Mercedes-Benz will always be better than BMW in every single conceivable way.
>More iconic classic cars like the 300SL
>Richer racing heritage, rivaling that of Bentley and Ferrari.
>Superior interior quality and luxury features
>Higher quality engineering with proof that you get more value out of a Mercedes, as its spare parts are more affordable than BMW's and they still produce original parts for their classic out-of-production models
>Doesn't abandon their V8 engines, unlike BMW, and keeps their amazing signature AMG sounds even with bi-turbos installed

i agree on the sound. even with two turbos. it still sounds like old 6.3 liter. they did good job there.

What should you do if you haven't changed your oil for longer than you should have?
Inb4
>change the oil
Yes yes I mean if I'm at ~7k miles since last change and the oil is now well beyond its lifetime, is their a special oil or oil additive to help prevent any more damage being done to the engine? Should I just go as premium as possible with the oil? Should I change the oil fairly soon after I get this oil change? What should I be doing to help the poor little engine out?
7k isn't too bad if you don't have a turbo.
Just change it.
Just change it.
>>16529651
Read the owners manual, most new vehicles have oil change intervals in the 5000+ mile range. If you use synthetic oil the properties of the oil vary less with age than conventional motor oil, so if you were to change out the oil filter and then top off the filter you could theoretically double the manufacture recommended oil life in a non turbo vehicle.

This shit looks magical and I want to drive on it.
anyone else have hatred of particular brands?
i fucking hate vauxhall. i hate seeing yobbo's in their shitty corsas and astras. i hate being stucky behind shitty astra estates and shitty vivaros. i hate being tailgated by rep boys in shitty insignias
there's something about their ugly cars that gets to me. i think that if you need to get yourself around and you are going to buy yourself a car, why not make the experience of driving a pleasurable one and get something non-shit. it's like people choose to make themselves miserable. you don't drive a vauxhall out of desire, you drive one out of necessity. it's the box of shit you get because it's what you deserve
nothing fun, exciting, vibrant, dynamic, new, creative, hopeful, or beneficial in any way to humanity has ever been done, thought of, or driven to in those drab, dreary willfully awful piles of misery

You talking about the H gen, or all Opel/Vauxhalls?
Cant say that i agree with you, if its "all" Vauxhalls..
The Astra 1.6 turbo top spec has a 0-60 of 6.6 seconds, I bet your bus pass can't do that.
Hello lads. I am tired of this shitbox and want to trade it in. What would be a good car to trade it in for, roughly same price range. I'm open to any kind of sporty car 2bh

Are you telling me that they don't exist and this guy just put the badges on his car? That's preposterous
I'm going to be getting my permit in a few days, and sadly i'll be forced to learn to drive on an automatic, however I do have some prior experience with using manual transmissions on a quad. I was wondering what you guys thought would be a good buy for a first vehicle for someone with an understanding of manual transmissions but is still in the process of learning how to drive a car.

Plus I think 23k is a bit too rich for my blood right now.
I probably should also say that i'm an amerifag, just a heads up on that.

It's ogre for you.
I've been lurking for a while now and now I need some advice from you guys.
I'm 20 and can finally afford to buy my first car. My aunt is trying to sell me her 2013 Honda Accord with 115k miles on it for $7k. When I looked up similar years and mileage $7k seems to be the average price.
Should I just got for it and buy it or shouldn't I buy a 1994-2004 Mustang instead?
A lil more detail on the Accord. I know it's a 2013 but I forgot what trim and i know my aunt has maintained it properly and shes a great driver so no worries about its condition.
Pic is just something i pulled from Google. The actual Accord I have no pictures of but it's black
Should not shouldn't. My bad
Bump.
Any advice would help guys. I'm an idiot when it comes to cars
That's a LOT of miles for a 2013 car. Most people drive an average of around 15,000 miles a year. The car is less than 4 years old, so on average it should have 60,000 miles. On the bright side, most of the miles it has are bound to be highway miles, which are easier on a car than city miles. If you're debating between this and a 1994-2004 Mustang, the answer is this Accord, any day.
>tfw it snowed 6+ inches of powdery snow last night and it's not stopping any time soon
>can't get my RWD Mustang out of the driveway or down the road
>can't get to work
RWD feels thread?
How is rwd in the rain?
Considering getting a brz but not we get a lot of rain and can't afford to miss work (I'm one of 3 physicists in the company, and ones a manager so he doesn't really even count)
It's actually raining right now so I was planning on test driving the brz soon to see how the shit tires it comes with handle in the rain
RWD LITERALLY CAN'T COMPETE

