Why are superchargers and turbochargers all centrifugal-flow instead of axial-flow?
Axial-flow is superior for jet engines, pic related being an example. But why isn't it used in automotive technology? Surely it's more efficient in terms of energy consumed for mass flow, or just permits higher mass flow?
It's been bugging me for a while, and wikipedia isn't forthcoming with answers.

It's literally the same thing you idiot.

Also how are you going to connect the turbine to the compressor? a chain, or a belt? why. that's like 2 times as much space required.
>Surely it's more efficient in terms of energy consumed for mass flow
Why? Nothing is happening. It's accelerating and then expanding. It doesn't matter what direction it goes in. All compressors are 100% efficient at a certain pressure differential and flow rate (if heat and friction didn't exist).
Energy is converted 100% unless lost through heat and friction. No matter how you're converting it.
Are hondas being slow just a meme?
I always thought hondas were really slow because of all the facebook memes and because of /o/ but..
Today I was at a car meet, there were a bunch of honda guys standing around a non turbo hondas engines bay.
He was saying that it's failry quick.. I said to him "can't be too quick it's just a honda.
He was like "I will take you for a ride and you can see for yourself"
I said "I drive a v8 mustang I doubt I will be impressed by a non turbo honda"
Anyway he took me around the block and it pinned me super hard in to the seat.. It actually fwlt faster than my v8.
I got out and he told me it's just a basic k swap with some mild mods.
This has got me wondering, is the slow honda thung just an internet meme or are hondas like this rare?
If it felt quicker it's due to power to weight. your fat Mustang will feel and probably be slower than a built up K series (even N/A) because the car it's in is half the weight of your Mustang
>>16383293
Giving the benefit of the doubt that this isn't bait, the meme for why their slow originated from the fact that most Hondas are slow from the factory and a culture of fuccbois gravitated towards them because of how cheap and plentiful they are, mainly performed minimal performance mods that didn't gain much power but would stick a shitty bodykit on then and act like they're as fast as a Porsche is
The one you rode in is rare in the fact that someone planned out a build and completed it properly
>>16383313
this
your mustang meight have a v8 but it also weighs almost 2 tons
power to weight is the only metric that truly determines a cars speed. turbo hondas are very quick and a lot of fun, and all motors high-compression builds can have well over 250hp
Keep walking this is none of your business, faggot!

What does /o/ think of the Nissan Stagea? I'm thinking of selling my NA Miata and buying one of these bad boys.
What is maintenance and parts availability like compared to a Miata?

Give me one reason not to get a bare 350 SBC block, built it part by part as i get the opportunity, and drop it in some random chassis when it's done.
It'll never get done.
Because talk is cheap
Because you could have a bbc :3
Are there any other decent /o/ animes?

Maybe i'm confusing it with "anti-lag" systems but doesn't that give your car explosive farts and create excessive wear on the turbos or other parts of the car?

hard to pit maneuver a FWD. just sayin

nice memecar friend. going to be a slow but fun shitbox unless you boost or swap it. You could always turn into one of those stancefags and camber it out or somthing. also rwd is a plus. I lived in LA for 11 years, no real places for good touge unless you drive up north.
>>16382456
Hmm let me think, gonna have to say no on that Alex, looks like a piece of shit, most likely mexicola owned.
V10 is the patrician engine configuration
>not V12
>>16382299
V8's and V12's do it's job better. Stick with the V8 or go all the way to V12.
>not V14
I always thought these were cool, and I'm looking to a reliable shitbox. This popped up on Craigslist. Seems pretty mint. Clutch, tires, etc have all been fixed. What should I be aware of while taking a look at it? I'd rather not pay a mechanic to come out. I know jack shit about fixing cars. Been googling but I wanna know what you guys think.

this is the car
Should i get a miata with 800,000 miles
>>16381691
Pros - Handling that'll make integra owners jealous
More power/better gearing than most hondas stock for stock
Decent amount of space
Decent MPG
Cons -
Parts are RARE
Parts get EXPENSIVE (not german luxury expensive, but some SVT-specific bits will have you wondering if you bought a shitbox or an entry level sports car)
If you fuck your wheels you will probably never find replacements.
So not too bad, pros are really good.
Tl;Dr
Get it if you want a Honda experience without a Honda badge and Honda parts
>>16381717
Interesting
What should I look for maintenance wise? I love these things
Are saab 9-3's good cars? There's a 66k mile example being sold close to me
>>16381680
do it faggot
>best car for money imo
Great car IMO. It was a little GMish in the maintenance costs, the ergonomic design is actually good. I found the badge and interior buttons would wear off after use.
Fun to drive.
