>Coming from Florida
>Drive Miata up here
>It gets damn cold (-35) one night
>Go to start Miata next morning
>-7ish
>Starts up but idles at 2500RPM for a moment
>Go inside and drink coffee and shoot the shit with my friends while the car warms up
>Check on it in 10 mins
>Heater blowing cold air
>Still idling 2000+
>Decide to drive it anyway and see if that helps at all
>Car suddenly stops idling high about 500 feet later
>Temperature gauge climbs up to normal
>Still blowing cold air
>Drive it a bit more
>Temperature gauge is now pegged at H
>Drive back to friend's house
>Coolant all over engine
>Reservoir has ice in it, no coolant
:( I'm gonna be stuck in Michigan a while.
>>16357028
Bullshit
>>16357028
I forgot people put literal water in their coolant system
Wow ouch
I've heard of guys down south running 1/3rd coolant and 2/3rds distilled water. I mean, who would run 50/50 if you NEVER see anything below 10 degrees Celsius /50 degreesFahrenheit
straight water is better for heat dissipation but has no anti-corrosion properties. Did you pop a freeze plug or you're a lucky sonofabitch?
How do I know if my car needs synthetic oil or not? All I know is that 5w-30 and m1-102 is recommended
If you have a good car, it needs synthetic. If you have a piece of garbage, regular.
>>16356114
Don't certain cars require synthetic? My last car did, since it had oil change every 5k. Is there anyway to know for sure assuming the manual doesn't tell you?
Jesus fucking Christ, does no one know the answer to this fucking question? I don't understand how you people can know all this other shit about cars yet you can't know for sure whether or not the shit you're driving requires synthetic or not. Fuck
s m h
Question.
How are these parking spots any different from the other ones, to be suited for expectant mothers and families with small children?
>>16356118
I only know one place that had these signs and it was a certain hospital wing.
Is the S8 plus the best car ever made?
>tons of room
>605hp
>0-60 in under 4 seconds
>quattro awd
>head-up, sunroof, nightvision, able to switch navigation in between the rpm and speed indicator
>topspeed 305km/h
>LED lights
>excellent exhaust noise
literally the best car ever created
>VW parts bin special
Into the trash
Dad has a 15' A8 4.0T sport and when I took it to get serviced at the dealer, the salesman he bought it from offered me to take an S8 plus out for a spin
Was definitely fast as fuck (can hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds from what I've read) and handles pretty well. Would totally buy one over an S63 AMG just because you can get an S8 for $140k vs. $170k for the S63 which handles worse and is slower.
Only issues is that it's heavy as fuck and could definitely feel it in the corners, there is just no hiding the fact it weighs nearly 5000 lbs. Also, it didn't feel that much faster than a normal A8 with the 4.0t V8.

>head-up, sunroof, nightvision, able to switch navigation in between the rpm and speed indicator
>LED lights
>excellent exhaust noise
It might be only because of these features but no, cause I'm not a fan of Audi's.
why do people think working on cars is hard? its literally legos
People are insanely lazy, especially if they got money and can just throw it at someone else to do the work
I don't have a garage or a house or any room to put tools. I can afford it so I'd rather just let people do the work for me, unless it's something that takes under an hour, like changing tires.
nah
PCs are literally legos
cars are legos that your sibling glued together and left outside for 20 years and requires expensive tools to get apart
This guy said he'd come from $4000 to $3500 for me. It's a 2010 Kia optima with 115k miles. $3500 is all I have for a car. I want something that'll last, but I'm oblivious when it comes to cars. Would this be a good deal? Could use all the help I can get.

There's also this one I was interested in. 04 civic coupe with 99k miles. I wanted a newer year but I've read that Hondas are really dependable and last really long.

Go for the civic?
Sorry, I really have no one I can ask for advice on cars. I usually get my dad to help but he passed earlier this year. Just trying to get a reliable car that'll last me some years.
Can i get a vin check on

Theres no such thing as sport cruiser
Why do new Infiniti sedans come with shitty german turbo I4? It used to come base with beefy 3.7 L Japanese VQ V6
Hell, my 2009 V36 with the 3.7 na puts out more horses than the 3.0t engine in the premium Infiniti sedan offerings.
My guess is this is to match the Audi and BMW markets, but it really is disappointing that Nissan is really gutting the "performance over practicality" approach that Infiniti always had
What does /o/ think about all this nonsense? Is this because Renault?
>>16354957
how does the torque compare? At low revs especially?
>>16354965
The rule of thumb is the 3.0t makes about 30ish more torque, and has 30ish less horses than the 3.7 VQ in the earlier sedans.
To be fair, the 3.0t is a more modern engine design and probably more efficient, but I am a stickler for NA setups just because of personal preference.
Also the 3.0t is the upgraded engine, and base is still the german I4 turbo 2.0.... 3.7 NA used to be standard
There's a 400 hp 3.0 twin turbo Q50 option. Might not be out yet.

Hey /o/ I'm considering buying a Lancer.
I'm fairly new to the car scene so I'm looking for opinions. How "easily" would I be able to put more power in? Should I buy the 2.0 with a manual or is the 2.4 with cvt and awc worth the extra $$$?
Just don't buy a shitty Lancer. Get a used Civic SI/Ford Focus ST/Mazdaspeed3 if you want a fun shitbox.
>>16354239
Get a civic for 3k. Why would you pay 16k or more for a shitty lancer that hasn't been changed in 10 years?
>>16354305
seriously, this.
mitsubishi doesn't make anything new that is worth a damn currently.
What dont you do on your own car?
>>16353210
Your mom, but only because I don't want to break the suspension.
I'm afraid of working with spring compressors, and vital engine components.
i dont do anything to my car, just pay the dealer for peace of mind

What's on /o/'s Christmas list?
this.
and maybe a jack and some jack stands (not sure which ones I want yet).
I would like a GT-R
A 2.0 MX-5 or a new GT-86, both red.
The problem is that I don't have any rich friend who can buy me one of them, actually I don't have friends at all.
If money was no object, what 1960's car would you restore and swap a new engine into?
A Triumph TR5.
>Gt40
>ECOBOOST-six
>>16350743
good choice. I have a tr6 that I often wonder if a bmw m30 would fit.
