How does one go about overhauling their suspension?

I have an older truck, and I can tell that the front independent suspension is trashed. It bounces, squeaks, groans and rides poorly.
I'd like to overhaul it, but I really don't know where to begin. What usually needs replaced on old suspensions?

so my 2002 audi TT quattro with the 1.8T engine started leaking oil from around where the oil filter is

I took it to my mechanic and he said the oil cooler was leaking oil and that it probably needs a new gasket but those cooler are a bitch to remove so it will be a tad expensive to do the job.

Anyway, do these cars even have oil coolers or is this faggot bullshitting me?