b-b-but t-track day!!! :(:(:(
Hey
I'm fairly interested in getting my bike license. Can you recommend me any books or websites I can use to research all things I should know abouts bikes, brands and everything a Biker should know. Perhaps you can drop some advice to a bike rookie. Thanks
No.

Watch Twist of the Wrist 2 on youtube. Very good, but is assumes some experience. It's geared toward track riding, but a lot can apply to the street.
If i may offer:
There is, in fact, a replacement for displacement and that is compression ratio.
You see, average engine displacement from the period of 1918 to 1975 had not changed by very much however by the mid 50's the age of the high-compression V8 began.
Allow me to present an example. Buick's straight 8, the 30's era "Fireball" displaced 320 cubic inches and made roughly 77 gross horsepower.
However Buick's 322 cubic inch "Nailhead" V8 produced in 1953 made 162 gross horsepower.
The difference of course, is the compression ratio. Both engines are OHV however the older "Fireball" had a compression ratio of 4.7:1 and the "nailhead had a compression ratio of 9.5:1
The displacement is a mere 2 cubic inches apart.
I have thus provided examples that support my position.
it is useless to debate me.
Before you mention forced induction, please be aware that forced induction also raises compression ratio, thereby you will be supporting my theory.
If you attempt to argue, please hang yourself by the neck until dead.

die
>>16529111
Okay
>>16528992
First off, let me start by saying that the increase in horsepower between the Buick I8 and Nailhead V8 is not directly correlated to the increase in compression ratio.
>There is, in fact, a replacement for displacement and that is compression ratio.
No, because there is a practical limit to compression ratio, and it's dictated by octane and combustion efficiency. This is a hard physical limit. Is such a limit exists for displacement, it's the standard engine block - but a block can be replaced.
Effectively, there is no replacement for displacement. There is nothing that
>Adds horsepower the more you add, with no physical upper limit
>Does not add extra parts (such as a turbo)
>Does not require you to change the type of fuel
Turbo's, nitrous and compression are all great ways of adding power, but they are in no way a direct replacement for displacement.
Opinions on this?
BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe
>hurr durr is that coupe but that's 4 door.....
you can fuck off pls
It's a BMW. It's an overpriced piece of shit that will run you more costs in repairs than most other cars.
Also;
>$300 piece of plastic
>>16528863
If you want to buy it new, I suggest buying a M4 used, unless you want 4 doors then M3.
But if you don't want the M badge, I would suggest getting it used regardless.
The 4-series is probably their best selling or best series right now. Its better than the 3-series and it looks sleeker in general.
I don't know much about beamers, just remember to get warranty.
>>16528863
It's a sedan based on a coupe based on a sedan. Just get the 3 series.

What do you even come to /o/ for if you can't drive a stick shift ? To talk about what color Kia Optima to buy?
Don't you think you would fair better off just reading a consumers report magazine of something?
Don't you see the difference between you and a real car person who actually likes cars & driving?
/o/ meme'd me into a manual swap as a joke and I literally did it the madmen at the local race shop should have it ready next week
>>16528594
Well good for you, anon. Do you know how to drive stick yet?

I do yeah i put my autotragic into "stick shift mode" & its the same thing 'cept no clutch & it's way harder on the transmissions and I eat everyone's ass out on the tougue.
