Which gen is the best Wrangler in your opinion? Personally, I like the YJ the most, because it's still got the old-fashioned ruggedness and minimalism while still being able to function as a daily driver. JKs are for yuppies and old people/

>JKs are for yuppies and old people

LJ's are pretty wicked, I'd have one if they weren't so hard to find in good shape.
>>16549927
>YJ has old fashioned ruggedness and minimalism while being able to DD.
>JK is for yuppies and old people
The JK fills the same niche as any previous Wrangler except it's newer. The JK is arguably the most rugged and minimal NEW vehicle you can buy today.

I guess there's situations where power sliding and drifting a little might be faster than gripping through?

Faster in what way?

Faster in the only way that matters in the real world.
Can I get a quick rundown on how to sell a junk car that's no longer worth the money to fix? I don't really have the knowledge to part it out but I'm willing to learn if it's worth the time for the extra money. The tires and battery are relatively new which I could probably sell for more than the 'we buy junk cars' websites are offering me.
It's a 2002 ford taurus with some minor rust, a leaking coolant reservoir, and a loose bearing on the ac compressor that's shredded the serpentine belt. The cost to repair the ac compressor was quoted as ~$1300 so the car is pretty much shot
>>16548631
Get a new belt
By pass the AC compressor
Post it on craigslist mentioning the AC is out.
You could still easily get 2k plus for this vehicle. The coolant resevoir leak doesn't sound like a problem worth mentioning.
>>16548647
I'm not sure 2k is reasonable, I'm seeing comparable cars listed in the 600-1200 range. I was quoted $575 for the AC bypass kit
>>16548667
>bypass kit
I dunno about a bypass kit, usually it's just a different belt routeing that avoids the compressor pulley.
But, I think 1000-1200 would be the low end haggle price for the vehicle, assuming other than the AC and resevoir leak it was well maintained and potentially had a transmission service in that time.

Is this the GOAT babby's first car?
>>16547140
They're reliable, have a great aftermarket, and can be made quite quick.
When the world ends, these things will still be putting around without a care.
That said, the build quality and interior is shit. SHIT!
>>16547140
Old civics and camrys.
Literally babby's first car. Cheap, extreme reliable, easy to find and buy, automatic or 5 to 6 speeds available, mechanics love to work on them because they are well documented.
my second car was a sunfire. it was ok but the engine was an absolute fucking worthless dog. push the pedal down and it gagged like a shitty ass carbed engine and it had a 3 speed.
it was reliable though. could fix the engine just by throwing rocks and sticks at it.
Grand Tour is fun and all but why are they faking sooooo much stuff and why is it more and more obvious ?
what do you like and hate about the new show?

Season 2 might be better the writing is pretty aweful and that's sad because most of Clarkson's other stuff is great right back to when he first started.
Guess writing the same shit for 35 years takes a toll but the actual reviews are great it's just the rest of the show is very rough
Why doesn't your car have a 510bhp naturally aspirated 5.0 V10 that revs to 8300rpm?
>>16540568
Because the engineers didn't put one in it you autist.
Because I'd rather have a 16 liter that revs to 8000 and makes 4 figure power. Even a race engine will be more reliable than a high strung VW.
>>16540575
You mean you didn't tick it as an option on the list of optional extras?
If you could design your own car lines, what would your organization look like?
Mine:
>Three brands: Cheap, Fast, and Exotic
>Just three different chassis, all RWD based, the larger two accommodate AWD, the smaller two allow for engine relocation to the rear (MR)
>Only two engines, each with turbo options, four total engine variants
>Covers all layouts and body styles
Economy car
rwd
small sedan
This is not so much designing a car manufacturer and car line, but more along the lines of an alternate what-if situation in running a company.
For example, the Yugo US exports died off once Yugoslavia was sanctioned, so my idea would be to immediately import vehicles from FIAT instead, seeing as they were FIATs in the first place.
Likewise, the mass recall of Yugos due to emissions violations would be to either offer arbitrary EFI conversions, or once again importing EFI Fiat engines, whichever would be cheaper.
And finally, the GVX wouldn't be a simple 1.3 EFI engine, but rather an engine swap with a larger FIAT engine, to actually make the car somewhat sporty and quick. I'm not sure how well these ideas would work, but I'd try these venues to try and keep the company afloat and correct the brand's reputation.

I heard the Jeep 4 liter is old as fuck engineering but unkillable too
I just want to buy some thing for less than 2 k that will last longer than a month after I buy it
Depends, what generations are that price in your area. I'd say crv either way though. It's a civic underneath with awd when the front slips and a ton more room for shit.

The car will rot before the engine has a problem. Same with any truck/SUV built by GM
Never had much experience with ford products so I can't really say a turning about them
>>16549491
>a Turning
Fuck. Anything*
Since I've got my first car I had the urge to get to know more about engines.
In the first place, I understand that the combustion of fuel causes the crankshaft to spin.
What I didn't understand so far is, how you distinguisch between Torque an Power. OP is a drunk german.
Horsepower is an imaginary number derived from torque.
HP = Torque * RPM / 5252
Torque is the force to get the wheels to turn. Power is calculated through torque. That's how fast the wheels rotate I believe.
t. Drunk American
torque is force. power is force over a given amount of time.
Or think of it this way.
Torque is how far you can step. Power is how far you can walk in a minute. If a person has long legs they have more torque, but a person with short legs can move their legs faster(more steps per minute).. they each walk the same distance in a minute, the long legged person (one with more torque) requires fewer steps.
Mainstream, midsize family cars:
Chevy Impala - made in Canada
Dodge Charger - made in Canada
Ford Fusion - made in Mexico
Honda Accord - made in Ohio
Toyota Camry - made in Kentucky
Nissan Maxima - made in Tennessee
So, you tell me, which are the American cars?

The corvette is made in America and is an unreliable piece of shit. Americans are terrible at building everything.
