How bad is it /o/?
New wheel, new wheel hub, new control arm, probably new shock. Nothing too expensive. How did you manage that?

Tasteful, classic, understated yet elegant. The best car color of all time.
Honorable mention: Midnight Purple
black doesn't always look good
its harder to maintain, gets scratches easier, and will look worse in 10 years than a car in white or silver
I really like green...

Hey /o/, I'm thinking about getting an FC3S, but I'm worried about things like gas mileage and reliabilty. Any help is appreciated.

I live in the UK, so naturally I know how to drive a manual. I'm 18 and have a shitbox atm, but most nice-ish cars, BMWs, Audis, Mercs, Jags etc. pretty much all have automatic gearboxes unless they're self-styled as 'sporty'.
I have never driven an automatic, but they just look like they suck all the fun out of driving. What do I do when it's time to get a new car?
No. The majority of places that use them have people cant afford auto. Its a dead, stupid technology that only has a purpose for sport/ nostalgia applications.
It only matters with rwd cars and drifting/racing.
Like 99% of drivers have front wheel or awd and the closest they get to racing is stoplights and onramp.
>>16577033
all you do is press the gas and the car changes gears for you, you can probably find a video of someone driving one and what you see is literally what it is. most enthusiasts prefer driving manual because they feel like they have more control over the car and its also cheaper to purchase and replace, which is why poorfags like me prefer them.
Hello /o/. I'm looking at getting a 1/2 ton truck in March. I'm obviously not going to buy a fucking Dodge Ram because they are pieces of shit.
I plan on getting a truck with a V8, crew cab, 4WD, and I am hoping to get an auxiliary transmission cooler as well, but that's not required. I expect to be towing maybe once or twice a month for long distances, and driving it every day otherwise.
So would you buy a Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 V8, or the Ford F150 with the 5.0 V8?
The Chevy offers better gas millage by about 2-3 MPG, which will add up at the end of the year, but the Ford has a higher quality suspension, especially for towing; from what I have heard. I am shooting to find one made between 2012 and 2014 with approximately 60k miles on it, and for around $25k hopefully, and will make a $5-6000 downpayment on it. I know I should pay cash, but I would like the credit history for buying a house in a couple years.
So with the parameters of 2012-2014, V8, Crewcab, and 4WD. Would you buy a Ford or a Chevy 1/2 ton?
>>16577006
I think thats up to you really
go test drive both of them, compare stuff, compare warranties and prices
Why get a 4wd for towing? Heavier and worse gas mileage. The vortec is probably one of the most tried and true truck engines out there, can't go wrong with a 5.3
>>16577026
Would like to have the option. To me I don't really see any reason not to get 4WD other than mileage.
It was a 928S when I was a kid, but since I joined the local volunteer fire department, got my CDL, took my Emergency Vehicle Drivers Training courses, it has got to be a Pierce Engine.

Ayyy I've only driven ambulances I'm not a firefighter.
The van chassis are pretty much just regular cars but the truck chassis with the air brakes are pretty lit. Especially the air horn, that thing could blast eyebrows off.
I did once drive a brush fire truck, it's just a lifted F-350 with a portable hose in the back and some extrication stuff.
Maybe after I finish school and settle down I'll get into a fire academy so I can roll in the big boy truck.

I'm looking for a new car. I have, what I thought, were 4 pretty simple requirements
>AWD
>Manual
>Full size sedan
>V6 or V4 Turbo -- just looking for 200+ HP because I hate driving anemic cars that can't accelerate on an on ramp
This car does NOT exist on the American market outside of luxury brands (Audi A4). What the fuck is going on? I don't want to spend $40+k on a German piece of shit that will cost $500 minimum every time I take it in for service.
Someone prove me wrong and tell me that a car like this exists outside of the luxury segment in the US.

Honestly the baby benz is a good car.
Just finding one in good condition is a hard one.
Unless you want a project car where try to get everything OEM it's not really worth it as DD
Is good car
Trouble find in good shape
Very old
If fix self it good buy
See after rust
Is good car
If you can't get you hands on a clean one, the get a W126 or a W202.
Both are great choices.
Welp guys my car is officially fucked. Just spent $500 on a new bumper and fender too about a month ago.
Car made a left turn through my lane but misjudged my distance, they admitted fault to the cops and felt terrible but they are lucky I swerved and didnt hit their passenger door.
Got it all on dashcam too.
Think its totaled, all my airbags went off and my radiator is nowlegit a part of my engine now, thats how hard it got pushed back.
What car should I buy after I get dat insurance money?
Thinking a 2015 BRZ. Insurance check gona be anywhere between $7k-$9k.
>>16575287
Come back in like a year, you ain't seeing shit for a while. Insurance will try their hardest to pay you late as fuck; as little as fuck.
>>16575287

You shut your mouth. I loved my corolla. Best A to B car I've owned. Never gave me an issue in the 88K miles I owned it.
>>16575292
Eh I really hope it doesnt take that long. Kid admitted guilt at the scene and I have undisputable video of the incident so shouldn't that help? I figured they would try to lowball the fuck out of me though.
When downshifting, what's the proper time to rev match?
>clutch in
>change to lower gear
>blip throttle
>clutch out
Or
>clutch in
>move stick to neutral
>rev match in neutral
>select lower gear
>release clutch
If you're not double clutching it doesn't matter.
>>16575250
you basically described the same process twice
if you have the clutch in, it doesn't matter where the shifter is, you're essentially in neutral
>>16575250
As previously mentioned, if you're double declutching, it'd be
>clutch in
>neutral
>clutch out
>blip
>clutch in
>in gear
>clutch out
Doesn't really matter if it's not an old car with weak or lack of syncros
Any other new manual drivers here?
I think I am having a hard time because I have only driven Auto for years.
I think I have up shifting down but what's the best way and when to shift down?
What's the physical process for shifting down? Say to start driving for a slower speed due to a turn or speed limit change
>want to buy a manual
>only ever driven auto
>don't know anyone with a manual who can teach me
So my options are paying for lessons, or having my first time driving a manual be right off the lot in a new car.
I'm fucked, aren't I?
>>16575166
There are tons of videos on youtube mate there's hope!
>>16574962
New manual driver here too, and I have pretty much everything down, but I was wondering how bad it is to not blip the throttle on every downshift.
I'm too tall to heel-toe, so if I want to steadily decelerate quickly, I'll slowly let out the clutch while sometimes braking.
I like rowing through the gears, so I don't like rev-matching with no slowing down, braking, rev-match again while having to stop decelerating while I rev match, etc etc.
Letting out the clutch with no gas takes this problem away for me, but I don't want noticeable premature clutch wear.
If you want a cheap four door sedan, why would you buy anything other than a Ford Panther body or a GM B-body?
I'm honestly wondering.
>>16573918
Because the corolla exists
Because A-bodies exist.

Guys. My CD clutch is burning out and slipping when I play it at high speeds. Pic related.
I see some scratches. Is it salvagable or do I have to get a new CD clutch? Checked the master cylinder and it looks fine.
