSX Type-s.
I'm looking for opinions on handling, reliability, and just general superiority between the two.

I live in Canada and I will get a summer driver at some point, but not now.
If you have any other suggestions that can be found in Ontario, I'm all ears. Don't recommend some 80s shit to me, I've been to Vancouver and still don't have the taste of salt out of my mouth from how many mint condition JDM and USDM 80s/90s cars they had. Rust kills everything here. Fuck Ontario.
I guarantee you every ''high revving'' Honda or Toyota in Ontario burns more oil than gas. People of brown complexion tend to not take very good care of their cars.
>>16331033
2ZZGE wont die if you do oil a bit more frequently than most normal cars.
>>16331056
this too.

I lost all interest the second I saw that stupid fucking sticker on the rear window. Do dealers honestly not even try to pretend their cars are good? If I were trying to sell this car, I would try to make it look as stock/clean as possible.
It's listed at $4900, and I was going to talk them down to $4k, but I'm sure it's a piece of trash now because of
>stickers
its ironic you are acting more autistic then the faggot who put a transformer sticker on his car
>>16328388
its not trash because of stickers, its trash because of the shitty boxer engine
>>16328485
The 2017 WRX STi model uses the same engine. It's perfect.
So some cunt Mexican woman just t-boned and totaled my grandfather's inheritance to me, and now I need a new daily driver. Does anyeone have any recommendations on a good, reliable, Japanese coupe for less than $10,000 USD?
I would prefer compact. I know many people will probably say "Buy a Miata", and I honestly just might, I've had an NB before and I loved it, but I just want to know if there's anything else that's a better option.
The cheaper the better, ideally if I could get away with spending 7-8,000 that'd be better. Thanks, /o/.
Preferably:
Mazda
Nissan
Toyota
Subaru
3 3 grand civics and 1k for sick mawds

I would really rather not.
this happened because you are racist
also i bet if your grandma heard you talking like this she would smack the shit out of you
wtf happened to mitsubishi? how did they end up becoming a boring commuter brand? They used to have a bunch of sporty shit in their lineup.

Think Russia vs the US in the cold war. Russia folded because they couldn't keep up in the arms race. Mitsu folded because they couldn't keep up with Subaru in the Evo/STi wars.
