Why do many EVs have such low top speeds for their horsepower? Is there any way to improve it for the sake of future sports cars and race cars? Currently, the fastest EV production car is around 200 mph, and that's considered a "hypercar" (when other gas-powered hypercars get well over 200). If EVs are going to surpass ICEs, they have to at least beat them first. They have acceleration, but not top speed as of now.
>Why do many EVs have such low top speeds for their horsepower?
Because they only have one gear
>why do they only have one gear
They only need one gear
>why don't they make one so they can go 230mph
Because nobody wants to go that fast in a production car and that era is over, super/hypercars don't even have as high of a top speed as they once did because of aero limitations.
They can have both if you use multi speed transmissions or overdrives. Tesla motors aren't the torque monsters you think they are by themselves, they use a low ass gear ratio to get that torque.

>Because nobody wants to go that fast in a production car and that era is over
I highly doubt that. People are going to keep expecting more. Cars are faster than ever now, and that's not going to stop.
When I drive my Chevy 3500 it sounds like there's a fucking harmonica in the engine, guys please help me. I know one of my belts is kind of shit, but can that even be caused by a belt?

Can anyone think of a car that gets 30+mpg, 1500lb tow rating, and costs under 2k besides the Toyota Corolla?

Suzuki anything pretty much. Parts are cheap if you buy them online. Less rice tax than a Honda or Toyota yet just as reliable.
KiaKoup.
Turbo 2.0L, 200hp, manual, modern looks.
Dirt cheap.
Can tune it to make 300 horsepower to the wheels.

A diesel engine that melts steel beams.
And a .50 cal anti-aircraft gun jump seat instead of a trunk.
It's inauguration day. Let's have a thread about armored cars.
Does anyone have experience with them? Would you ever be interested in owning one? What would you get if you were an important person?

How do you determine what your budget is for a car? After bills and such. Take home pay.
But also insurance, registration, fuel, tires, repairs.
I'm not a poorfag, but saving for a house. Trying to see if my budget says base Civic, Civic Si, or Mustang GT.
Also, tell me how shit my taste in cars is. And tell me recommendations.
By finding out how much it costs and comparing it to how much you make.

not that simple mang
it's all about credit and debits
>>16524313
Well I take home about ~$500 a week, more or less. I have a couple thousand saved. Not sure if I should buy something in the sub-$6000 range with CASH, or finance something maybe in the $11,000 range, with a huge downpayment, while keeping a couple thousand as emergency money, as well as money for tires, battery, alternator, tune up, and any other maintenance components at whatever given Mileage the car is at.
BTW currently drive a $3k civic, and it's a ticking time bomb to be honest
I want to get into tougay for the shits and my buddy recommended starting out with a cheap civic hatch to start on and work on.
What's the consensus on either buying an old civic to work on, or an old bronco to go off roading on during my days off.
I like the idea of the bronco, but working on a civic with friends sounds fun as well.
And when I say touge I mean just fucking around on empty stretches of road at 2am.
Civic for 3k with fiero body kit and weird dodge stratus engine swap

>working on a civic with friends.
Definitely the route I would take
Me and my entire group of friends are into Honda. I couldn't count how many times that we would have "wrench day" at his house and like 6 or more of us would show up in
1991-1997 civics

What non-4 doors car can tall fuckers like me get? Any suggestions, anons?
you'd want a 2 door sedan

by modern i mean 2010+,i do know that the older ones are complete pieces of fun shit, but i keep hearing different things from different people about the newer ones
car won't be mine but i'm gonna keep it short and not go into much detail
They are some weird frankenstein monters made up of bits of BMW, Chrysler relics and Toyota.
And they are certainly not worth their price.
>>16523831
hows the reliability?
you can't really tell from any of the people selling them
>>16523796
They have a lot of BMW overengineering. Push start, weird transmission feels, odd key that looks like a pendant, weird dashboard placements.
Other that that, they're reliable and nifty and great on gas.
Sup /o/
How much would something like this cost me to get it brand new again?
Its on a vw.
