Does anyone have any experience with this oil? Im thinking of switching to it since ive heard so much hype about it. Im not doing anything extreme, i just want to take care of my 02 ranger. Or should i just get regular synthetic?
>>16378840
it's meme oil. just use mobil 1 or castrol synthetic.
unless you have an aftermarket turbo and know exactly the conditions your car will be enduring its just snake oil
its helpful when you need lighter weight oil but want it to be resistent to higher temps
>>16378938
so do you recommend this oil for my 335i? the oil temps go pretty high when i flog it. sometimes it hits 280 and i just back off at that point
>drive 14 yr old shitbox
>replace halogen head lights and high beam bulbs for the brightest LED lights i can find on ebay

Barf. Running anything other than stock headlights is corny.

Should I? Since I'm in a banana republic shithole, this is literally the closest thing to a Miata listed for sale. Sad!
OP here, would it be cheaper to just import a NA Miata from burgerland?
import a miata or get a newer TT
>>16374758
Any crippling issues with the '05 TT?
What defines a GT car? A friend of mine says that the Citroen SM isn't a GT car because it's front wheel drive.
He says, and I quote, "Grand Tourers are not touring cars or luxury cars. The FIA defined grand tourers as production models that were suitable for long distance driving but also capable race cars.
So they got powerful engines and rear wheel drive (because front wheel drive sucks in every single motor sport category other than rally) like a normal sports car would but the engine is in the front, so the car could have a large boot and rear seats, making it practical for everyday use or road trips. That's what's been racing on the first GT classes in sports car races and that's what all the ultimate GTs, from the Ferrari 250 to the Lamborghini 350GT, were modeled like. Long story short, everything that is not an FR 2+2 is not a GT."
On the other hand, I think the SM is a fine GT car. It is fast, handles adequately for its time, looks good, was expensive and capable of travelling at high speeds over long distances in comfort. I believe that if a FWD car is able to fulfil these requirements, it is a GT car. It doesn't need to handle the best, it just has to handle well. I will agree that there are not many FWD GT cars, though.
When I think of a grand tourer usually I think of a car that can handle and perform well and is designed for comfort on long distance drives
>>16373978
The SM handled and performed pretty well for its time, and it's super comfy because hydropneumatic suspension. I'd say it fits the bill.

I know it gets talked about to death, but what would be the American equivalent of the AE86?
>RWD
>light weight
>small displacement
>old shitbox from 70s or 80s
>good balance and suspension
>cheap and common
>unimpressive and scoffed at
>great grocery getter regular car
>capable of being fast with right hands and tuning
Every time we have this discussion it's foxbody mustang.
>>16373622
Vega/Pinto
>>16373635
Foxbody handling is pretty shitty without upgrades, it seems more like the American equivalent of the Nissan S-chassis in that you can make it what you want.
>>16373637
I was thinking along those lines, yeah. Later model Vegas were actually nice cars, especially the Cosworth which also happened to have an i4 engine just like the AE86 that still had higher horsepower than V8s at the time.

Newfag here. Is a 2012 Chevy Malibu /o/ approved? I have the opportunity to get one with ~65,000 miles for $5,000, which is a pretty good deal as far as I know.

>Is a 2012 Chevy Malibu /o/ approved?
>fwd american shitbox
no.
/o/ has a hateboner for GM so ignore them, that said I wouldn't. If you could get an equivalent year Impala those are good, though.
Ignore anyone in this thread who's just going "LOL GM XDDD" and only listen to those who mention problems and so on specific with the Malibu
>>16386305
my mom has one of those.
she bought it with 5,000 miles on the odometer
reliability is bretty gud
i would buy it
Is this/will this be the next Geo Metro? With it's gutless 3 cylinder, cvt or 5 speed, 80s tier features and handling, and finally the 100k mi/10 year warranty, it could be the successor to the king of econoboxes.
Why would you buy this over a Fiesta, which is only a tiny bit more and is much less miserable to be in.
>>16386260
You wouldn't want to buy one new, buy one after depreciation hits them hard, likely much harder than a fiesta. I think that plenty of people will buy these thinking they'll handle and drive like a fiesta, but tire of them quickly and just buy something else.
>>16386244
They seem like they'd be kinda fun to toss around and the 3 cylinder looks really simple to work on.
But sadly I've heard they are garbage, though a 5 speed one might be ok.
Backseat is laughable though.
What's the most durable engine type?
Is it the inline six diesel?
probably the inline 6 petrol if you're going to pretend basic layout matters much
slant-4
specifically, volvo redblock
>>16386193
Single cylinder
fuck, meant to say poo in loos
Good one, m8
>>16386166
Looks good even in the econobox shitbox trim.
Can't say the same about the Fiesta, the ST is barely nice looking.
Hello /o/
There was a hole in my car's exhaust pipe, so I had a muffler guy to cut, bend and replace that section of the pipe.
But now it's missing the heat shield.
Is this a big problem?
Will my underside catch a fire?
>>16385896
Aw sweet dude is that a Ford?
O2 sensor wire is very close to the heat source with out the shield.
>>16385900
maybe
maybe not
Is anyone daily driving with Extreme Performance tires? RE71R, ZII Star Specs, BFG Rivals, Ventus RS3, shit like that.
How bad is the treadwear, road noise, etc. Could I run them as 3 season tires?
>>16385664
about 10-15k miles. Less if you start driving your car more aggressive.
3 season as in hot and wet? sure. I dont know what the 3rd season is.
they dont perform well below 40F
good for rain, but not standing water
noise? sorry, I cant hear my tires over my open headers
hope everything else in your car is good, cause very sticky tires will make other issues stand out. like shitty brakes, bad suspension, or bad bushing somewhere.
what are you driving and where?
but most of those tires are load and only last 10-20k miles. so if your commuting alot it may become expensive year after year.
Also if your planning on tracking or auto-x just get a dedacated set you can use for years instead of one year, and ride on all seasons
>>16385664
I upgraded to some potenzas and noticed literally zero difference in regards to tread wear, wet performance, and other factors. The biggest thing I really noticed was the impact it had on highway noise and suspension. Hitting bumps fucking SUCKS
oh man, oh crap i need to know what car this is thank
some kind of weird dodge stratus
>>16385534
Fiero with a body kit
Is that a Roush?
