Would a 1991 Mercedes-Benz E300 I6 make a good first daily? I assume $1850 is not a reasonable price for a car without a working radiator. What would be a good price?

Don't buy this car.

Go ahead and put the idea of a "badge" out of your mind. You need something Japanese, unless you have a hidden bank account somewhere ready to spend on repairs. Consider yourself warned.

I think sources have verified it's a wide body hellcat. A reddit user caught what might be it in the Fast 8 trailer, different hood and flares, but not Liberty Walk flares.

So I'm paying around $420 for my car, with an additional $100 in insurance on top of it. It's really just too much for me to manage. As is, I think the car is sitting around breakeven in value after dumping $11000 into it (bought it new at $32000 in 2015). What would /o/ do to get into a cheaper car? Should I make a deal at a dealership?

Also I know I'm an idiot.

I recently got a driving license, I have driven six different cars, and the one that was the most fun was a shitty old VW Polo, I think 1997 or 1998 model. What makes it so much better than the other newer cars? What makes my ride in the polo a lot more fun than I ever had in the other relevively new cars? Could it be the turbo?

hi guise,
need your expertise, I'm getting a ' 05 model Forester for my next car, need the space for bike projects and dat delicious awd here in winter.

I'm going to see one with 250K in the odo (SI system). 2l gasoline engine manual.
In good shape, no rust despite being Nordic.

So Tl:Dr: an old-ish and high-mileage Sub Forester - what problems should I look for and what questions besides the basics, do I need to ask the owner to avoid problems? Also, what to specifically look for during a testdrive?

I bought a scrap truck and building as I want it.

Suck it, bitch!

Thinking about buying a Trailblazer, but not sure which is the best version.

Also, it's better the L6 or the V8? (taking in consideration the power and MPG)

Definite no
>>
>>16481593
It's a great truck. But which engine you want depends on what you do or not do with it.
Do you want to modify it to go fast?
If Yes, get the V8.

Otherwise, the L6 is perfectly fine. I's the Vortec 4200 which was on Ward's 10 Best Engines light multiple times.
>>
>>16481751
Why not?

>>16481789
the L6 it's from the Atlas family if I'm not wrong.

Hey guys! I'm in northern Kentucky and hate this road salt siting on the road making my car rust, I drive a German car (vw GTI) so they don't have much rust problems but it's getting old. Anyone have suggestions to not getting rust? I know American cars have issues too and everyone in the north

>>
just take it through a high pressure car wash every few weeks and you'll be fine. make sure it includes undercarriage too
>>
Here's a REALLY old trick that works everytime, but can be labor-intensive: Take used oil and with a brush, paint the entire underside of your car. This creates a barrier between the metal and the salt, but if you have any pre-existing rust, you gotta get rid of it first. Apply before the winter season, power wash it off after the last frost.
>>
>>16481438
THe idea that only german cars don't rust is an old one and an outdated one. That idea started in the 1980s when the Germans were the first to start using galvanized steel to protect against rust. Everyone uses galvanised steel now.
Only 2 car companies have had problems with premature rust in recent years. Toyota and Mazda. Toyota had the problem particularly with their trucks which rusted so bad, the frame would split in 2 when going in for a normal oil change.
That said
>>16481439
this works. A good solution is to get the car undercoated in an anti-rust oil based solution. The problem with this is it needs to be redone every year and it's fucking disgusting, but it works.

Another solution is these things
http://ruststop.net/2016/01/15/hello-world/
It uses a small electrical current to prevent the chemical reaction that creates rust from occurring. That device was tested at one point on the GM W-body forums. One guy (now banned on the forums) completely disassembled an Oldsmobile Intrigue to the bare shell, left it outside for 2 years with that on it, then put it back together. Not a spot of rust.

So I was a retard today /o/, I have a question: can you drive a car without the sway bars?

>fuck yes, my sway bars
>been waiting for them for two weeks
>fuckin australia post
>anxious to get home and install them
>I don't even give a fuck that it's 30 plus degrees today (in the 90-100 range for you imperialfags)
>drive home
>immediately get to work on my car
>take sway bars off
>and this is where I fucked up
>I thought it would be funny to bend and smash them up, since they're the shitty stock ones anyway
>do it
>kek briefly
>fuck yes, time to install my new sway bars
>get to the package
>rip it open
>THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL SAYS THAT THEY'RE FUCKING FOR A BMW E46 (my brother's car)

Yeah dont speed or try to do high speed maneuvers. Your car will wallow about a bit more but you should be fine. Be careful on bumps too
