Do rotary engines actually eat apex seals like people say they do or is that a shitty misconception passed on by people who beat the shit out of their car and poorly maintain it?
I want to buy an FC and eventually bridgeport it for fun braps but don't want to be replacing nothing but apex seals all day every day. My old man and my mother both owned bridgeported RX4s that they DD'd and they never had this issue, but a pair of anecdotes are nothing to go off of. I don't mind wrenching but are apex seals seriously that big a deal?
It's a misconception passed on by people who DON'T beat the shit out of their car. A rotary engine needs to have the piss revved out of it so it doesn't build up carbon and cause those apex seals to wear and crack before they need to.
Even if they do need replacing rebuilding a rotary is a hell of a lot easier than rebuilding a piston engine. They're small, light enough that you don't need a huge hoist, and there's like seven moving parts total.
>bridgeported RX4s
You best have photos of that shit nigger
>>16585294
Well that's interesting to know, I figured it was mostly from people who just sat there idle revving so they could spew fireballs out the back of their unit. Good to know I can have fun with it while keeping it healthy rather than having it be a garage queen.
I'll be seeing my old man tonight, he might have some photos from ye olde days. If this thread is still up I'll post em up here but no promises.
That RX4 was his greatest love besides his old Valiant Charger and Escort.
One of my friends had one and its partially true. They eat through gaskets faster then a conventional engine but its like a every ~10k service like everyone tries to make people think.
Inspired by the Twingo plush, I thought about bringing you the Twingo in another format, the wearable one.

If you don't own a pickup, there's something inherently wrong with you.
And I'm not even saying it has to be your DD. But you need to own one. You aren't going to be going to Lowe's and picking up lumber on the weekend with your shitbox Civic.

I like some parts of them, hate some parts of them, but on the whole it was death of what I consider the last of the true American cars.
Rear Wheel drive, gas guzzling (although not as bad as made out), body on frame, V8 for no real reason, comfy as shit, everything electric breaks all the time, but the engine and the transmission lasts for-fucking-ever because of how detuned they are so they basically never have to work hard.
I loved the platform, although I am biased because I have positive memories of driving a big ass boxy Lincoln Town car with a super cute filipina for many months who loved to suck dick stretched out nude on the front leather bench seats while going on road trips since the windows were heavily tinted and it tickled her kink for public exhibitionism.
Race a Ferrari while out driving today, get home and look it up.

if you think there's anythijg economical about driving a turbocharged car, you fell for the meme.
It's actually a pretty good engine. 310 hp/400 torque and easily drops in to all class of vehicles with some slight re-tuning
Shame about the reliability issues though after 100k~ miles
Turbos aren't meant to be used long term like that so it's not surprising
Is it just a meme or do these things actually improve performance?
>>16590302
Meme
they can, in the form of a new filter and new intake lines free of vacuum leaks
however the engineers designing the OEM intake probably knew what they were doing in terms of flow and cold air intake
>>16590302
95% of the time meme
Most newer cars airboxes are very well designed
I'm aware that buying rotary engine vehicles is a bad idea because most of them are old and the engines don't last.
So would it be acceptable to buy an '81 RX7 with 49,000 original miles on the ol' Wankel? Pic related is the car in question. They're asking 4k for it which seems pretty low and suspcious to me given how few miles this car (allegedly) has.
