Hey /o/

Can I do it? Is it possible to find a good one for around 5000 $ and not get fucked by fuel prices?
LPG?
Probably not
Get one as a weekend car, keep a more modern, cheaper car for DD'ing
On a more serious note; if you can work on it yourself then sure. These are damned old cars at this point, and you're not gonna get one in what you'd call "good" condition for that money, so you'll have to expect problems and repair costs

I am studying to be a mechanic
Post the most over-rated and over priced piece of shit you can /o/
>>16577966
Probably the most underrated.
Retard here.
So my 2010 Honda CRV won't start at all. None of the electrical equipment is working (key FOB, radio, lights, a/c) and the engine won't turn over.
I'm pretty retarded when it comes to engines but this seems like an ignition or a starter motor issue.
Is this something a retard can fix or should I just let the mechanic fix it tomorrow?
>>16577809
Sounds like battery my man. Did you check that?
Does it click when you try to start it, or is there no noise at all?
>>16577809
Battery, check connections. Try to jump the car if you can if the connections look good.
If that doesn't work, something much worse if probably fucked.
>never cared about cars
>never even had a car
>watch a few episodes of Initial D
no one can attack the downhill like me. i will be king of the mountain in no time.
inb4 OP buys a Corolla SR5 and thinks he has an AE86
>>16577667
same shit
>>16577685
Take a look at the rear then.
Not the same car.
Any bimmerfags here? Need to know how reliable the Z4 M (S54B32) is, looking at one with 48k miles for sale for this summer coming up but don't want it if people have problems with electrical or transmission for example. Also never owned a bimmer, let alone an M series.
>>16577544
the engine and manual transmission is very reliable
You should look up vanos issues, it's a cheap $60 fix but it's still a problem
>>16577576
Word i'll look into that. I know people say don't buy a car if you can't afford the repairs, but i can to a certain extent (I know a clutch is about $1500 with labor). The car itself is 25-35k used, so I'm not rich or anything. The only thing that would scare me with these expensive cars are the electronics, that shit can get pricey and I know NOTHING about electronics only mechanical. For example I've heard horror stories of people spending 5k on some minor bullshit in their late 2000s Jaguar XJs. I wanted an 09 XJ until I heard how shitty they were in that department
>>16577544
Look into the competition too, try a Z3M before a Z4M.
How much old ladys did you plow in it

It doesn't go fast enough, neither is the car heavy enough to plow over even a squirrel
You buy this car for one purpose...
Hey aut/o/, this is my first time posting here, I need some transportation. My first car was pic related, bought it for 600$ if I recall correctly. It ran and drove but it seemed like it wasn't in the best shape, the floor board was rusted through for one thing. Anyway for some reason or another I got rid of it not long after buying it. I just wanted to ask your opinion on any good ideas, maybe something older that I can work on. Unless newer cars are perfectly fine to work on, it's just I heard a while ago older cars are easier to work on, plus it might be cheaper than buying a newer car. Some of the things I found locally are:
1997 Honda Accord 900$
1990 4x4 Ford Ranger 1300$
1998 Dodge Dakota Sport Edition 1500$
2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4WD 2dr SUV 2200$
Thanks for any help in advance.
>>16577130
>4x4 ranger
What motor? Because that should be the only thing on your list
>>16577130
Accord might have issues at that price but it will be cheaper and easier to fix than a truck. It will be a shitbox but it will run forever.
>>16577139
It's got a 4.0 V6
>>16577144
Interesting, will take into consideration.
Do brits just ignore the reliability issues associated with range rovers or are they just completely deluded
at least jaguars now come with a fairly long warranty
>>16577050
>Fell for the unreliability meme
>>16577088
>tfw drivetrain falls out after 25k miles of highway
>>16577088
so range rovers are now the pillar of reliability?
Hey /o/, today im checking out a 1971 Mach 1. The guy says that he payed $30,000 for the paint job alone. He says it was so expensive because he did it at a dupont shop with their paint. Ive never heard about a paint job going for more than 10k is this guy bullshitting me? I have a 1972 mach 1 that i got for $6,500 (project). He also says the car is valued at $110,000 which also sounds like bullshit.
Only way to know for sure is he provide receipts. Maybe a $30k car at most. 1971-74 mustangs have lower value than the earlier ones.

Hey fags, what is a good brand for cheap rotors and pads? I was looking at Centric from Rock Auto. Is it better going this route that would cost ~200 or should I go about ~330 for the Powerstop Z23 kit?
This is for my DD. My DD is a 2006 Camry V6.
bimp
It's a Camry. You don't need "powerstop" anything.
Centrics are fine, using then right now on my accord
So let's say I'm looking for a fairly cheap non-haldex AWD car. I'm a poorfag so new WRXs are out of question. On the other hand shit like Subaru Justy doesn't interest me either.
What are my options?
1992 Suzuki jimny
Legacy/Outback wagon. And Forester.
Imprezas, even outback sports are retarded expensive. But nobody wants Legacy based cars right now.
However, they're tough to buy. Good ones can be had for less than $2k, but between head gasket issues and torque bind, they can be tricky.
The 2.5L Ej25x is trash from the factory. If the HG's have been replaced, then they're alright. Do not buy any 2.5L N/A subaru that has not had head gaskets done.
Subarus are deceptively well cared for. The interiors are usually in phenomenal shape. Depending where you live, rust may or may not be an issue. However, those damn engines...

Why do normies ruin good cars? Does no one know anything about rotaries?
Normies don't believe in oil changes.
>Why do normies ruin good cars?
So you can buy them for cheap to turn into a track beast, anon.
>>16576740
The fuck am I going to do with a seized up rx8?
I'm attracted to French cars.
Does this make me gay?
>>16576541
No, but being OP makes you a faggot.
Anyone have any luck finding a reasonably priced WRX/STI? Looking for a 2004-2007 WRX, but in New England they're all ricer taxed to hell. KBB puts an '04 WRX in good condition with ~120k miles (avg) at $4-5k. On CL all I can find are poorly modded and beat to fuck WRXs asking $8000+ firm. I understand they're highly sought after and owned by ignorant 16 year olds, but I'm not buying a beat on WRX with 150k+ miles for $9,000.
Forget about STIs, they run about $16,000+ for an '04 with high mileage and numerous problems.
>>16576211
Pretty much no.
>>16576211
the rice tax has forever inflated them, so not really.
>>16576221
The only ones that are even moderately priced are wagons with 200k+ miles, and nobody wants the wagons. Even the 2008 models (which aren't as sought after because of how soft the suspension is) have only lost like 10% of their value somehow in 9 years.
