Where should I look for the best mechanic training in NJ?
I've done 3 years in biomedical engineering and have an associate's in computer science but I can't afford university anymore. Have taken to working on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and saved $5000 so far. I've also been hacking the car using a $15 OBD2 interface to get that gas guzzling bitch up to 30 MPG. She's a problem child and mechanic training will at the very least save me thousands even if I don't become a mechanic.
Anyway, fuck curing cancer. How does one get into this Mechanic shit?

situation: mr2 5sfe engine slows and accelerates rough in 2nd and 3rd gear.
the car idles and revs fine, the temperature reads fine, and first gear runs good as far as I know. I think 4th and 5th do the same but not as badly, dad said it's only 2nd and 3rd. I tried Google and my situation wouldn't exactly match up, what do /o/? what should I check for? tune up?

I was talking to a dude who complimented my MS3 today, and he said he had one before. Knew the engine and little bits of speed3's so he knew what he was talking about. He said he had to give up it because he had a kid.
Why do people do this? They sell their sporty car for a boring econobox. The MS3 has 4 seats, a hatch, and get's good empeegees for a quick car. There's literally no reason why you can't use it as a family car, its safe too.
Or people selling their WRX's for crossovers because "they had kids". A newer WRX is safe with 4 doors and seats. Why sell it?
