Any folks up for a meet? I know we can get something together if we try!
>>16557481
I would be, but
>cant have it in detroit area because.. you know.
>cant be in Ann Arbor because college vapers will crash it with stanced civics
>anywhere else and its too far away from everyone and nobody shows up.
I'd be down for it, but I gotta get my car back on the road first.
I know last time someone tried to plan one we had a kik chat. Maybe we should reboot that and actually plan one out?
>>16557772
We could all meet up on woodward. Belle isle could work too. It may be in detroit but we all know dindus don't go to parks
Sure. I'd be down. Let's tear up some country roads.
The Ford Mustang has scored two stars in a Euro NCAP crash test, making it the first car from a large manufacturer to receive such a low score since 2008.

What do you think?
>American engineering
Thought crash rating were bullshit and used by insurance companies to jack up the price.
a vehicle's lack of power or the ability to make power does not deem said vehicle "shit".
discuss.
Most car related events and thereby the people as well are centered around going fast and being faster than others. It is therefore no surprise that the average car enthusiast would deem slow cars shit.
The average car enthusiast is also low key retarded.
>>16551181
How good or bad the car is is judged by how well it does what it's made to do. So if you make a "fast car" and it's slow, it's "shit".
However, if the car is made for something else like hauling a family around, other criteria is more important than speed.
>>16553142
But what if a car was never meant to be fast and people convince themselves that it should have been so therefore it's shit?
What is this?
Looks like an FD rx7

Not positive. But i see what appears to be oil lines and several mazda style plugs.

I might getting my first car soon (20, soon to be 21) for about $200. Owner is some old guy with a lot of cars on his lot and needs to get rid of most of them, says the only issue with it he knows of is a small leak (wasn't told where from the person who talked to him) and the guy has the parts to fix it just not the time.
I don't know anything about the car in general, but the question is, are Grand Am's good for a first car? And is there an aftermarket for them?
>>16558450
Resident GM fag here.
He mentioned a leak. It's most likely the intake manifold gaskets. Common problem assuming it's the V6. You can fix it yourself with basic hand tools in an hour or so. They're decent reliable first cars.
They do have an aftermarket, but it's not exactly large. And the aftermarket pretty much caters to the V6 models.
known aftermarket sites:
http://www.pfyc.com/GA.html
http://milzymotorsports.com/
https://wot-tech.com/
if you're looking for suspension mods, they'll generally have to be special orders for anything beyond lowering springs. KYB used to offer a fantastic set of AGX struts but they've been discontinued since.
Also read up on the forums for the car. Lots of useful info with people WELL versed in GM N-body cars.

If you are in a rust belt area
check the edges of all that plastic cladding
compared to say an alero or malibu, they tend to rust faster since the plastic tends to let rust and dirt sit under them next to the body metal
Trans tend to be kinda weak but as long as you aren't dumping the fucking gas pedal everywhere it can last.
Check trans lines, if they rust out and piss tranny fluid you are going to be looking at a new 4t45e sooner rather than later
Interiors are cheapish so don't expect it to not get kinda ragged looking without a bit of care, some armorall every 6 months can stretch the cheap plastic a long way
I remember that the LCD bits in the dash and radio tend to shit themselves too since GM went for a "futuristic" look on a hella budget
As far as a beater with a heater goes, not bad

Grand am gt daily driver, been my first and only car since 2011.
I wouldn't straight up assume its the manifold gasket but I'd definitely ask for clarification on where the leak is coming from before purchasing. ~1 grand to replace the gasket at a shop if you don't want to attempt it - but then again, the fair market price is <2 grand for this car.
since owning, I've had to replace the fuel pump, rack & pinion, and a few oil/coolant hoses.
grandamgt.com is great.
Most aftermarket exists on customgrandam.com
modding this car. . . Well I want to as well, but it's a straight up waste of money.
The car is old.. but it's been reliable
i did put in new headlights recently tho. had to cut a lot of plastic for it to fit, and its not exactly perfect.
What car would you take rallying if money was no object?
Does it have to be on this planet? tfw no moon rally stage.
250gto would be my second choice.

Redpill me on Cadillacs
I see them on the road and they always catch my eye. But I don't see them driven like Mercedes and BMWs are
What's wrong with them?

>>16562664
>What's wrong with them?
Nothing really. The badge just doesn't have the prestige of BMWs and Mercedes'
You can argue that modern Cadillacs are better than their competitors. But the badge still has a reputation for 80 year old owners and shit 1970's quality, regardless of how true those memes are (not anymore)
>>16562664
Shitty brand image from the 80s and 90s. Cadillacs became considered cars for geriatrics and urban gangsters, and their rebadged Cavalier in the 80s (Cimarron) really stained their reputation as a luxury brand.
Paddle shifters or manual /o/?
I wanna get manual but sometimes i just feel like cruising ya feel?
>>16562547
Well buy a damn manual, put it in a gear and fucking cruise, you dumbass.
Don't bother getting a manual if you live in the city unless you are dedicated to learn as it will get old fast.
>>16562547
>I wanna get manual but sometimes i just feel like cruising ya feel?
Get a autotragic daily which I bet you already have and a weekend car ya dip. Don't got space for a second car? Well fuck you, not my problem.
Thoughts on the 2017 STi vs the Focus RS? I want to own one long term as a daily driver and a fun car on backroads as I commute a lot for my job. I'm gonna be test driving them within the next week but want to know if anyone has opinions. Price wise, I talked down the Ford Dealership by ~$650 from their MSRP but the Subaru dealership is giving me $2.9k off. So final price with tax is for the STi is $36k vs $39.5 for the RS.
So far I'm leaning towards the STi as the dealership is offering lifetime warranty on the powertrain so long as I maintain the scheduled maintenance (which I plan to) and includes wear item for the first 3yrs/36,000 miles. As far as I can tell though, both equally fun and fast. The RS has some funky pedals though.
