What is the dumbest common logic you see on /o/?
>weight matters in luxury cars and trucks, and everything should weigh as much as my Miata

literally every other post is something retarded

Weight matters in everything, not always in the same way or for the same reasons.
You want a truck to be as light as posible as the GVW is fixed in most places by legislation so a 100kg delta in mass directly relates to the payload capacity of the vehicle.
For a luxury car a high sprung mass can be benificial for ride comfort if you have the suspension setup to control it.
What car would you buy at the first chance of being able to afford it?
911 Turbo desu
plz no bully
Can someone explain to me why the fuck this car is recommended by the sticky? 90% of these things under 5k are either beat to shit, have serious transmission issues, get horrible gas mileage, and are just literally breaking apart. Is there serious no better SUV to get for that price range? I seriously doubt it. Am I missing something here
Longpostguy is slightly a Mopar fan

>90% of these things under 5k are either beat to shit
So buy one of the other 10%
>have serious transmission issues
So buy one without tranny issues
>get horrible gas mileage
No shit. Its a fucking 4000 lb, 18 year old SUV with either a 4.7l V8 or a 4l I6 from the 60s. What do you expect?
>and are just literally breaking apart
Exaggerate some more. Cars need maintenance and repairs sometimes.
>Is there serious no better SUV to get for that price range?
I count 11 other SUVs recommended in the chart. Maybe you should look at some of those if you dont like the WJ.
>Am I missing something here
I'm guessing some chromosomes and quite a few brain cells.

kek.
What are some car tools and brands that /o/ recommends?
craftman

Gear wrench sells quality tools for a decent price. Haven't been impressed with newer Mac tools, old school Mac tools kick ass. Snap on is good but I don't see the need for them because they're so expensive. I actually really like Pittsburg ratchets, I've used a 5 foot pipe on a 3/8 ratchet and never broken a gear in two years. Matco is decent, more expensive and slightly better quality than gearwrench. Personally I use the 3/8 and 1/4 inch socket sets from gearwrench daily, has 1/4 inch to 1inch deep and shallow and 6mm to 19mm deep and shallow in 3/8 so unless I'm doing a job on a bigger motor or a big truck it has pretty much everything.
>>16411137
>>16411016
They don't. It's just poor people financing expensive cars and then being butthurt when they can't afford maintenance.
And yes a high tuned car will break more than your 91 crx.
German cars don't really ever" break down", the maintenance is just expensive on them.
>>16411016
They don't, they are constantly at the top of reliability studies.

Gyppo repair thread, post if you are a gypsy and do shoddy repair work
My latest one
>heater blower quits working
>test fuse, it works
>test fuse with heater set to on
>no power
>plug wire into battery
>other end into fuse
>it works
>grab some electrical bits
>make red cable in pic related
>plug into cigar lighter fuse
>plug into blower fuse
>repair complete
A closer look
The joys of french wiring, I was thinking it looked like peugeot wiring until I saw the shunt fuses, so renault?
>>16410848
Citroën(which is owned by Peugeot anyway)
Citroën and Peugeot share most parts, engines and electronics, french wirings are all shit tho, Renault being the worst of all
>literally all PSA cars lack relays to protect the wiring
Why the fuck were these used for so long? even if it made the car more expensive to get a timing chain, I'd pay it to not have to replace it every 100,000 miles.
>>16404858
Timing gears best. Never need to touch them and they have a very nice cam wirr.
>>16404858
chains were noisier and sound deadening technology hadn't improved to the point where you were unable to hear it.
GM used chains forever and it was one of the reasons reviewers said their engines felt less refined than the competition.
Belts were much quieter.
That's really the difference excluding the chain's obviously superior durability.
>>16404896
Yup this is exactly it.

Can someone find me a six-speed manual car for cheap sale at 5k or fewer, with 30k miles on it or fewer?
Car attached is something I'm currently considering, though it's only a six-speed manual.
>>16415776
Of course, I understand his search is tedious and difficult, as I have not come across one yet. This is if you have the time or interest.
>>16415776
Those cars are 5 speeds. Unless someone swapped the tranny.
You can't find anything in your price range with a 6 speed. Maybe an older wrecked sti or finance something with a 6 speed
Not OP, but I've got around $4k to spend on a Civic or similar car. Should I go for a early 2000s with 50-70k miles or something mid 2000s with 100+
Ok lads. What is the most indestructible and reliable 4x4 for offroading and if shit hits the fan and you need to get out?
Post your best choice and tell us more about why it's the 1# pick.
Bonus points for cheap and easy to wrench on 2nd hand.
